I honestly can't believe the absolute hysteria over one single pilgrim 🤦 on land worth millions of dollars. Of course they aren't going to plant a forest now. These hypocritical San Franciscans are crying about a tree, yet look at their own backyards—half of them have been paved over into parking lots. Look at the hills surrounding the city... just look. It’s incredibly easy to act all "eco-conscious" when the trees are on someone else's property and you don't have to lift a single finger.
Besides, has anyone actually looked at the renderings of how the building is supposed to look?

To me, this looks like way more greenery than what was there before...

Bravo on that comment. People are being so tedious, and it hasn't even been 24 hours since the demolition... I'm almost afraid to open the internet, or even my fridge, for fear that this pilgrim might pop out at me. We love to make grand statements about spilled milk, but when it actually comes time to take action—whether it's at the ballot box or right in front of our own homes—nobody shows up.... 🙂

They shouldn't have let it happen like this
They should've been way more proactive—at least acting like they actually give a damn
Now they’re just backtracking and looking for excuses

Srđan Marinić o PeleGRink: I feel nothing but shame, anger, and helplessness. I honestly don't know what I could've done differently to save that tree

I honestly don't get how they managed to save that tree; it's massive. Who even knows how deep those roots go now. If they had just cleared it out without making a whole production of it, they could have simply cut it down and turned it into some kind of sculpture—you know, as a sign of respect. Besides, the bidding process is way behind schedule; it’s bizarre that a forest hasn't practically grown on that lot in the meantime.
Anyway, how's the progress on the recycling program? What percentage have you guys actually hit ☕

It's honestly fascinating how some people can just keep talking nonsense and still walk free. Mad respect.

They should just plant a couple of trees at every government building and send the staff home... permanently.

I don't think we've seen this much unrest in a while. People in San Francisco are absolutely losing it over Small Malla and that cut-down tree. Naturally, everyone is dragging Ivica Puljak and Ivošević into the fray...

It’s actually quite interesting—take a look at this prophetic post from a San Franciscan woman written eight years ago, paired with a comment from Ivošević's associate, Srđan Marinić.

The Democratic Party must have been waiting for this moment; now all the old criticisms against Ivošević and Puljka are being dug up again.

IVOŠEVIĆ ON PELEGRINK: 'The investor followed the paperwork to the letter. Expect more crazy stories to come out of San Francisco.'

I honestly don't get it—what could they have actually done differently to prevent this mess?
From what I can gather, this whole situation traces its roots all the way back to 2009.
Can anyone explain if there was some kind of legal mechanism or regulatory safeguard that could have stopped this from happening in the first place?

I’m honestly just exhausted by the zeroes who feed off the emotions of people who are genuinely unsettled. These are people willing to look the public in the eye and lie about who is actually responsible for this pilgrimage project. They are the same zeroes who used bureaucratic red tape to suppress it back in 1996, yet here they are now, acting like they're mourning it. They were active participants in every single step that led to this project—a project that is going to happen regardless of what we think about it.
It’s morbid, really. That smirk they wear—as if they’re gloating over a tragic turn of events for our city—shows that even when they pretend to care about the pilgrimage, they're really just seeing an opportunity to parasitize the situation and wash away their own past sins.
Amidst all this morbidity, I suppose I should point out a meeting that has remained hidden from the public until now. It took place at City Hall on March 30, 2021, where the investor was received by the then Deputy Mayor, a member of the Republican Party, who was already fully briefed on the project and provided his support for finding a "final solution for the Bonačić center problem."
It's quite something—from March 30, 2021, until today, they’ve kept this under wraps, playing dumb and complaining about a lack of transparency.
No matter how much they lie today, I imagine their consciences will still burn bright with shame whenever they face the consequences of their actions. From Golden Gate Park to this pilgrimage. Just zeroes.

People in San Francisco are a few shades more obnoxious than your average idiot. It’s easily the most useless, eyesore-ridden stretch of the downtown area—assuming you ignore everything behind the Greyhound station and the Amtrak depot. I thought the place was hideous back in high school, too, mostly because I couldn't have cared less about my surroundings at the time. Just a bunch of provincial types weeping over some local martyr, while they stayed dead silent when Franjo Harmon isolated all of California and San Francisco. Thank God we’re finally getting some actual improvements around here.

man, just say it before they tear it down—this project isn't even bad
it wouldn't be such a massive circus right now
looks like this was tailor-made for the Republican Party

I mean, where in the official paperwork would they have even seen that tree removal was part of the plan?

To give the Republican Party some credit—did they ever actually voice support for the project?

Which document could have possibly shown them that the tree was being cut down?

The Republican Party... supporting the project? Hardly.

I'm not about to apologize to those idiots. If the project has all its permits, then that’s that. We can all feel bad about the trees if we want, but that's just how it goes.

So, who actually signed off on that permit? How did it happen? Whether there was some backroom deal to favor the developer is a whole other conversation, but honestly, it’s hard to see any real connection between Pellegrinka and the local developers out in the Midwest.

Samo waiting on that one guy to finally speak up. Well, he finally did. Now the city's complete circus is officially in town.

So, does anyone get an annual award for taking down that hated pilgrim lady?
What was that guy Bojan sharing in those clips a few years back?

What an activist would likely manage to block through sheer public outcry, the Deputy Mayor won't even attempt to tackle. It’s truly a shame; he was elected specifically to handle these kinds of battles—to push through obstacles regardless of the friction—rather than just sitting there reciting legal statutes.

I won't even get started on Puljko. That guy exists solely through PR stunts and expensive ad campaigns. His actual track record? Zero.

They don't even have all the permits. They only just requested the zoning changes recently.

But really, how likely is that actually to happen? What exactly would he be demanding, and more importantly, what specific laws or regulations would he even use to justify it?

I haven't seen anything from kopernik.nikola lately, have you guys? Just feels like they've gone totally off the grid. It’s kind of wild how someone can just vanish from the conversation without a trace, isn't it? One day you're right there in the thick of it, and the next—poof—nothing but digital dust. Anyway, I was thinking about that whole thing earlier while staring at my coffee, wondering if it's just a burnout thing or if they finally realized this place is a complete circus. Probably the latter, honestly. Life's too short for endless internet debates, I guess. kaže:
It’s not like Smili would ever handle things this way.
They really should've been more entrepreneurial about it, though I guess even the most driven people have their limits when things go sideways. Honestly, you’d think they would've seen it coming if they just used a bit of common sense.
Now they’re actually trying to apologize and start looking for excuses? Give me a break.

It’s honestly not even the first time we’ve seen this happening—they just keep hacking away at old trees to make room for whatever new project is on the agenda. I mean, look at that massive garage build; they paid the ultimate price by taking out twenty-seven huge trees just for that. Then you had that whole mess with the local shops down at the intersection near downtown San Francisco, and now it feels like those little corner stores over on the West Side are next on the chopping block. It’s just a cycle at this point. Next thing you know, they’ll be clearing out all the greenery in the suburbs too, leaving nothing but concrete behind.

So I was just looking around the other day, and man, it’s kind of a bummer—it looks like over a dozen trees have completely died off near that stretch of Main Street by downtown... you know, that area right by the old industrial lot? And it’s not just those; even that patch where they planted all that peach and nut trees last year? Yeah, about half of them have already shriveled up and died. Total waste of effort, honestly.🤦

Honestly, there hasn't been a single new tree planted in San Francisco all year. It’s like they just don't care anymore. Now, the administration is just obsessed with pouring as much concrete as possible across the downtown area before they inevitably lose their seats. They're basically just paving over everything while they still have the keys to the city.

And of course, it’s always the local administration's fault for everything. Typical.🤦 It’s about damn time people started seeing through the act. It turns out that guy is just your run-of-the-mill populist—nothing more than a third-rate bluffer. Honestly, the mask finally slipped.☕
