Now, how is a father supposed to drive into Washington, D.C., to report damage and deal with all these aftershocks when his wife and kids are already settled somewhere safe and warm?

The geniuses behind this plan clearly didn't account for that scenario.

Honestly, I don't think anyone saw this earthquake coming—I mean, who would have actually wanted this?

No, the geniuses actually implemented the stay-at-home order the day after 300,000 Washington residents had already left town. 😵 😵 😵

Look, there's a massive crowd of Washington, D.C. residents living in places like Suburban City, Dugo Selo, or all those surrounding towns. In reality, you can commute from there to your job in Washington, D.C. in 30 minutes and back home every single day. You don't necessarily need to be stuck in a damaged house or an apartment in the city while renovations are happening. And if a health emergency hits, you're at a hospital in Washington, D.C. in a heartbeat.
And then they roll out the permits. Brilliant. Now I can't even get to work because I can't commute back, nor can I renovate or even clean up my place enough to actually live there again.

Look, the whole point of the Crisis Headquarters was that the earthquake didn't actually matter—not really. They don't care about the people who lost everything they spent a lifetime building; all they care about is slapping restrictions in place, regardless of how much sense they make.

Look, nobody saw this whole scenario coming. Those passes? They only rolled those out after the earthquake. And Canada has been under quarantine for... I don't even know how long now. Over there, they don't mess around—the penalties are brutal. My take? Sure, people moved their wives and kids to safety, but it’s always the ones who *should* be staying put that break isolation. In the end, it's always the innocent people who pay the price.

I’m really wondering what’s going to happen with the lockdowns, living in the city versus being stuck out in the suburbs, not being able to move without some kind of pass, and having zero transportation options left. 👍

It’d be perfect if they just cut the power too, just to make the whole experience complete. 👍

They finally showed up and made a move because of the quake, and that was a whole two days after the shaking stopped. 🤦
The sheer panic of suddenly and violently evicting students from their dorms while simultaneously deciding to ban leaving Washington, D.C. was quite literally the worst way they could have handled this.
It’s proof that our "famous" Civil Defense is a total mess, there’s zero coordination, and clearly, Božinović can't make timely decisions on his own, which is just how it should be, right?...

If they had just gathered everyone up temporarily and organized them toward the Arena, which was already set up, and then worked on housing in the student dorms...
But no, instead they let people scatter and fend for themselves first, then scrambled to talk about closing markets, and only then thought about what to do with a mass migration caused by a pandemic...

That chronic incompetence from Božinović and his crew completely trashed everything Beroš and the Health department had been working on for weeks.
We’ll see the true scale of the disaster caused by Božinović's ineptitude in about 10-15 days, when thanks to this ultra-clueless minister, we'll likely have 10,000-20,000 infections and God knows how many deaths.

Just watch the curve over the next few days and you'll see why there's a massive spike around April 1st...

It's going to get a lot, lot worse, because this is being fueled by the fact that a bunch of people in isolation were basically left to wander around on their own.
You can't blame those people; blame Božinović and his team, who were in a bigger panic than the citizens themselves.

Of course you'll still be able to go to the store.
As for the countryside where houses are spaced far apart... locking people up is just plain stupid. It's basically the same as telling someone in a big city they aren't allowed to step out onto their own balcony.

Based on my own experiences, which I've mentioned a few times now—this whole thing is looking pretty ridiculous.

So... honestly, I wouldn't be surprised by anything they pull next.

Maybe we'll eventually get permission to stand on our balconies or by an open window and—I don't know—clap for each other...
🤦🤦

I went ahead and shut off the gas and water at my apartment. I left the electricity on (mostly because I couldn't bear to empty out the freezer...) so we'll see how that goes. At least the bills should reflect actual usage.

Now I'm just sitting here waiting for the local Sanitation department to send over the bill for trash pickup.

Oh, they'll send it, don't you worry.

Though, I'd love to ask them how someone who wasn't even legally allowed to stay in their own apartment for a month—since it isn't their primary residence—is supposed to have generated any trash in the first place! 🤦

But let's be real, I'm afraid it'll just be another scene from a theater of the absurd.

Look, your place of residence isn't something you can just undo. As for the infection, I fall into a high-risk group, and hey, miracle of miracles, I'm only 50. Those measures would've been implemented one way or another, but honestly, I think both the public and Božinović were just caught in a massive panic.

This CDC guy is turning into such a massive joke. Look, I don’t have the highest opinion of the CDC to begin with (not that I want to get into why right now), but this whole thing is just crossing the line. It seems like there isn't a single job the political party can't hand out to one of their buddies, but the second they actually have to do something real? Total chaos.

Someone already brought this up, but let me say it again: none of the officials—and I'm looking mainly at Beroš here, since Capak seems way too dim to even answer this—has said:

- Just how much are all these anti-corona measures going to cost this country? First off, in terms of medical bills, and second, in terms of the economy grinding to a halt.

- How many people are going to die or end up permanently disabled compared to previous years, given that most of the healthcare system's resources are tied up fighting COVID? If we save, say, 100 people from the virus, but 500 more people die from other illnesses than they did last year, then the math just doesn't add up.

The only silver lining to crushing the economy is that the political party will finally be forced to start cutting salaries and laying people off in the public sector. Even that idiot Vilim Ribić is out there whining and crying about how cutting pay and firing public workers will hit consumer spending hard, which will lead to layoffs in the private sector because nobody will have money to buy anything... honestly, you can't even laugh at the guy anymore. It's not polite to laugh at people with special needs.

Anyway, Beroš and that little remnant of Capak are stubbornly dodging one specific question. See, incubation basically lasts up to 14 days. That means this stabilization at around 60 new cases over the last three days isn't the result of Capak's "tougher" measures (or his threats of even tougher ones, damn him!) but rather the stuff they did 7 to 15 days ago when they shut down cafes, restaurants, hair salons, and stuff like that. Just to remind them: that mass outing on Sunday, March 22nd in Washington, D.C. because of the earthquake is definitely going to cause a spike in infections in about a week (around April 1st). And Mr. Strict Joke will surely take that as ultimate proof that Americans weren't being obedient enough and need to be disciplined even harder.

Same goes for Beroš—he won't say why he didn't stop travel toward Italy and Austria in time, even though everyone knew those were the new hotspots where our first cases came from. Same goes for why he was letting locals return from Germany without quarantine, allowing them to join the first wave.

Either... or... maybe they actually have no clue what they're doing!!?? 😲

So they just practice being strict by blaming us and throwing around nonsense just to hide their own ignorance, incompetence, cronyism, and total disorganization!?

But nah, it couldn't be that. It's the political party! Hey! Par-ty!

Did I actually read this somewhere, or was I just dreaming that you can't change your registered address right now?🤔
For instance, I own an apartment in the city and want to update my residency. I’ve got the deed and everything is squared away with the Democratic Party..

Why is this blocked? Is it suspended, or is it just gone for good?🤔

Oh, absolutely...
Take my neighbor, for example. He works over in Germany and is only actually here maybe five days a year, barely fills half a bin annually, yet he still gets hit with full trash bills...
The city doesn't care if you actually produce waste or if they even bother to pick it up. They just send the bill and call it a day.

So I assume they aren't charging for the actual pickup? 🤔... just the fixed service fee.

I mean, come on... wouldn't it be nice if they waived that part of my bill just out of the goodness of their hearts? Sure, it's technically $5.00... but it would be fair and decent.

(God, I can't believe I just used the words "fair and decent" in the same sentence as City Hall...🤦)

And where exactly do you think people who moved out actually work? In Washington, D.C.
Do you honestly think husbands, wives, and kids all left their homes just to be infected there? If you actually have a clue what you're talking about, staying in Washington, D.C. is clearly the better move—at least if your symptoms take a turn for the worse, you can be in a hospital within five minutes.
Thirdly, is it really better to be in a house with a yard, living 200 meters away from your neighbors, rather than stuck in an apartment complex sharing an elevator and touching the same door handles and buttons every single day?

What on earth are you even talking about?

I haven't seen anything from tessaa lately! Where'd they go? Anyway, what's up everyone? kaže:
I shut off the gas and water at the apartment. Left the electricity running though—mostly because I couldn't be bothered to empty out the freezer... so, whatever happens, happens! Bills should just reflect whatever we actually end up using.

Now I’m just sitting here waiting for the city to finally get its act together with Waste Management. Seriously. Waste Management Just got hit with that trash bill. Seriously?

Oh, he absolutely will, don't even sweat it.

I mean, seriously? How am I supposed to ask them how someone could have possibly made any mess at all if they weren't even allowed to stay in the apartment for a month because they didn't officially live there? Like, come on! 🤦

I’m honestly terrified this is just going to be another act in this massive theater of the absurd.

And don't you dare think for a second that one of those city-run agencies is actually gonna send you a bill! Seriously, did you catch how Bloomberg reacted when that reporter asked if Washington, D.C. was finally gonna stop charging for parking like other major US cities? He basically lost it! He was like, "That question is more dangerous than a global pandemic!! I'm not just some politician, I am an institution—I've been elected mayor six times! Don't play games with me!"

They were charging me even before I'd even received my bin. 🤦
And then they'd have the nerve to bug me about taking out the trash even though I'd been paying for the service all year long. 😵

Until I finally lost it and went over there to yell at them, telling them to get their act together and deliver that bin within five minutes or else...
