Chrome and Mozilla keep telling me no certificate was selected, and IE 10. keeps throwing this error

image

I followed every single step in the manual to stop this from popping up, but nothing works. At this rate, I might as well go out and buy a whole new OS, since XP is ancient and won't even let me update to IE 10.

Now I’m starting to think maybe the USB stick or the certificates themselves are corrupted or something—who knows. What’s the deal with getting them reissued? Do I have to file some kind of formal request or what?

thanks

Forget about reissuing certificates. Just call their support line; they'll walk you through it step by step. You definitely missed something small somewhere along the line.

The solution is actually quite straightforward.

I encountered the exact same issue myself, yet if you look closely at the top right corner of your screen, you will see that Chrome has blocked the page. Simply click on that blocked extension icon, select the option to "Always allow," then close out of Chrome entirely and relaunch it. Once you do that, you should find yourself granted access to the certificate reissue program without further complication.

@Chloe Harris77, did you try using that workaround in Explorer through the tools menu to import the certificate? I can’t quite remember what my specific headache was—I think the certificates just weren't showing up as an option for me to pick. You don't really need a reissue in your situation. Customer support is usually decent and actually helpful, though I once had this lady on support call me on Christmas Eve asking to fix a problem for an hour and a half... only to find out her card reader was completely fried. Good luck!

Just wanted to give an update,

there were a bunch of errors 😁

Headquarters, while I was clearing out those old certificates to get things moving, I managed to sort out one new one 🙂 Even though I made sure to export everything properly first since I knew I might need them, of course, the import failed. It told me the file format wasn't supported 🤣 The lady over at Chase was actually in a good mood this time; I grabbed the stick after an hour with fresh certificates in hand.

After all that, I just hit "make available in Windows" and Chrome started working fine. Mozilla is still being difficult, even after following the manual fix. I’ll probably try to tackle the Explorer import again later, just in case. Man, if only there was a failsafe option.

Thanks for the help, everyone. My mom's going to sleep a lot better tonight thanks to this. 👍

I’m honestly having mini panic attacks just staring at this IRS portal, especially since I’m such a newbie at all this tax stuff. So, here’s the deal—I uploaded my sales tax data, thinking everything was smooth sailing, but when I go to check under the submitted forms section later, there’s absolutely nothing there. I’m pretty sure I signed off on it and everything looked fine, but now I'm second-guessing my entire existence. Does the system, like, need some kind of buffer period before the form actually shows up in the sent folder? Or maybe I somehow uploaded it to some random corner of the site I didn't notice? Or, god forbid, I didn't even actually hit upload in the first place... who knows? 🙂

Once you sign it, you still have to hit submit! 😉

Maybe that's the catch... check under "saved drafts" or "unsent forms"...

I really need some help here.
Back in February, we got approval regarding a business partner in Mexico for services we provided to them. We use Synesis, and when generating the sales tax return, the software populated field I.5 with $100 and then updated the other data on page 2 under section VIII.5 with $100.
The headache starts when we try to upload the return to the IRS portal.
It keeps throwing an error saying negative values aren't allowed. Here is the exact message they sent us:

The form doesn't comply with the required XML structure.

Technical details:
The 'http://irs.gov/schemas/tax/FormSalesTax/v9-0:Data850' element is invalid - The value '-306.77' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://irs.gov/schemas/BaseTypes/v2-1:tNonNegativeDecimal15-2' - The MinInclusive constraint failed.

The IRS system allows you to enter a value in field I.5 like $100, but for section VIII.5, it strictly demands positive numbers only. This means we can only enter $100. We even tried manually filling out the form directly on the IRS website, but no luck. What am I supposed to do?! Why shouldn't fields I.5 and VIII.5 have matching values? If this is a credit/adjustment, shouldn't it be reflected in field VIII.5 with a "-" sign?! 🤔

Just strip the negative sign from the other page.
They claim at the training seminars that it’s purely for statistical purposes. Based on how the form is actually designed, you really ought to skip the negative number entirely, since that would be the correct sum of the data from the first page.
But, look, if they refuse—if the IRS decides they won't accept negatives—... just delete it. It's not your problem. 🙂

Hey, if anyone knows what's going on...
I'm trying to submit my GFI-POD to FINRA, but I keep getting hit with this error saying "consolidated" isn't filled out. We're just a small LLC, so consolidation shouldn't even be on our radar.
On the reference page, the consolidation field is marked "no," but then sections AOP 155-170 are just sitting there empty.
I've got no clue where the glitch is.

Hi there,

Is there any way to bulk-download and archive all my tax documents from the IRS website onto my local hard drive at once for a specific period?

If that isn't an option, what would you say is the most efficient method for archiving these forms?

Thanks,

I don't get it. The IRS archives everything anyway. If you lose something or whatever happens, you can just hit them up for a printout, a transcript, or some kind of confirmation. It’s fine.

Why would you even need the IRS site for archiving forms? That completely defeats the whole purpose of having an online portal in the first place.

Anything you handle on your own computer related to work—you just archive it however you want.
You could use a CD, a DVD, an external hard drive, a thumb drive... you've got plenty of options. Honestly, it really just comes down to how much you actually know about computers.

Big corporations have entire IT departments to deal with this stuff, while small businesses are basically on their own.
If you aren't sure how to go about it, your best bet is to find an IT firm. Have them come out, look at your setup, see how your system is organized, and let them suggest a backup method that actually works for you.

So, I have this document sitting on my computer—for instance, if I’ve got a NASDAQ report saved after generating it through Synesis—I’m assuming the system spits it out as an .xml file.

And what about the confirmation receipts for sent items or the sales tax forms? I’m still stuck filling those out by hand. The IRS website only archives the previous year and the current one—so if you're looking for anything older than that, you're basically out of luck.

P.S. The IRS is insisting that everything has to be archived locally on your own computer in .xml format...

Exactly—which is why I make it a point to download every single form and confirmation in two formats—both PDF and XML—immediately after they are sent.
Even those forms you enter manually can be downloaded as XML files for local archiving, along with their respective confirmations.
I must admit, I wasn't aware that certain forms from, say, 2013 wouldn't be accessible; since you mentioned the IRS only archives the current and prior years, I really ought to verify that this coming Monday. As for the ETA reports, I know they only allow access to December 31st of the previous year and any date within the current one.
I hadn't realized there was an option for bulk downloading forms for an entire period—so, I suppose one might have to download them all individually.

Are you guys having any luck filing the GFI with FINRA?

I managed to get two through a couple of days ago, but now it looks like the server is completely down. It seems like there have been constant technical hiccups over the last few days...

Is there any possibility that the IRS will extend the GFI filing deadline until the end of the week, following their usual pattern from previous years?🤔

I honestly have no clue. I always try to get everything submitted a few days early, mostly because with their server issues and constant maintenance windows, you just never know when the whole system is going to go dark on you.
