Is he seriously entertaining the idea of a conflict with Greece or Syria (Russia)? Or maybe he’s just looking for a little bit of French influence to satisfy that stubborn streak of his?
What an absolute idiot.

Trouble is brewing in paradise. Our democratic ally Saudi Arabia just slapped an embargo on imports from Turkey, and I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the Gulf monarchies follow suit.
The big question mark remains the United Arab Emirates. They’ve been playing along with Saudi Arabia lately, though we all know they’re usually the ones pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Is there anyone left who hasn't earned the wrath of the Sultan?

Turkey: All the power, all in the President's hands

That two-year state of emergency kicked off back in June 2018, and man, it really trashed the whole concept of democracy and basic rights. The commission is basically pointing out that we desperately need an independent judiciary, a real separation of powers, and actual fair trials for people. According to the commission's assessment, the entire constitutional setup is just one big power grab by the President, leaving zero balance between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. As for fighting corruption? Total non-starter—zero progress there. Instead, things have actually gone downhill for human and civil rights. Turkey started talks way back in 2005, but let's be real, the path toward the EU is completely frozen right now.

The article mentions there's a strong push to kick them out of the F-35 program entirely. Since they manufacture about 100 different parts for it, the transition wouldn't be easy—they probably couldn't fully cut ties until sometime in 2022.😁

It would be quite something if things really went south, wouldn't it? Honestly, I suspect those Turks wouldn't hesitate for a single second to deploy those Patriot missiles if the situation called for it.

Using Patriot missiles to track Greek F-16s is quite a clever move...

According to the news over in Greece:
Pompeo’s visit prompted by Turkey’s Patriot missiles

The Greeks are absolutely loving this partnership between the Turkish and Russian defense industries. I mean, really... what could be a better alliance than Putin and Erdogan?
One sells to the other just to make sure they can directly threaten the Greeks.

The same logic applies to the Americans and their bases in Turkey.

Everyone sells weapons to Turkey just as they sell them to anyone else with enough cash. At the end of the day, isn't it all just pure business?

Everyone conveniently forgot about that whole Cyprus-Greece S-300 mess... which, let's be honest, happened before Putin was even a factor:

The White House slams Erdogan's "unacceptable" comments regarding Macron

During a speech aired on Turkish TV, Erdogan suggested that Macron should go get his mental health checked...

It’s just beneath a president... totally lost all dignity by stooping to that level. 🕺

Honestly, Erdogan is spot on here.

Besides, Erdogan exerts influence right in his own backyard, while Macron is always sticking his nose into everyone else's business.

It’s clear you don't know the backstory at all. If you did, you wouldn't have posted such nonsense.

I really don't want to waste my breath explaining the basics, honestly...👋.

I guess that might actually help Canada. Any kind of move that weakens Turkey's influence could be a good thing, maybe.

Unfortunately, none of that will move the needle, much like those sanctions failed to do. To them, this will likely just be interpreted as a green light to continue acting with total impunity.

The backstory is just Macron's obsession with chasing women.

And he'll bully anyone in his neighborhood who lets him.
