I’m going to go ahead and kick back on the couch for a bit.

Or maybe: "Just pop some Xanax All the answers will find you eventually
Just take your Lexapro And finally see the light at the end of the tunnel"

You could actually put that in your signature.🀣🀣🀣

This is a space for anyone looking into psychotherapy.
It’s designed as a place where people with actual experience or trained therapists can offer some insight.

Think of this subforum as being similar to the one below titled formal debate.

Here’s my first contribution;

"I can give you advice, folks, but I can't give you brains." β˜•

Yogi Berra. Honestly, I think this is a way better setup. Stuff like anxiety, depression, BPD, OCD, Microsoft, all that heavy stuff stays over on Georgia, while these more...πŸ€” 😬...casual, less medical topics move over to Kodak.

If only that were true.😁 But it looks like that isn't the caseβ€”psychology is full of all sorts of different schools of thought. Less experienced.🀷 So, I’m still struggling to wrap my head around the logic they're using to distribute these...β€”I mean, I've been looking at the breakdown, and honestly, I just don't get the principle behind how they're dividing things up.

Man, oh man, here goes Depression too, then. What are they gonna do... just wipe out the non-experts on the Border Patrol website and leave only the pros?

If they start deleting everything at the borders, they'd be left with maybe three posts total on this whole thread.

... yeah, I think I get what you mean; this sub-sub-forum is basically just a collection of personal anecdotes and lived experiences... though, if we're being honest, drawing a hard line between them wouldn't be all that easy if we actually tried to go through with it...

Just walked through the door about half an hour ago. Man, what a day at the clinic... absolute mental warfare! Dealing with 66 patients, 900 rounds of chaos, and enough stories to fill a library!
Finally back on my couch! πŸ™‚

...and honestly, they wouldn't even leave those three constructive posts behind (I don't know, GPL, Alexandra Daddario, I don't really care about any of that 😬 ), they’d just leave that absolute slaughterhouseβ€”just to show everyone what moderation looks like in practice. 🀣

They might as well just leave those three copy-paste templates that everyone already knows by heart but doesn't actually grasp. I don't get why depression is the only thing that gets all this support while other conditions are left out in the cold. Every thread here basically follows the exact same pattern anyway.

Depression users actually started their own thread as the primary support hubβ€”sort of a place where they can check in on others they've met here, along with some general info sharing now and then. Eventually, the title was changed so it wouldn't confuse people who are just dropping in for general information. Though, I suppose that doesn't mean there isn't useful info in there.

The Anxiety thread is heading in a similar direction, and we won't hesitate to add a mention of support to the title if it turns out that’s what users truly need (though for now, we're trying to manage excessive chatting).

As for the Bipolar thread, we've been trying to moderate it toward constructive discussion for a while now. It doesn't function as much as a support topic, mostly because the users themselves tend to have a different approach. Since that topic often requires a bit of theoretical and conceptual clarification, I think the personal experiences of those living with Bipolar are actually a pretty good contribution to the broader discussions.

We'll provide a more detailed description of the Psychology Lounge subforum in a pinned thread sometime soon. I think you guys have already gathered the gist of itβ€”this is primarily a space for personal threads (help me please and things like that), asking about specific cases, some casual chatting in the designated areas, taking those psychology tests for fun, commenting on pop-psychology theories (like through news articles), motivational topics, etc. That way, the front section of the subforumβ€”where the general and slightly more technical topics liveβ€”will stay a bit cleaner. And honestly, it should make things easier for everyone.

We are still sorting out the various threads, so we'll have a clearer picture for you all in a little while. Thanks for bearing with us.

What exactly should we be covering when it comes to professional topics? I can't seem to find any clear guidelines defining the scope here.

p.s. It feels like keeping the recommendations focused on psychology would be better for our reach...
