Well, they changed things—now if you go into the settings of the current app, there’s an option to transfer your mobile banking to a new device, and that's how you get your new installation code.

So, I was just thinking—what happens if someone actually has to go through the whole hassle of doing a factory reset and reinstalling everything from scratch?

Has anyone else run into an "internal service error" when trying to log into my bank app, even though everything is supposedly set up and active?

A couple of days ago, I accidentally deleted my banking app. Naturally, I just grabbed it again from the App Store, reinstalled it, and headed down to my local Chase branch to get it activated. That’s where the headache started. I’ve tried activating it three separate times now—I've double-checked my ID and activation keys, made sure the PIN matches perfectly—but nothing works. Honestly, I'm starting to lose my patience.

The woman at the bank suggested it might be an issue with my phone, but that doesn't make much sense to me. I've had this device since October and I had zero issues using the app on my previous phone after transferring all my data over. She also mentioned it could be a carrier issue, but I've been with Comcast/T-Mobile for nearly eight years without any drama. Restarting the phone didn't do a thing, and I really don't feel like going through the whole nightmare of a factory reset right now.

I sent a quick email to customer support to see if they could help, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

They finally rolled out that dual pricing feature—I actually got the notification—but even after I went in and updated my settings, it’s still just showing me USD.

It says exactly where and what was doubled up. That's it.

You can see them if you dig into the specific account details, but they aren't showing up on the main overview page

The thing is, I’m looking at my old Wells Fargo app right now and I can’t find any setting to move my Chase account over to a new phone. It used to be a lot easier—back when Chase was just getting its footing, I actually kept my Wells Fargo token active just to manage the transition. That was ages ago, though, back when the Chase app was practically in beta.

Just head into your phone settings; you'll find that option right there. 😉

Everything has transitioned over to the Euro adoption act, but I’m not seeing any prices listed in dollars. For instance, it shows my spending or incoming transfers in euros along with the balance for each item—but the USD amount is just missing. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Under the current laws, they aren't even required to show the breakdown... just the total balance, the overdraft limit, and stuff like that.

Do you have a source for that? In my line of work—we build e-commerce sites—every single item where a price is listed had to be updated to show an additional conversion to USD just to stay compliant.

I might not have voiced this sooner—but honestly, why on earth are we being hit with individual fees for every single wire transfer, every paid bill, and whatnot? We're talking 0.30 cents, 0.17 cents, and so on... just constant little nibbles at the balance. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

The argument is always that banks need those margins to cover the cost of maintaining expensive hardware and software licenses. That’s the official line, anyway...

The Euro adoption act for the United States, Section 46:

(1) Credit institutions, credit unions, payment institutions, electronic money institutions, and other creditors under consumer credit regulations are required during the dual-display period specified in Article 43, Paragraph 1 of this Act, to provide essential information in both currencies for any consumers using their services.

(2) For the purposes of Paragraph 1, the following prices and monetary value statements are considered essential information:

– fee schedules

– for transaction account statements for accounts that were held in the previous currency prior to the Euro adoption: the opening and closing balances, plus any overdraft amounts

– when providing online or mobile banking services for transaction accounts that were held in the previous currency prior to the Euro adoption: the account balance and overdraft amount or available balance must be shown on at least one menu or screen within the account view

– at ATMs during cash withdrawals for predefined amounts shown on the screen, as well as the account balance upon inquiry if displayed on the screen or receipt, provided the cash is being withdrawn by the account holder/owner of the ATM

– for consumer credit agreements issued or offered in the previous currency before the Euro adoption date: the total loan amount and the installment or annuity amount in the repayment schedule as listed in the European standardized information form (ESIS) or any other prescribed document used to provide consumer info before a loan agreement is finalized

– for annual credit status notices regarding loans in the previous currency: the amount of overdue debt and any past-due unpaid debt

– for annual deposit status notices regarding deposits in the previous currency: the current deposit balance.

It doesn't say anything about individual line items.

Seriously, how much of an uphill battle is it to implement push notifications for incoming payments? I honestly can’t wrap my head around why this hasn't been a thing yet. It feels like such a massive oversight in today's tech landscape.

I actually made that exact same suggestion in the Google Play Store comments about five years ago. Haha.

How am I supposed to transfer my security token to a new phone if my old one is completely dead? Is there an online way to handle this, or am I stuck driving down to a Chase branch...
Who can I even contact about getting a new digital ID key without having to show up in person at the bank?
Thanks in advance.

Once you're on the initial login screen, just tap the settings gear icon in the top right corner, then select the option to transfer your data to a new device

Should I be trying this on my old device? That phone is completely dead, so I can't even get into my email...
When I download the app on my new phone and try to log in, it asks for an identification key, but that's all it says in the top right corner of the prompt. It's asking if I need the key or a scan, but there's nothing left to scan since my old phone is useless...

Yeah, on the old device.
If you’ve got your token and can actually log into your Chase account, you should be able to get it activated right through their portal.
I’m honestly not sure if they still bother calling it "customer service" or if they just call it support now, but you might be able to sort it out over the phone. Your best bet is probably jumping onto the Chase live chat and asking them directly.
