Michelle Bishop said:Help! I’m hitting a wall while trying to upload this form, and I keep getting this error message:
The form doesn't match the required XML structure.

Technical details:
The 'http://irs.gov/schemas/requests/VATForm/v8-0:Name' element is invalid - The value '' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://irs.gov/schemas/BasicTypes/v2-1:tRestrictedStringMinMax128' - The actual length is less than the MinLength value.

What should I do here? Everything has been running smoothly until now...

Check the IRS validation code.

Hi there,

I just filed my first sales tax return for a new client, and everything looked perfectly fine during my initial review... yet here we are, two months later, and the filing is still just sitting there pending processing. I have absolutely no clue why it’s stuck in limbo like this.

Quick question: Is there any specific department or authority that can actually tell me what the error is so I can fix it and get this thing processed? Who am I even supposed to reach out to? I’ve tried calling the IRS, but they’re basically just giving me the runaround! Surely there’s a dedicated office meant to handle these kinds of hiccups, right?

Thanks so much in advance.👍

Honestly, from what I've seen, you shouldn't sweat it too much. I've had plenty of cases where things look stuck—I actually have one from back in early 2014 that's still showing as unprocessed—but if you check the ledger, everything was applied perfectly fine.
The main thing is just making sure you have a printed copy of the confirmation showing that it was successfully submitted. Personally, I always print out that receipt along with the actual return, then I just double-check the credits against my internal books and call it a day.

One time, an agent from the local tax office called me saying her system wasn't accepting a filing (even though mine looked good), but it turned out their entire network was just having a total meltdown. She called me back half a day later saying it was all sorted and she'd manually fixed the entry... meanwhile, on my end, the status was still showing as "in processing." So yeah, don't lose sleep over it...

Regards,

In my experience, the subscription status is constantly stuck on "pending"—meaning the form hasn't hit the ledger—even though the client has already paid the sales tax. It feels like a genuine issue to me.🤔

Honestly, the easiest fix would be to just give the IRS agent handling that company a call and figure out where the disconnect is. The absolute worst-case scenario here is having to resubmit the entire filing 🤷

I dealt with something similar once, so maybe I can shed some light on this..
it really depends on which month we're talking about, who the taxpayer is... are we looking at quarterly filings, monthly ones, and honestly, how much does the clerk actually know about what they're doing? why?

I had a situation where a client had a subscription filed on the 20th $0.00, but the clerk went ahead and processed the charge for that exact same amount... it caused a total mess between us. Basically, she was trying to tell me that the subscription amount was identical to the liability, so the guy still owed an extra 20 $0.00...
so, there are way too many variables at play here...

Shoot me a DM and I'll walk you through the details.🙂

Hey there,
What’s the best move if my digital tax and accounting certificates are about to expire?
Does the service provider usually send over a renewal contract automatically, or am I expected to hunt them down myself?...
Thanks!

Just take a look at these certificate renewal instructions. It’s pretty straightforward once you see it.

Honestly, your best bet is just to shoot an email over to info@irs.gov and ask them what to do when that error pops up. They'll probably give you a call pretty quickly to walk you through it. The folks working there are super friendly and helpful.😁

Hey, quick question about digital pension and health insurance filings. I run an accounting firm and already have my e-tax token through JP Morgan Chase. What else do I need to get set up for my clients' pension and health insurance submissions, and is there an extra fee for that?

There's no extra charge—you just use the same digital certificate you're already using for the IRS.

You’ll just need to take an authorization form down to the CDC and Medicare. They have all the instructions posted right on their websites.

Once that's done, you'll just need to set up access and a power of attorney for your clients to submit; after they hand those in, everyone you're working for will pop up in your menu so you can manage everything for them...

Hey there,

Anyone else dealing with this headache where the IRS site keeps throwing the "No certificate selected" error at them?

I renewed my certificates online and everything seemed totally fine. But I try to log in today and—nothing. Zilch. I’ve already followed their official troubleshooting guides and re-did all the steps, but it's just a total dead end.

Anyone have any leads or know what's going on?

thanks

If you have the active client installed, just jump in there, right-click your certificates, and select the option to make them available in Windows... then restart Chrome and give it another shot..

Good luck!

Maybe try switching between Chrome and Internet Explorer. Sometimes one works and the other doesn't, depending on the day. Peace.

So what's the move when you get hit with two identical forms? It didn't say anything about the first one being sent, so I just went ahead and submitted it again.

It shouldn't be much of an issue; they typically just take the most recent form as the correct one. That said, some IRS offices might ask for a brief explanation or a formal request to accompany the second submission.

Tried that, but I'm still hitting the same wall. 😢 My mom was actually planning to head down to Starbucks and the IRS tomorrow to figure out what's going on, though she'll probably just end up getting stuck in traffic.

Chrome and Mozilla keep telling me no certificate was selected, and IE 10. keeps throwing this error

image

I followed every single step in the manual to stop this from popping up, but nothing works. At this rate, I might as well go out and buy a whole new OS, since XP is ancient and won't even let me update to IE 10.

Now I’m starting to think maybe the USB stick or the certificates themselves are corrupted or something—who knows. What’s the deal with getting them reissued? Do I have to file some kind of formal request or what?

thanks
