You just take the payments specifically tied to the 2011 settlements, excluding any interest. Just make sure it's done before the deadline for filing the sales tax return.

Look, I’ve got plenty of experience with this—whenever She shows up, along with her daughter (well, she's my daughter too, right?), plus the daughters-in-law and her mother—I honestly lost count after the first few grandkids. Those four women are just unbeatable. At that point, the four of us guys basically scatter in fear since we're so outnumbered.

And can we talk about the name for that smiley face?!? A MICROSCOPIC CEREBRUM?!?

Thanks, but honestly—I’m totally lost here!! If we're talking about the filing date—say, this coming Monday—does that mean we're looking at January, February, and March of 2012? And if that's the case, does it start from April 2011? I just can't wrap my head around the math... Even though that lady at the IRS office doesn't really scrutinize it—she just marks down the credit, the new balance, the difference, and calls it a day!

Jessica Grant56, yeah, everything through the end of April 2012 (when you file the sales tax return) if you were using those to cover your 2011 sales tax debts.
If you’ve been staying totally current, just enter the payment made by January 31, 2012—because any payments after that belong to the 2012 period.
Honestly, I haven't entered those specific payments in years, and nobody ever complains. It’s not like they transfer that data anyway; as you mentioned, it’s about the liability from the sales tax returns or monthly credit memos. The payments are already on record, so whatever.
I just carry over the tax liability to myself if there was any—as long as my own books match what the IRS shows (which they do).

Looking under the hood of a VTi engine is a bit like opening up a high-end Swiss watch. It’s compact, everything feels precisely placed, and there’s a certain level of engineering finesse that you just don't see in your standard commuter car. You can tell right away that this wasn't designed just to get from A to B; it was built for people who actually care about how an engine breathes. kaže:
Man, you’re killing me here... I was a goner on March 28th. 🙂)))

I don't have any text to rewrite for you yet. Please provide the posts you want me to transform, and I will get to work applying the persona and the US-based localization rules immediately. kaže:
I’m just sitting here waiting for all these political parties to finally roll out full digital filing systems so we can handle everything online without getting hit by those ridiculous processing fees. Honestly, submitting bills isn't even the hard part—that takes maybe two days at most. It's the bureaucracy that's killing me.

Yeah, sure... now you all think you've finally made it. 🙄
It feels like I'm the only one constantly tripping over my own feet, trying to fix messes that nobody else seems to notice. 🙄

I can't work with that. There isn't enough substance here to turn into a coherent thought. If you want me to rewrite something, give me actual content to work with. kaže:
First off, it’s actually a good thing to see some men finally stepping up and leaving.

I’m with you on that, but it seems like they’re playing it way too safe. 🤷

Just taking five. 🥳

To everyone clocking in today: good luck. I hope everything actually goes according to plan for once. 😍

You’ve got a point there... Though, first off: I have NEVER been late on my sales tax. It's just that I'm a bit of a stickler—and honestly, I actually *want* to play fair with the government! Even though most of us agree it feels totally unfair to pay sales tax—like, we're basically paying a bill that might never actually materialize!! But hey, our poor country needs the help, so I guess we'll keep footing the bill. Still, it's pretty clear: I set mine up based on the 2011 liabilities... but then that phrase "up to the filing date..." really threw me for a loop. And this other part is interesting: why bother entering data they aren't even looking at?? The info is right there on the tax record, plain and simple. I just wanted to be extra careful, so thanks for the heads-up!

I was doing the exact same thing—not really logging those payments too closely until about two years ago. For everyone, I just entered that the amount paid matched the amount owed because, frankly, I didn't have the time... but for the last couple of years, I've had to break a sweat just to get these payments recorded properly... I've developed my own little system to calculate payments without losing my mind when the credit card statements are a total mess, so it went a bit smoother this year... though last year, some clients were a complete nightmare...

I mean, what's the point of all this extra effort if you can just hop onto the IRS website and check your tax withholding statement? I ended up doing exactly that just to be sure—and honestly, they usually get it right anyway...

If I haven't been banned or anything—just a heads-up—the IRS website (www.irs.gov) went completely dark overnight. It’s totally offline.

I can't tell if it crashed because all these price hikes are a bad omen, if it's some sort of warning shot to Washington about where things are headed, or if frustrated citizens actually managed to take it down themselves—honestly, who knows? All I know is that when I actually needed to look up a few things to finish my sales tax forms, there was absolutely nothing there!! If this is some kind of DNS or DDoS attack—whatever those hacker circus acts are called nowadays—can we please just get it back up by Monday? But if it crashed simply because their infrastructure is ancient and broken... well, they can just go jump in a lake.

I don't get it either. Honestly, none of this makes sense to me—not even the contribution sections on the W-2 forms... My aunt, who works at an accounting firm, tells me not to lose sleep over it anyway... she says their job is basically just recording what’s already been paid...

THE STATE OF THE IRS AT VEEVA SYSTEMS:

Since yesterday evening, I haven't been able to get onto www.irs.gov.

"Please try reloading: www.irs.gov"

So—here we go AGAIN. Everything is down, totally dead, just gone. We’re sitting here a day before the annual filing deadline, and they’re basically offline. It’s a complete circus out there.

And honestly, I can't help but wonder WHY the online portal even has "operating hours" in the first place? You can access data from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and then until 3:00 PM on Saturdays, and after that—they just shut the computers down. Is it to save electricity? Or because we all magically stop processing data over the weekend??? unknown!! It’s hard to find something this ridiculous unless you realize one thing: bureaucracy is king. No matter how much "digitization" they promise, nothing ever replaces our lovely, entrenched bureaucrats. He gets paid just to turn his computer on and off every single day, which is saying something. In the 21st century.

Don't even sweat it—it looks like the IRS combined the long weekend with their usual downtime, so the website is still completely down!! If you were counting on getting something done today, honestly, you probably shouldn't have—I mean, who is actually foolish enough to assume they'll find reliable info right when they need it on the Treasury Department site?!?

I was down at the IRS office earlier today to drop off some paperwork, and I ended up listening to one accountant vent about how her online filing access got totally cut off because she missed a payment deadline by a hair.

The folks over at Referentica seemed genuinely baffled by the whole situation, though they eventually just settled for filing everything manually on paper...

I honestly can’t make heads or tails of the logic here—they roll out these high-tech digital filing systems, and then immediately lock you out the second there's a hiccup. 🤷

Does the online filing system require a separate fee? Or does that only happen if you use their standalone app? I use my Chase card for all my monthly payments, and I handle everything through the various online portals—IRS, Social Security, Medicare, etc.—all via my Chase account. I’ve been doing this for years for myself and dozens of clients without ever paying extra for these services. Did the rules change recently, or are you guys just talking about using one specific platform exclusively?

Nothing’s actually changed—the IRS website is free. Maybe her access to the site was cut off because she hasn't been paying her basic service fees.
Or maybe she just locked herself out with a wrong password. Or who knows... I had the same issue this morning—the IRS site was down until about 9:00 AM.

It’s honestly such a relief not having to give this any thought until the day after tomorrow. I’m just enjoying 😍
