I’ve noticed a pattern where some moms tend to mirror the behavior of others, only to completely vanish from the community once certain situations start to unfold.
Isn't it interesting how people can pick up on someone's vibe just through text alone? Whether it's positive or negative, you can really feel it.

I agree—it feels pretty petty. It’s like everyone is trying to form these little cliques.

Well, you can always just skip over them and not read them at all... 😉

There's always going to be stuff like that everywhere, even right here on our favorite forum... 🤷 (especially with pregnant women dealing with all those hormones... 😂)

During my first pregnancy, the constant unsolicited belly touches and everyone asking if it was a boy or a girl drove me absolutely insane. And now? It's happening all over again. God, I hate this...

I totally feel you, ☕ it drives me absolutely nuts too.

It's a relief to hear this 😂, honestly. I spent so much time thinking I was the weird one because those little comments were driving me insane 🙄

I was only a week postpartum... what can I even say? I was getting hammered with a hundred texts and calls a day from people asking, "Is everything okay? Anything you need?" 🙂

But the absolute worst part was the "well-meaning" women coming at me with their horror stories. They’d start rambling about how they lost a baby at seven months, or five months—just total nonsense. Honestly, where is the common sense with some people? It's like they have zero brain cells left when it comes to empathy. 🙂

Honestly, it's just pathetic... 😠

It’s honestly terrifying. At my office, two people are currently on maternity leave, three of us are pregnant, and we’ll all be heading out on leave soon enough...
Out of about 50 employees total,
nobody would ever dare say something like that, even as a joke. I know exactly what some people think about it, but they just stay quiet.
We have very strict standards at this company, and since it's an international firm—think something like Microsoft or Ford—the social policies are actually progressive. If they had a problem with pregnant women, they wouldn't have hired 99% women between the ages of 25 and 30 without kids already.

😕 I don't get it. I haven't noticed anything like that myself? But hey, I guess unfortunately even in a virtual space, people act like that sometimes. 👎

Me neither... maybe I just haven't spent enough time digging through the forums.🤷
I don't get the whole clan thing either—who's with who, how it works, none of it makes sense.

I just finally registered here today, following an absolutely nerve-wracking experience yesterday...
I’m 9 weeks pregnant, and right when my home test turned positive, my social worker was finishing up her last day before vacation. My sister managed to book me an appointment for yesterday—my first chance to see someone after that break. In the meantime, I couldn't sit still, so I went to a private clinic to confirm everything with an FBI ultrasound (both 2D and 4D); they gave me a DVD and everything else was perfectly handled.
Yesterday started off fine enough—they handed me a cup and a urine strip immediately... and then the disaster began.
First, I spent 20 minutes waiting outside the exam room, not because of another patient, but because the doctor was busy chatting with a specialist who was visiting him. When I finally got inside, he actually acted surprised when I told him which week I was in! ???(A) He knows I’m a medical doctor; B) even if I weren't, the internet is full of useful info and pregnancy calendars; C) honestly, I have a standard calendar and, thank God, I know how to count.
Then came the bimanual exam—palpating the uterus with both hands. He squeezed me so hard that I had this awful discomfort lasting until this morning, feeling like my period was about to start at any second (though by 14 or 16 weeks, palpating like that doesn't make much sense since you can really only feel a softer uterus and a firm cervix). Then he says, "Let's do the ultrasound."
My husband was waiting right outside the office, and I politely asked if he could see the baby, but the doctor shot me down instantly. He claimed that for a vaginal scan, nobody gets to watch—not even a husband—and MAYBE he'd allow it once we switch to abdominal scans later on. (Of course, my husband was present for that exact same type of exam back at the private clinic). Fine, I thought, he has the right to set the rules in his own practice. However, the actual placement of the probe was so "pleasant" that I felt like he was shoving it right against my cervix. To make matters worse, he wouldn't turn the monitor toward me. I was terrified, thinking maybe the heart wasn't beating or something. Finally, when he turned the screen, I saw my little one—I saw that tiny flicker that looked like a heartbeat, though the yolk sac looked slightly smaller than it did two weeks ago (by coincidence, I actually tried to study ultrasound mechanics back in med school). Meanwhile, the specialist just sits there in silence. Then, he struggled to take measurements—he spent 20 minutes fumbling with the probe while searching for cursors and trying to figure out how to connect them. When he finally managed it, he told me the size matched 8 weeks instead of 9. Luckily, I know things are relatively fluid in the first trimester, so a 3mm difference isn't worth pulling my hair out over. Well, not mine—I wanted to pluck his like a crazed hen!
He eventually handed over the requisitions for bloodwork, urine tests, and my blood type and sent me to the nurse. She took my blood pressure and weighed me, but only after I insisted. That urine sample from earlier? Nobody cared about it. And I didn't even get a printout or photo from the ultrasound!
I was so livid that it wasn't until I was going to bed last night that I realized he forgot to validate one of my referrals, and more importantly, I DIDN'T GET MY MATERNITY HANDBOOK!!!???
I remember reading on one of the threads here that this particular doctor isn't highly regarded, but in my previous routine check-ups, he had always been extremely polite and professional.

I feel the same way.

Personally, I tend to steer clear of certain pregnant women here. I'd rather just avoid them entirely instead of getting into it, because I don't want to stress myself or my baby out—even if their posts get under my skin, even when they aren't even about me. Honestly, they just spread negative energy.

On the flip side, there are others where my heart actually jumps when they post or just show up, almost like we know each other in real life or have been friends for years.

Then there are those who are totally awesome, but I guess I'm just not their type...😬 meaning they don't really "get" me at all.
And that's annoying too. 😛
(The last part was a joke)

Man, he really put you through it. You can always request a new social worker whenever you want; you don't have to wait for the end of the year.

Honestly, today is one of those days where I just want to go zero to sixty and strangle someone with my bare hands 😠😠
It’s like everyone is getting on my last nerve, to the point where I just want to disappear into the woods far away from society. Like, how can people be so incredibly insensitive to pregnant women? They act like it's totally fine that my hormones are absolutely wrecking me, or that I'm constantly worrying about everything. They think it's okay that my lab results are a complete mess, or that my OBGYN just showed up at the clinic without any warning and caused me all this unnecessary stress... 👎
And then everyone just serves me their daily pile of crap to deal with, acting like because I *can* handle it, I should. As if I feel great! What is wrong with people? It's like they only care about themselves. "Oh, you can just handle that task," or "Just send me a DM." Seriously?
I mean, I've always been a bit talkative, but right now? I have zero filter. I am just telling it exactly like it is, no sugarcoating allowed. If people want to get offended, let them. Everyone else's little feelings shouldn't matter more than mine and my baby's 🙂
Ugh, sorry guys, I just needed to vent for a second...

Whatever, go ahead, we're here to listen. If you're seeing that social worker OBGYN, couldn't you just try catching a different shift?

It honestly irritates me when people feel the need to lecture me on how I’m supposed to just forget my own life, my freedom, and everything else I love once I have a baby... It’s as if they think having a child means you should just go ahead and bury yourself alive. 😠

And I can't stand being bombarded with all this nonsense about childbirth risks and medical complications. I really don't understand the impulse some people have... to approach an expectant mother and start detailing horror stories about women dying in labor, or babies born with illnesses and such. It is truly, deeply awful... 😠😢😲

So, look, I’m actually seeing this private doctor for my pregnancy and she’s honestly amazing, but she told me I should go get my bloodwork done at my regular clinic's lab instead, so I went there and did all five tests.
Then my regular doctor tells me to swing by next week to pick up the results, right? So I call them like a total idiot and nobody answers... I finally drive all the way up there and she’s out on lunch or something, nowhere to be found, and there isn't even a single little note left for me. Some other nurse is covering her clinic, but she doesn't have my files at all! 😠😠
And then I had to go down to the Public Health Department... just to beg for a transcript of my results, pay a fee, wait in some massive line, and deal with all that nonsense... all while my regular doctor is just gonna hear about it when she gets back. It is seriously driving me insane... I mean, that's basically why I switched to a private doctor in the first place, because I just can't deal with this headache while I'm pregnant... but man, she really had to deal me one last blow, didn't she? 🤣

Tell me about it. I am constantly getting hit with these unsolicited "expert" opinions and people trying to act like they know better than me.
Most of the time, this "you'll lose your identity" talk comes from these old-fashioned ladies who clearly don't have anything better to do with their lives. Like, when I mention I’m planning to finish my Master’s degree, they act totally shocked—like, "Oh my god, what are you thinking? Your poor child will suffer!" It’s ridiculous. I don't even bother explaining that my husband and I actually talked this through, and we decided it makes way more sense to knock out my studies now while I'm already in student mode, and while the baby is still tiny and just eating and sleeping. It's much better than trying to do it later when the kid is older and every time I leave the house, it turns into a huge traumatic ordeal.

Yeah, I get hit with that same guilt trip too... since I'm still finishing up my degree. But honestly? I'm convinced you can balance it all if you actually stay organized and have a partner who's got your back. Thankfully, I have 😁, and I truly don't believe my kid will suffer just because I occasionally have to head off to an exam at ☕

A friend of mine really got under my skin yesterday. She was all worked up, excitedly recounting her little two-day spree—partying, drinking, staying out late, swimming in the middle of the night... just total chaos. It was one of those "you have no idea how much fun I had!" monologues. You know exactly that specific tone people use when they want to imply, "I'm having a blast while you're stuck being boring because you're pregnant and can't join in." 🤣

My husband is driving me absolutely insane because he’s being a total couch potato 😂..haha..Look, normally he’s a huge help—he cleans up, stays on top of things, the whole nine yards. But now that he’s on vacation, all I want to do is get out of the house... and he just lies there...(And honestly, I know he still does a massive amount to help me out...)
But still, I can't help thinking that instead of just sitting around, he could actually join me for a bit. A quick trip downtown, a hike in the park, hitting up Target or the local farmers market... something.

Instead, he’s just glued to the TV, watching the most brainless garbage imaginable.

I'm right there with you on all of this. If one more person tells me "say goodbye to sleep" or "get ready for constant crying," I might actually scream. As if I don't realize kids cry, or like my life is suddenly over. It isn't; it's actually just beginning with this little person who will let me experience childhood all over again. Honestly, I haven't slept much in five months because I have a hyperactive toddler who won't stop rolling around, and I don't mind it. As my due date gets closer, they told me the baby is sitting quite low and I need to take it easy. So, instead of walking around town, I'm staying home in bed more often because I don't want the baby to arrive too early. Everyone is just so full of "expert" advice... man, I'm going to lose it. I can't wait to see what other brilliant tips they throw at me after the birth... sorry, I needed to vent a little. 🙂

I honestly think those comments come from women who are just deeply frustrated with themselves and their own life choices... It’s perfectly normal for your life to change, but losing everything you've built? Not happening on my watch 🙄

Based on what these ladies are saying, you should probably be locked away at home from the moment you're born, focusing solely on the house and the kids... and then once the kids grow up and leave, you lose all sense of purpose and just spend the rest of your days being bitter toward yourself and everyone else 🙄

Does anyone else find these women's stories incredibly grating? I heard enough of them while I was pregnant 🤣to make me believe it was all true—that I'd somehow ruined my poor child's future before they were even born 😂 😂
