They’re constantly shoving these surveys down our throats at work.
The higher-ups hire some fancy consulting firm—probably something like McKinsey—to run market research on their business clients.
Do I even need to state the obvious here? It’s a total waste of my time, we gain absolutely nothing from it, and they completely ignore any actual feedback we give them anyway.

It’s almost like they take it personally when you tell them you don't have the bandwidth for their little questionnaires.
If you want your opinion to actually matter, pay up. ☕

The woman actually thought I was just refusing to answer! 😵 As if I'm going to be the one chasing *you* down.
WTF, who do you think you are?

Hey there! I’m not totally sure if this is the right thread for this—if not, feel free to move it along... Anyway, we got a call today from an appraiser over at JPMorgan Chase regarding the mortgage we have out in Switzerland, and they mentioned the bank sent them out to re-evaluate my property because the last time it was assessed was way back in 2006. I mean, okay, that makes sense, I guess, but it's got me wondering... does this happen to everyone? Is it just a standard thing they do, and am I actually required to say yes to it? Thanks!

My mother received a letter from her bank today, which finally provided me with some official clarity regarding this situation.
Essentially, the bank is collecting data—in this instance, Chase, though it likely applies to all major institutions—under the guise of anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering laws, as well as the federal crackdown on Americans who evade their tax obligations.
The bank is demanding that my mother visit a local branch 🙂 with her driver's license 🙄 to answer a mountain of questions—essentially filling out endless survey forms... 🙂
The core issue remains:
Why is a private bank performing the duties that should fall strictly under the jurisdiction of the police, the IRS, and federal authorities? 🤷

I mean, I really wish they’d just send that over in writing, you know? Just so I could respond by sending them my hourly rate or whatever. 🍿

The unspecified clerk didn't ask me a single thing... We actually ended up chatting quite a bit. She wished me the best, and I returned the sentiment.

I always seem to strike up a conversation with the bankers at that branch; they aren't busy, and the atmosphere seems pleasant enough... They are truly great 😁

I walk into JP Morgan Chase... Head to the counter... And tell the lady: I need to make this deposit.
She says: That's fine, we just need to complete this financial questionnaire first; it's mandatory...
Me: 🐔
Her: Are you still a student?

(And suddenly everything clicked—she hit the nail right on the head 😵 she caught me off guard, haha)
Then I realized: oh, this is that survey from the forums xD...

So I told her: Sorry, I used to work for a market research agency, and I am under no obligation to fill this out... Can we just proceed with the deposit?

She went silent, processed the transaction, and we finished the deposit...

I felt a bit bad. But there is no way I'm filling that out just to be bombarded with targeted questions every time I visit... They can guess when they want to pitch me a savings account, an American Express, or something similar 🙂

I really can't be bothered digging through the official regulations (you know, the ones backed by actual law), but things are gonna stay this way for another year... After that, well, kiss the account goodbye, and you can go ahead and keep using unspecified... or maybe just trade goods, whatever works for you. 🙂

BTW, I'm genuinely curious what kind of hourly rate someone like rowdypilot19 is pulling 😬

Does anyone happen to know someone working at a bank? I'm assuming they had to deal with all this bureaucracy and paperwork themselves... would be interesting to hear what actual bank employees think about any of this

It seems to me they are just as overwhelmed as the rest of us...
Though there are likely some who love it—mostly because they’ll probably see their names pop up on a screen somewhere...

Mate Matić—employed, married, debt-free, has kids.
Try pitching him a mortgage or asking if he wants to book a vacation next. xD

.......
I stepped into the USPS today, if I can digress for a moment... the clerk tried to sell me a CNN subscription and supplemental insurance. Then you walk into Walmart and at the checkout, they ask if you were satisfied with your purchase...
It is simply too much. It is truly hard to believe people are forced to push these absurdities... 😠 I feel for the employees.

First off, just to be clear, nobody has actually reached out to me about this at all. Not one person. I guess... I mean, I haven't heard a single word from anyone regarding this situation.

Also, I kind of wish they’d just shut it down, you know? Not that it really matters since I'm not even in the States right now, and the business isn't mine anyway. I guess it'll be pretty interesting to see what actually happens to all those accounts belonging to people who aren't around anymore. 🍿

I mean, at the end of the day, I’ve got a contact over at JP Morgan Chase who can just handle all of this without any drama... but honestly? Even if they fix it, the answer to everything is still just a big NO. 🤣

I mean, I guess for them, it’d probably be like... what, maybe $1,100? Heh.

I guess I should probably start by saying that... well, I don't really know how to put this into words properly. It’s just one of those things, you know? Maybe I'm overthinking it, or maybe I'm just seeing things differently than everyone else, but I feel like there's something important here that we aren't really talking about. I mean, I could go on and on about it, honestly. My mind keeps jumping from one thought to the next—one second I'm thinking about the main point, and the next, I'm wondering if I even understood the premise to begin with! But, anyway... regardless of all that, I just wanted to share what I was feeling. It feels right to say it out loud, even if it sounds a bit scattered. I hope that makes sense. I really do.

So, I was over at JP Morgan Chase about a month ago, right? And honestly, they didn't really ask me anything—nothing at all, actually. It was just... there. But, I guess I was wondering if I could maybe get some insight from someone who works a bit higher up than the folks behind the teller windows? Just, you know, someone with a little more authority or experience, I suppose.

I guess I should probably start by saying... well, there isn't much to say yet, really. It's just one of those things where you look at the situation and you aren't quite sure where to land on it. Maybe that's just me being indecisive, though. I don't know. Anyway, I was thinking about it, and honestly, it feels like we're all just waiting for something to actually happen, which is kind of exhausting if you think about it. Or maybe I'm overthinking it? Probably. But yeah, I guess that's the gist of it.
I mean, I guess there isn't much to say about that, really... just a name, I suppose? It feels like we're just drifting through these threads without much direction, maybe. It’s all a bit vague, isn't it? Just one word. I don't know. Anyway. kaže:
I mean, I guess they’ve probably had just about enough of it too... maybe. It feels like everyone is reaching their breaking point at this point.
I mean, I guess there are probably people out there who would actually think that's a killer idea—mostly just because they’ll likely have it staring right at them from a screen somewhere...

So, about Mate Matić—he’s got a job, he’s married, doesn't have any debt hanging over his head, and he's got kids too. I guess that's just how it is.
Maybe we should suggest a mortgage to him... or I don't know, maybe just ask if he's thinking about taking a trip somewhere? xD

.......
So, I stepped into the USPS today, and I guess I’m just going to go a little off-topic here... but the clerk there actually tried to pitch me a CNN subscription. And then, get this, she offered me supplemental insurance too. It's kind of wild. It reminds me of when you're at Walmart—you know, you get to the checkout line and they immediately start asking if you were satisfied with your shopping trip. It feels like everyone is always trying to sell you something lately, I guess. Maybe it's just me.
I mean, I guess... what is "too much"? Like, there’s just no such thing as too much, right? Or maybe there is? Honestly, I feel like if you go way past the limit, it just becomes... well, it's just too much. It's excessive. It's just over the top. I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it, but sometimes everything feels like it's just hitting a point where it's simply too much. Overkill. Just... yeah. Too much.I mean, I honestly can't wrap my head around it... I really can't. It’s just wild to me that people actually feel like they have to pour their money into that kind of madness. Like, seriously? I guess some people just love the chaos, maybe, but I just don't get it. It's crazy. 😠 I feel bad for the employees. I really do. It’s just... I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it feels heavy. I guess you just have to wonder what they're going through behind the scenes. It's tough. Truly.
It’s always like that, isn't it? You finally get behind the wheel, you’re all set to go, and then you pull into a gas station—maybe a Shell or a BP—and suddenly the clerk starts hitting you with this massive list of fifty different things they want you to buy just so they can snag a little commission. It’s kind of ridiculous, honestly. Like, I just wanted fuel, you know? But no, now I have to listen to a pitch for half the inventory in the store. Haha.

I have no intention of driving a car.🙂

Maybe something solar-powered... though that would make the gas station obsolete entirely.😁

And who exactly said I’d have children?

If I end up having them, they’ll ride bikes on their own once they grow out of the toddler phase. For now, I’ll probably just use a child seat or one of those bike trailers you see people using over in the Netherlands or Stockholm. If you have the will, you can always find a way to make it work.

I have no idea what kind of rural backwater you’re living in, but in actual American cities, we were enrolled in the nearest elementary schools—which are usually close enough to walk to—in an incredibly short amount of time 😁. All a kid needs is a basic understanding of how to cross the street safely; by high school, they can handle themselves just fine 🤣
