So, I went to this place and dropped 200 bucks on some Aetna gift cards—four of them at 50 bucks each—mostly because this lady refused to take straight cash for a direct deposit. She basically swore up and down that all I had to do was type the codes from the cards right into the Cash App.
But now I’m staring at my phone like... how the hell am I actually supposed to do that?
Did I seriously just screw myself over here?
Your best bet is to just hit up Customer Service. They'll walk you through the whole thing in two seconds.

You can totally do that. You'll just need their transfer details—basically their routing number and account info. Just hit them up and ask for those specifics. Once you pull the trigger, the cash usually hits their account by the next business day or maybe the day after.🙂

So, I’m trying to settle up my AT&T bill using Cash App, but all I’ve got is this weird linear barcode—I think it’s called PDF417 or something? Does anyone know if there's a way to just scan and pay that thing? Or maybe even turn that barcode into a standard QR code?
EDIT:
Turns out, if I used a code generator (https://parepristizu.com), the scanning actually worked. Fingers crossed everything goes through smoothly without any drama...

Yeah, but it wouldn't let me scan the code from my payment slip... it kept trying to scan the one I generated myself instead... super annoying, right?

I ran into the exact same thing about a year ago. Chase scanned it without an issue, but Cash App wouldn't touch it. I filed a report, they patched the bug in a later update, and let me know when to try again.
I'd suggest doing the same...

A few questions for the group:
1. I’ve been using PayPal via Cash App for a little while now, but then—out of nowhere—Mastercard blocked me from updating my card info on PayPal for no apparent reason... Am I totally off base if I suggest that PayPal and Mastercard just don't get along? It feels like there's some friction there—even though they told me my account was in excellent standing on the PayPal side... I’ve used Visa without a single hiccup, yet it seems like people are constantly running into issues when they try using Mastercard
2. If my plan is to just load cash onto Cash App specifically for online shopping—since it's essentially a prepaid setup—is anyone going to come knocking on my door? I'm not talking about massive amounts here... just maybe $100–$200 a month
3. When you go to close an account, does the balance need to be at exactly zero?
Many thanks

Hey, I can't say for sure on that first one. I don't think it's some weird vendetta between PayPal and Mastercard; works perfectly fine for me. I've never had PayPal or any other service give me grief using a Mastercard. As for your second question, nobody's going to bother you. You're just making regular purchases. Honestly, using a Cash App card is actually safer than using your main bank card anyway.
When you close the account, you've got the option to transfer whatever's left back to your bank account. You just gotta hit up their support via email with your banking details to sort it out. A buddy of mine closed his once, but he ended up opening a new Cash App account later. You can always do that too.

Has anyone ever attempted to receive or send money via Cash App using this specific method?
Let’s say Person "A" needs to send you, say, $33, but there’s a catch—they don't actually have Cash App and they aren't interested in downloading it.
So, here is the idea: You go into the app and generate a QR code for a payment to your Cash App account. Instead of showing that QR code to a cashier at, let's say, a 7-Eleven, you just take a quick screenshot of the code on your phone. Then—and here is the kicker—you send that screenshot over to Person "A" via something like iMessage or WhatsApp. From there, Person "A" simply shows that screenshot to the cashier at the 7-Eleven, and through that transaction, the funds are deposited $33 directly into your Cash App account.
I do hope I’ve made myself clear enough!

Aha, I see where you're coming from. It sounds like PayPal might be a bit wary of prepaid cards—they likely find them "fishy"—and perhaps Mastercard blocks them by default under certain conditions. It wouldn't make much sense if five transactions go through smoothly and then suddenly everything gets blocked out of nowhere... In general, though, Cash App is wonderful for everyday things—standard shopping, eBay, that sort of thing. I haven't had any trouble with refunds with them, and overall, they seem fair, helpful, and their fees aren't even that high. They get my full approval...
Regarding the closing process, you could also do it via an ATM or wherever you typically withdraw funds; there's that 4% fee, so you could just calculate an amount where, after subtracting the 4%, your balance hits zero. Then you just close it out.
I am also wondering... since it is a prepaid account, is it treated like a standard checking account?

I actually have two different prepaid cards linked to my PayPal—one is a Visa and the other is from Cash App—and both work flawlessly for online shopping and paying bills.

It actually works—you can even churn out a bunch of QR codes in a row, snap them, and send them off. They all work for paying specific amounts. I haven't really tested how long a code stays active after you make it, though. I know they last at least a week since I've done that before. It’s kind of a joke, though—once you generate a code, if you don't snap a picture and you hit back, that code is gone forever. But since the code is still valid, I assume there's some list of open codes just hanging out on their servers somewhere. So, there's probably an expiration date... just no clue what it is.
So I picked up a Cash App card at a 7-Eleven today.
Got the app set up and logged in.
But I didn't snap a photo of my ID...
Why the hell do they even need that?
Anyway.
I've got some cash I want to load onto the card.
Where do I go?
And now it's asking me to activate the card.
What’s that supposed to mean?[/QUOTE
Look, most of the time I just dump money into Cash App straight from my debit card, but if you're strictly carrying paper, you can always hit up a convenience store to load it.
That activation thing? It's basically just identity verification. They gotta make sure you aren't some underage kid or some scammer using a fake name to dodge the law.
Hey there, quick question—is it actually possible to move some funds from PayPal directly onto an AirCash card?

Nah, you can't. PayPal only plays nice with Visa, and Venmo is on Mastercard.
So, what did I do? A few days ago, I just opened a Chime account, moved my cash from PayPal to Chime, and then sent it from Chime over to Venmo...
