Just give them your account number and they'll head your way.

Many thanks. 🙂

Not sure if anyone else caught this, but I noticed Zaba is offering a student package right now. Apparently, they’ll let you overdraw your current account by up to $10 $0.00 provided you have regular deposits coming in.

By "regular deposits," does that strictly mean a standard W-2 employment contract, or would income from a student work-study job count too?

@edit

Also, I’ve got that basic Maestro debit card. Can I actually rack up any points or qualify for discounts with that thing down the line?

I need some advice. It seems my situation isn't unique, but I’m certainly feeling the sting in my wallet right now. 😠
Basically, my banker practically coerced me into signing up for this premium account tier—or whatever they call it—without ever mentioning it would come with a monthly fee $20.
They framed it as, "Just stop by to pick up your new debit card; there’s no charge for this." Why on earth would I opt into something I don't need? But apparently, if you're looking at credit options, everything is bundled together... I won't bore you with the details. Anyway, I just checked my balance online and saw they already docked me $20. I feel like a fool. What am I even paying for? I never carry a balance, and I have absolutely no use for these "perks." 👎
My question is simple: can I cancel this service, or am I stuck being fleeced for $20 indefinitely? 😲
Any help would be appreciated! 🙄

P.S. If I decide to terminate my contract early, can I still keep the overdraft facility? If so, what are the fees involved, and is it possible to settle the balance via online banking? I haven’t tried using that feature before.
Could someone with some actual experience walk me through this? 🙏

You can cancel your premium banking package by just heading down to the branch where you opened it and telling them you want to close it. That online banking service runs about $3.25 a month, and paying bills costs $0.33—that’s 2 (🤔). If I were in your shoes, I’d ask the teller to run the numbers on your monthly fees without the premium package—just to see which way is actually cheaper. I know they bumped up the prices on standard checking accounts lately; if you’re also juggling a credit card and paying bills online, that premium package might actually end up being more cost-effective than basic accounts. Go talk to her so she can check 😉

I’ve been using the same basic debit card for the last seven years of my working life, and I used to receive monthly paper statements from the bank, which cost me $0.83 per month.
Now, I’ve been hit with this "all-in-one" bundle and a security token. Honestly, if it weren't for the token, I wouldn't have even noticed they snatched those extra $20 from my account.👎

I’ve never actually used online banking to pay bills before.☕

I'm wondering if canceling this bundled package would also mean losing the security token. Also, if I were to start paying my bills online, I assume there would be some sort of transaction fee involved.
All things considered, paying $20 every month feels excessive, especially since I don't truly need any of these "perks."

😕

I believe your current setup is $3.00 (though I’m using a digital banking assistant, so take my word with a grain of salt)—the monthly token sits at $3.25, and your per-transaction fee is $0.33, which is basically 2 bucks. Personally, I use a modern banking app—my monthly fee is just $6.75—and it covers my checking, savings, and specialized accounts, plus I can pay up to five bills a month through the app for free. If you're planning on sticking with Zaba 🤷
it might actually be worth the switch.

In any case, $20 it feels like far too much to pay for something that might only happen in a worst-case scenario. 👎
I need to cancel this as soon as possible and just keep the token, nothing else. ☕

If you're dead set on keeping your digital banking, you might as well just hire a pro for $6.75 a month, pretty much like what Steven Reed suggested...

Quick question—does anyone happen to know what the daily cash withdrawal limit is for a student debit card? 😁

I don't think there's a specific limit; it's the same for ATMs too - $1.75

plus, it says so right in the statement.

My bank just called me out of the blue to pitch this "1 for all" option. I guess they think they're doing me a favor, but does anyone actually use this stuff? I'm wondering if there's any real benefit to it or if it's just more noise. Right now, I'm paying $20 every month.

I used to have one—now I just rely on a digital banking assistant. Honestly, whether it’s worth the hassle depends entirely on which credit cards and bank accounts you're running; nobody can tell you if it's a good deal without knowing your specific setup.🤷

If you’re carrying a balance and actually use online banking, it’s worth the hassle...

Let me revive this thread for a moment...

Is it actually possible to have an overdraft limit in Chase that’s three times your monthly income? I currently hold their Gold tier account ($30 per month) and, as of right now, my allowed overdraft is only double what I bring in...

Yeah, it’s doable. If you don't get the green light through the app, you can just head into a local branch—like a Chase or Bank of America—and they can handle it for you. Just keep in mind that the maximum amount depends on a few things—your specific account tier, credit score, and all that good stuff.

So, I’ve still got my student checking account, even though I haven't been in school for over a year now. A few times at Chase, they've asked if I wanted to switch to a standard account, and every single time I just end up grabbing a handful of flyers like I actually need to go home and deliberate on which banking package fits my soul better. Recently, a friend of mine who works over at Wells Fargo told me I should probably just head in and fix it, because apparently, they can actually freeze your account just to force your hand on the matter. Is that for real? Can they actually pull a move like that?

Of course they can—it’s pretty straightforward logic, really. Once you lose your student status, you lose access to all those specific perks (think discounted bus passes, cheaper high-speed internet, etc.), and that applies to your banking too.

Your best bet is probably a basic checking account; it's usually the cheapest way to go. 🙂

Best,

NO, they absolutely cannot freeze an account just for that reason. Honestly, I don't understand where people get this nonsense from.

They might eventually remove someone from the Zaba fan program, and even then, only if they notice a regular paycheck hitting the account. How is a bank supposed to know someone isn't a student anymore?
