Zaba fan possibilities

$20 This monthly Zaba flyer is quite dynamic. I ended up with it by necessity when I was securing my mortgage, but I have to admit, I’m actually happy with it. I handle all my bill payments through online banking for free, and honestly... I’ve completely overlooked most of the other perks. I really should start taking advantage of some of them; thanks for the reminder 👍

So, that’s how it plays out. James Jackson9, I get where you're coming from—as long as you squeezed every bit of value out of that Zaba flyer, you're fine.
My situation is a different beast entirely. My company covers most of the costs, so I'm only left paying $3.00 per month—meaning moving forward, it'll be $6.00 ($3.00 for the current one, plus maybe $5 or so for the checking account, so $3.00 total).
I don't have to take the buyout option right now, but I have a feeling that in a year or two, JPMorgan Chase will just hike their fees and force my hand again... lord help me.

And one more thing for those who actually care—there are no fees or membership costs for my money market accounts (I'm running five of them through my main account)

Mastercard? What does that even mean? Anyway, of course, everything had to go wrong today—and naturally, on a Sunday, too. A pipe burst, and we had to call an emergency plumber immediately. Since banks are closed today, how does the process work? How am I supposed to file for a reimbursement on this repair? Has anyone here dealt with this before?

The bank isn't involved in the initial call. If your damage is covered under the Zaba fan, you just call the toll-free number. They send a technician out, and then they handle the coordination with the bank from there.

Great, thanks for the info. 👍

Just so we're clear, HKA's membership isn't $67 monthly, it's an annual thing.

Aha, haha okay. I have one too, but I don't actually use it. :P

So what’s the catch then? You've got a Mastercard sitting there gathering dust, you aren't even using it, yet you're still coughing up an annual fee? Feels a little bit like masochism to me.

Heh, true. As I mentioned before, I was essentially forced to get it to secure the loan I took out from Chase. Just because I haven't needed the Mastercard yet doesn't mean I won't down the road. I really need to do more research on what else they offer.

You don't have much choice but to run your own little mini Fed, paying others for services just to cover a couple of bucks, especially those health insurance premiums.
In my case, having a bank account with this Zaba fan shouldn't cost more than $10 a month.

Look, banks don't actually require you to take out specific bundles or credit cards just to qualify for a loan. It’s not in the contract, so let’s not be naive. Employees often use high-pressure tactics just to pad their sales numbers. Besides, you can always cancel any extra perks or cards later on.
That said, a Zaba fan bundle includes a lot of useful services, and I'd actually recommend one to anyone using a credit card. If you aren't sure if it's worth the cost, just look closely at the actual benefits. For instance, when my car broke down, they provided free towing 34 miles to the mechanic—all covered under my bundle. I also have a friend who was skiing in Austria and ended up breaking his ribs; his medical bills hit $2,500, but he didn't pay a cent because he used the travel insurance included in his package.

It's true that they don't technically make it a requirement, but having a specific Zaba fan can actually get you a certain percentage discount on the loan processing fees. That can turn into a pretty decent chunk of change saved... and you're right, you can always cancel it afterward, or just swap it for something else. You just do that after the loan has already been approved. 😉

The discount on processing fees for cash loans previously offered by the Zaba fan has been discontinued 👎 while there are currently no fees applied to mortgage loans 👍

They really insisted that I had to get it. Honestly, if this one managed to outsmart me, it’s unbelievable what some officials will use to pressure you—claiming I absolutely needed life insurance and blah, blah, blah. But looking at it now, I actually feel okay about having it, so it wasn't a total waste. Could you clarify exactly how the process works? If your car breaks down, do you just call a standard towing service and pay out of pocket, only for the bank to reimburse you later? I'm not entirely sure since I haven't actually had to use it yet.

ahaaa, it’s entirely possible I picked it up just for that reason; who can really remember? 🙄

No. You call the toll-free number provided by the bank, and they handle the towing arrangements for you.
