Does anyone actually know what the deal is here? I really don't feel like calling the agency; those conversations always drag on way longer than they need to.

Higher premiums... "new terms" is just fancy talk for "it costs more."😁

Personally, I just signed up and paid with my card through the website, and the policy showed up at my house in about four days.

I actually reached out to an agent I found on their site to see if they’d honor the same rate, and now I'm just sitting here waiting for them to send over the quote.
I'll let you know how the offer looks once it lands...

Honestly, this is $6.00 cheaper than what I ended up paying last year. I’m not exactly thrilled with it, though, so I’ll probably reach out to a few more places just to see if I can strike gold with a better deal.

I actually just got off the phone with a local agency in Miami...$0.34, and for now, they’ve got the lowest price on the table.

I ended up pulling the trigger with GEICO for $319, the terms are basically identical across the board... heh.

Here’s the breakdown of my insurance premiums over the last few years:
pre-2013 (USA) - $560
2013 (Generali) - $433
2014 (Generali) - $467
2015 (Vienna) - $322 ,which includes bonus protection, roadside assistance, legal aid, and passenger coverage up to 40/80,000

euroherc keeps their prices pegged right at the top of the bracket. Honestly, I have no clue how much money they’re bleeding out by being so stubborn about it, but man, they are definitely digging their heels in.
I actually jumped ship from them too—I realized after years of everyone preaching about staying loyal to one provider just to get some sympathy during a claim that, frankly, price is the only thing that actually matters to me when I'm choosing. It's not like these massive corporations are any different once you actually file a claim, anyway. I've had enough runaround with big firms like State Farm and their endless stalling when it comes to cutting a check.

Hey, I’m looking for some insight on a bit of a situation I've got going on.

Back in April, I finally hit that milestone where I earned my first 50% discount based on my insurance policy.
Then, around August, I sold that car and picked up a different one—this one already has an existing policy from the previous owner. My registration is coming up in November, so I'm wondering if that 50% discount still follows me, or if it's tied to the old vehicle. Do I need to show them my old policy paperwork to prove it?

I noticed there are quite a few insurance pros hanging out on this forum;
Could someone give me a ballpark estimate on what a policy would cost for an 85kw car in the Chicago area? (I'm 26). If you don't mind, maybe shoot me a DM with the details.

Thanks,

LP

Martin, just email me a photo of your current policy and the title for the vehicle you're looking to register, and I'll shoot an estimate over to your inbox. The price is the same whether you pay in installments or all at once. milan.preradovic@email.ht.hr

Does anyone know if it's possible to add collision coverage to an existing policy with Allstate after the fact?
It’s been about 20 days since I signed the papers for my basic liability coverage...

Comprehensive coverage is actually totally separate from your liability policy. I guess you might see some discounts if you happen to have your main policy with them, but it's not a requirement.

Aha, so that means I can just pick up comprehensive whenever I feel like it? It’s not like I'm forced to sign up for it right when I'm registering the car and handling the mandatory liability insurance.

Of course it’s always an issue. I mean, just imagine you go out today and buy a car that’s already registered and insured through, say, May 2016. What happens if you actually want full collision coverage, but the car doesn't have it? Or even worse, what if it does have it, but there’s no way to actually transfer that policy from the previous owner over to you?

So I swung by State Farm today to ask about transferring an insurance policy from my parents over to my own name—basically trying to carry over their safe driver discount. The woman behind the desk basically told me it’s a non-starter. Does anyone actually know what the requirements are to make this happen?

In America, you’ve got like 30 different insurance providers to choose from, so I honestly don't see why anyone would feel the need to limit themselves just to State Farm.

Highly recommend using Bankrate !! They tracked down the absolute best auto insurance rates for us.

Right now, the cheapest option is State Farm (which is part of the GEICO group).

They’re coming in at $400 less than $167the other guys
—can you believe that?--
Just figured I'd share... might help someone out.

I honestly have no idea what kind of logic you're using to claim the Rocky Mountains plan is 400 bucks $167 cheaper than anything else, or even more importantly, who exactly you're comparing it to. I mean, if you’re looking at Allianz and their specific tier, then sure, maybe there's a slight difference when you weigh it against some random online deal. Though, I guess you could argue that Allianz's pricing is somewhat justified by what's actually included in the coverage. As for comparing them to Allianz or those other big players, I really doubt there's that much of a gap if we're talking about actual in-person agents rather than just clicking buttons on a website.

The gap between those insurance providers is just massive 😁

I’m talking about searching online—not spending my entire day running from office to office.

For me, the Rocky Mountains quote was 850, while the other was $427 (though I assume the gap might widen on more comprehensive policies)... The only one that came close to the Rocky Mountains price was Mount Rainier. It's a pretty significant difference—not that I have a strong preference for one provider over another. For my dad's car, the difference was also around 300 bucks, so I'm inclined to agree with Nile.

I’m seeing around 930 for my Wiener/Uniqa policies, while everyone else seems to be landing somewhere in the 1100 to 1400 range. Though, I guess my birth year makes things a bit tricky since I don't fall into that 31 bracket.

It really just depends on where you're located and how much effort you're willing to put into dealing with all the headaches, but there can be massive discrepancies compared to what you see online—you might end up paying $67 or even more than those internet quotes suggest.
