- what the hell is driving that behavior?

Poll responses—beyond the standard (multiple) choices of this—that should definitely include:
1. I have no idea, and this is my final word
2. I have no idea, but I might give it some thought...
3. None of the above
4. None of the above except for my own, provided I haven't already stated otherwise
5. Not in a million years
6. Love you all
7. I’m retracting my vote; I want to cast it again

You're overthinking it. You're starting to complicate things. If someone doesn't want to vote, a hundred extra options won't change their mind—and if they *do* want to vote but aren't doing it, there's usually only one reason: they hate every single option provided (except maybe their own).

And if they didn't, would that other person have voted either?

hahaha Good Occam's razor is actually the perfect tool for this situation

Just cut through it, or maybe trim everything down one by one

There ought to be a choice of the three right answers... then we can see whether you actually voted for yourself or not.

Look, I’m just saying that if someone manages to pull off a win through those kinds of tactics, it isn't exactly some massive tragedy. Beyond that, my gut tells me that person is going to end up losing far more than they actually gain in the long run.

In general, I don't see it as a bad thing to give people a chance to show their true colors—to let them prove they're cowards when the stakes are low enough that it won't really cost anyone else anything.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly taking sides here or anything, despite how much I've been venting above; I'm just observing the situation as it is.

So, I went ahead and put together a little poll, so feel free to jump in and cast your vote whenever you have a second.

Whoops!

But if we did that, who on earth would bother coming up with a new question in the first place?

Should we hold a vote on that too?

Look, regarding that whole situation, I'm just sitting here on the fence because everything feels pretty much the same to me, so I don't see the point in voting. It seems more logical to let the people who actually have some conviction about which option is the right answer step up and decide. Since I'm feeling totally indifferent about the whole thing, I'll just let them do whatever they want; it doesn't really bother me either way.

Shame on you for mocking my suggestion. I'm being serious here, and you're just laughing. You remind me way too much of those Nietzschean "last men."
The two of you can stop addressing me—directly or indirectly—and I'll do the same for you. I have zero respect for you.

I honestly feel like things would be a whole lot more engaging if we actually had a larger turnout from voters here
and besides, the voting process is really just an essential part of this entire discussion

So please, go out there and support it!

(as a whole)

I honestly don't see how, it feels like we're just overcomplicating things for no reason at all
and I’m not even being particularly serious about this, especially since the actual question being debated here was really just
- whether you can actually vote for yourself; that's pretty much it.

Voting for yourself is a total waste of time!!!

Just stay home and cast your vote within your own four walls

Oh, come on, Jack, it was just a joke—nothing personal against you.

I suspect he was just joking, but since he’s always so poised and formal, it isn't exactly easy to tell, is it? 🙂

(See, Sandra Murphy33!! This is why you should probably stick to avoiding those emojis altogether 😬 😛 .... )

Except I wasn't joking. Messing with someone who’s being serious isn't exactly class act. Whatever. I'm done being mad—I just feel a little sorry for you guys, honestly. Didn't expect that from this group.
