Is anyone else having issues with their Venmo account?

I've been using the card and the app for years without a single hiccup, but lately, everything has just gone sideways...

It started with this incredibly awkward moment at the grocery store where I was standing there at the register with my groceries, only to have the transaction declined despite knowing damn well there was enough money in the account...

So, I sent an email to figure out what was going on, and they hit me with a request for re-verification, but even after I did that, my profile still wouldn't work; instead, they just sent back some canned response asking me to explain my typical spending habits...

I sent over all the documentation they asked for and now I've just been sitting here waiting for nearly two days for any kind of reply... I tried calling customer support directly, but they just told me I had to handle everything through email...

I actually ran into this exact same thing twice. I had a healthy balance on the account, yet my transactions were rejected both times—it was incredibly embarrassing, especially since these were just small purchases. I called customer service from the retail locations, but neither time could help me; they just told me to follow up later with an explanation. They never actually followed up. About two months ago, I finally cut ties with Apple Pay and tossed it. I originally used it for online shopping and as a backup when traveling in case I lost my wallet, but honestly, the bugs were just too much—not for me, thanks! That’s just my experience, though—I know plenty of people who swear by it.

Hey guys, quick question—has anyone else dealt with their debit card getting slapped with a sudden block? I was picking up some random stuff on AliExpress last night and when I tried linking my card to PayPal, it just wouldn't go through. Kept throwing an error saying the transaction couldn't be completed. Just out of curiosity, I tried buying this tiny little thing from another web shop for like $3, and boom—card declined. Message said to "check funds or contact customer support." I had about $50 sitting in my account, so there's definitely no issue there. I called customer service today and they sent everything over for review to figure out why the card got flagged. Has anyone else been through this mess? Any luck actually getting the block lifted after they start investigating?..

Mine got locked out, but just enough to trigger that "try again later" error message. It usually clears up after about half an hour...

It’s probably not a lockout, just some technical glitch...

How many cards am I actually allowed to link up in the app?
Because, honestly, since this morning I haven't been able to add a single one... the "add card" button just isn't showing up in my linked cards menu anymore. Right now I've only got two active. I used to have three—I kind of thought that might be the limit, too!

I've got seven of them sitting there right now, and they're already trying to push more on me.

"For security reasons, you can't save more than two bank cards to your PayPal app within a short timeframe. Once the security hold period passes, you'll see the option to add a new card again."
That’s what I got. Honestly, I had no idea that was even a thing!

They completely froze my account. All I got was some canned response about how if they suspect a violation of terms or if security features are compromised, they reserve the right to restrict or block access...

I never received a straight answer as to why they shut me down.

Right before the freeze, I made a few larger withdrawals from an online sportsbook... maybe around $5,000 total, so it's possible they don't take kindly to large transfers, or they're worried about money laundering or something along those lines... 🤷

I still have about $800 sitting in there, and they sent an email mentioning the option to transfer the balance to my checking account, which I applied for immediately. Now I've been waiting over eight days for them to process it, but nothing has happened... they aren't exactly known for being fast or efficient when it comes to this stuff...

A few days ago, I went to top up my account linked to a card I don't actually have on me. When I tried, I ended up calling customer service, and they told me they’ve rolled out new security measures—now, the actual cardholder has to manually approve every single transaction through their app. It wasn't this complicated before; you could just move the funds and be done with it. Personally, I think it's a massive hassle, and honestly, I probably won't bother using my Venmo card anymore.

When I pull money from my checking account, I just get a push notification from my bank. No extra confirmation steps needed. Might just depend on how much you're moving.

Same thing happens with PayPal. I wouldn't say it's about the amount, because I've moved anything from $50 up to $1667. A confirmation window pops up and then just closes itself immediately. It’s incredibly convenient, even though I wouldn't mind manually confirming the transaction myself. If the app at least remembered my CVV or if they finally added Google Pay, it would be perfect. 😁

I tried moving $50 today and didn't get prompted for any authorization or security clearance. It works just like it used to—I just enter the amount and the funds hit my gift card. They might have phased out those extra steps.

Honestly, even just being able to skip photographing every single new card I add would save me so much hassle. It’s such a chore! I tried using Courtney to get around it, but even that works only half the time.

Looking at the big picture, though, I don't really see AirCash becoming a legitimate, low-cost fintech competitor like Revolut. To me, it feels more like one of those predatory services where everything comes with a catch. What they’re offering for free right now seems like nothing more than a promotional hook; I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap the freebies and revert to their old ways pretty soon. That said, they do have some interesting features for the time being...

My phone ended up remembering the CVV for all my cards. Once you add a card, it asks you for it a couple of times at first, but then it just stops...

It keeps asking me on iOS, even though I've had my cards saved there for two or three years now, yet it still prompts me for them 🤷
