Honestly, when it comes to handling email inquiries, those guys are in a league of their own.
They’re incredibly responsive; I mean, they always get back to you lightning fast.

How does the billing work for the Visa Walmart card? It’s a revolving credit line, but I picked up a coupon for Walmart if I use it for my purchases.

I really don't want to trigger the revolving interest, so I'm not sure at what point the balance starts getting split up versus when the full amount hits my statement... Or can I just pay off the entire balance myself regardless of how they bill it, so I avoid the interest charges entirely?

You get your monthly bill and it says:
-New charges: $xx
-Minimum amount due: $x

Honestly, I just pay the full balance every single month and completely ignore whatever nonsense they claim is the "minimum" on the statement. It’s much simpler that way.

Does anyone know when they actually approve the Mozart installment plan? Someone mentioned that once you have three paychecks hit your account, the approval happens automatically. I just had my third paycheck land this month, but I haven't seen anything yet (checked both online banking and at the ATM today).

Also... they finally let me install the new mobile banking app, and honestly, it seems pretty solid so far.

One of the new features is the instant display of card authorizations. It shows up as "pending" as soon as you click into the transaction. You don't have to wait two or three days for them to post it like you did with the old app—though the total balance would decrease immediately, it was always a bit clunky if you had a lot of transactions and couldn't remember exactly what you'd spent money on.

Another thing I noticed is that you can upload payment codes directly from your photo gallery, which is a nice touch! It looks like they might actually be getting things right for once. 🙂

Anyone here have some firsthand intel on what actually goes into the creditworthiness calculation? Are they just looking at the raw net pay, or do things like travel stipends and meal allowances get tossed into the mix too?

If I remember your previous posts correctly, you used to be with Goldman Sachs—how does their new mobile banking stack up against this one?

And are they rolling out a new online banking portal alongside this? Based on the app description in the App Store, they mention access to "unified digital banking," which sounds like a fancy way of saying new web banking.

So, basically, it's something similar to Bank of America or Goldman Sachs.

Do you have an overdraft protection limit set up?
My experience was a bit different: after my second—or maybe first—paycheck hit in June, they approved a Maestro installment limit for me equal to one full salary (which is about a third of my total overdraft limit, since my limit is three salaries).
Then, sometime in August, I got a letter in the mail confirming both the overdraft and the Maestro installments were good to go.
Just swing by a JPMorgan Chase ATM if you're out and about and check "Maestro Installments - Balance Inquiry."
Or just shoot them an email; they’re actually pretty responsive to inquiries, provided you use the email address they have on file for your account authorization.

Fantastic!
How did you request the installation?
Mine still says "Available to select customers."

Compared to Goldman Sachs, this new JPMorgan setup seems better to me (though I haven't used George yet, so I can't say for sure).

Yeah, they say it's integrated with online banking, but there aren't really any options available yet. There's no built-in token in the new app, but they mentioned everything is still in development, so I assume it'll show up soon.

After I sent an email asking them to enable it for me, I got an automated response and a notification in mobile banking. That was it—I just had to enter my old mobile banking PIN and set a new one. Now both versions are working at the same time.

It’s actually pretty great how you can see card transactions the very second you make them.

I've had an overdraft limit equal to two paychecks since my first deposit back in November. Now I've requested to have it bumped up to three. I haven't actually used the overdraft yet, so maybe that's why...

I actually tested what you said at the ATM yesterday. It just said "transaction declined" or something similar; I only realized they hadn't approved it because I clicked to check my Maestro installment balance.

Wait, so you have a three-paycheck overdraft, but you don't have the Green or Orange package that allows for that 300% limit? I asked if canceling the package would drop my overdraft limit on my $0.00 account down to 200%, but they wouldn't give me a straight answer—just some "better to keep the package" blah blah blah. I'm just curious if they'll actually reduce it if I cancel.

I can't say for sure about the specific package you're on, but I have a recurring charge hitting my account every month $20 - it shows up as "Monthly Service Fee - $5.50".
The ATM situation is bizarre; normally, it should have displayed something like "Approved: $0.00, Available: $0.00" instead of just flat-out rejecting the transaction without any explanation.
Most likely, they'll approve that Mozart installment plan sometime in January or February.
Do you happen to have their Visa credit card?

Anyway, they offer two different packages—one is $13, and the other is $27. Honestly, I have no idea what exactly you're being charged for.

I actually carry two master cards myself; one is the Walmart one which is revolving, and the other is a charge card with that $333 limit they typically set by default when you take out a line of credit. I only used the one from $333 for a single online order. Everything has been paid in full since day one, so I assume they'll approve me soon.

I ended up taking out a cash loan from them myself to clear out some old credit card debt and a few other loans. They approved me for $30,000 on a Walmart revolving line almost instantly. I don't actually carry a Visa Signature, though. Currently, I’m running about three paychecks in overdraft, and my John Doe is being paid off over the course of a single paycheck.

Does everyone actually get a card with this? My credit just got approved, so I have to head in to sign all the paperwork—but nobody mentioned anything about a card during the process. To be fair, I was working through Progressive

It probably just depends on whatever mood the clerk happens to be in that day. Personally, the second my loan was cleared, I went ahead and signed my contract with Microsoft.
That option only really kicks in if you're looking at a loan of $120,000 or more.

Yeah, it’s definitely larger.
I mean, hopefully they actually lay it all out for me when I'm sitting there signing the paperwork.

How long did it take before you finally got your card in the mail?

Alright, one more question and then I'm out of here!

Did they actually give you a specific $10000 credit limit, or is it just enough to cover what you need? This might sound like a total rookie question—I know—but I remember reading somewhere that having a certain amount available is basically the bank's way of saying "thanks for trusting us" with the loan though honestly, I can't quite remember where I stumbled upon that bit of info

There’s no way they’d just hand him $4,000 for nothing; that would basically mean they aren't making any interest on it at all.

That's his spending limit, so if he uses the card, he'll have to cover the costs...

I mentioned before that I was just sending a thank-you note regarding the credit—or at least, that’s how they phrased it to me. I even moved my checking account over to them.
Honestly, $5,000 isn't a bad amount; I'm actually quite pleased with how their Visa services have been working out.
By the way, Antonio, do transactions made through Microsoft show up instantly in the new mobile banking app?

leky, I haven't actually used my master since I set up this new banking app, but I assume it should show up right away. I'll let you know if I run any transactions with it 🙂
