It looks like they finally pulled it from the shelves. Honestly, I’m kicking myself for not grabbing one when I had the chance 🕺

No, I was actually referring to the conductor feature. They temporarily disabled it—or maybe there was just a glitch in the app—but you can request it again once you hit a certain transaction threshold using your Visa card (which is always an option).

How much of a headache is depositing cash? What’s been your experience—any specific limits I should know about?

I travel around the USA quite a bit, so I was wondering if anyone here has experience using Chime. Their FAQ mentions you can mostly deposit cash in Germany—even at certain retail stores?
Do you happen to know of any other online banks that offer cash deposits similar to Chime? For example, PayPal doesn't really have a top-up option like that.

You can only deposit or withdraw cash in Germany or Austria, and even then, it's limited to specific stores and certain amounts. Like, in Austria, you could go into a Bill, Mercury, or Walmart and pull out up to $200 at a time, or maybe $900 over a 24-hour period. You just head to the register and show them a code on your phone. For deposits, you can do up to $100 a month without fees—anything over that hits you with a 1.5% commission.

@Kevin Morris12 So, did you end up pulling the trigger on the conductor? I think I finally placed my order for one today...

Every single time I scroll past a new post, I find myself hoping against hope that it’s finally available here in the States 😁

I did! I grabbed it the very first day they brought it back.
Honestly, I have no idea why they’re dragging their feet so much when it comes to launching this service here in the States. It’s not like they’ll be issuing statements in any outdated currency anyway; we all know that. It was actually pretty hilarious reading the Twitter threads a few months back when they launched in Switzerland and offered them accounts in Euros instead of Francs. The Swiss users absolutely tore them apart in the comments—not a single positive remark to be found. 🤣 Here, people would probably be tripping over themselves just to get access, haha.

My apologies, but what exactly is the advantage of using the Conductor over VISA? And does the Conductor work with Google Pay as well?...

I end up traveling to the Netherlands a couple of times a year—where they mostly stick to Maestro—and I hit up Germany quite a bit too, where a ton of shops still only take Maestro. Honestly, even back home in the States, there are a few spots that are pretty much Maestro-only.
So, I guess it’s probably just a good idea to have it on you when you're trekking around the European Union.
