Fearless? No, it's Disgust, Not Fear, Drives Homophobia
Some psych researchers over at the University of Arkansas dropped a study showing that "homophobia" isn't actually rooted in fear or anxiety—the way a real phobia works—but in a sense of pure disgust.
Matches my own experience when I first saw those crowds parading around. It wasn't fear. It was straight-up disgust.

That feeling of disgust is basically nature’s way of signaling how broken, sick, and damaging those types of relationships are—warning us they shouldn't be legalized or socially accepted. And honestly, nature knows what it's doing. Just look at the health stats regarding homosexuality and sexual behavior.

More than half of all people diagnosed with AIDS are homosexuals. Syphilis, which we thought we’d wiped out decades ago, is knocking on the door again. In the United Kingdom, for instance, syphilis rates among the gay population have spiked over 600% in the last six years. In San Francisco, it's practically an epidemic. One public health facility in San Francisco sees about 75,000 patients annually, and 70-80% of them are from the gay community, with 59% suffering from intestinal parasites. The risk is massive because they pass these things on to the heterosexual population.

Then there’s the usual list of STDs most common in the homosexual population: hepatitis A, B, C, D, gonorrhea, colon cancer, intestinal parasites, typhoid fever, herpes simplex, Chlamydia trachomatis, Shigella, Entamoeba, Giardia lamblia, cytomegalovirus, incontinence, hemorrhoids, and even tearing the rectal lining which often requires emergency surgery. Life expectancy drops to maybe 39-42 due to infectious inflammation, and suicide rates are climbing because of the mental strain caused by all these physical ailments.

The mortality rates suggest that homosexual relationships are more dangerous than nicotine or alcohol. You also see much higher rates of psychological disorders in the gay community—depression, addiction, stress, identity issues, loss of touch with reality, mood swings, narcissism... you name it.

People love to blame an intolerant society for these psychological issues, but that's a myth. The rates of mental disorders are pretty much the same in places where homosexuality has been socially accepted and legalized for ages, like in the Netherlands. Bottom line: the disgust we feel toward homosexuality and its behaviors is a natural defense mechanism meant to prevent the biological and cultural contamination of society. So, pushing back against parades is perfectly logical—even necessary. Like that first link says: Disgust, however, triggers a bi-phasic physiological reaction, with heart rate and respiration initially rising but plummeting shortly thereafter. While fear causes a "get me away from that" reaction, disgust manifests as "get that away from me."

alex jelinić said:Talking about people being freaks when you literally chose the handle "evil-bitch" really doesn't say much about how "normal" you actually are.

Any guy acting gay in public—any kind of physical contact between men, or women with women—is straight-up violence against a normal person. They are being FORCED (read that again: FORCED, which means VIOLENCE) to witness it. Violence isn't just hitting someone; it can be through your eyes, your ears, or touch. It’s disgusting. This violates the mindset of a normal man, wounding his mental state and causing shock, stress, and misery to a person who DOESN'T want to see this, yet these people or the lawmakers are forcing him to look. In short, they are raping him by making him watch!

.

God, you poor thing... you're being raped!!!!!!!
Someone with actual, clearly defined convictions shouldn't be getting this worked up—maybe you should ask yourself if this is just some internal struggle between what you actually want and what you think society expects from you.☕
And as for the usernames, I don't think anyone needs to judge yours, since yours says plenty about you too, but let's not get sidetracked; I'm not going to waste my breath talking in circles.

Personally, I find hooligan groups at American football games quite repulsive. Perhaps we could just pass a law to ban them? That is what nature seems to be suggesting, I guess. Thanks!

What part specifically gets under your skin?

Look—you’ve got fans who actually care about the game and just want to bring the energy to the stadium, then you’ve got the psychos who use a match as an excuse to be aggressive—treating the stands and the city streets like their own personal playground for violence.

If your issue is with the people who show up purely out of love for the team, then honestly, that sounds like a personal problem. Those fans don't hurt anyone or mess with social norms. Nobody complains about them—not here in the States, not anywhere else. On the flip side, you see similar levels of irrational hostility toward the LGBTQ+ community in pretty much every society.

Now, if you're talking about the violent types? Yeah, I get it. But let's be real—no law in this country gives them a free pass to act like thugs.

Go get cured with some cognitive behavioral therapy.
You’re definitely one of those people who gets repulsed by rattlesnakes or other harmless critters just because they don't fit your "aesthetic." If you were stuck in a room with a rattlesnake for five days, you'd eventually make peace with it—just like you would with lesbians or gays.
