The Go Card functions as a credit card.
If you're using a dynamic one, you won't be hit with ECMC or Go fees—it's basically a wash. 😉

If you don't mind, where did you see that? 🙂 I can't find anything online about which fan it's included in...👎

Just head down to any local branch and ask them for the brochures covering the dynamic, classic, and flexible options—each one is laid out clearly.
Personally, I lean toward the dynamic one because of the M-Zaba fan. 😍

Thanks! I hit up the bank yesterday and set up a dynamic fan account—now both of my cards are feeding right into it! 😁

I have no idea what you people are talking about. The service I’ve been paying for $6.75 (Optimum All-in-One) now costs barely anything more $18 at a Chase fan!?!!?

Everything stays the same, except for those 15 free transactions (a savings of 7-$$3.25) via online banking.

Fact one: moving business online REDUCES the number of jobs a bank actually needs, yet they have the audacity to pitch it to us as a paid premium service.

Fact two: the website www.chase.com is embarrassingly bad, neglected, and ancient—we're talking a design that hasn't seen an update since the early 2000s.

Fact three: following on from fact two—there isn't even any information regarding the Fan on their site. It's a total disaster!!
(At least it wasn't there yesterday, so if anyone is reading this later, maybe it'll finally show up 👎 )

Their whole scheme is to trick everyone into grabbing this mid-tier fan for $20, because it feels like just $1.75 more. And yeah, it is absolutely shameful that their website doesn't even mention these fan tiers. Truly!!!!👎

Michelle Chase3 said:We actually used Chase's roadside assistance this summer and it was a lifesaver. They handled everything fast and professionally. But looking at these premium bundles now, the costs are even higher than what I was paying before! 👍

I'm also taking out a loan in a few months, and since this premium tier offers a discount on loan origination fees, I've decided the whole package is worth it. One thing I'm stuck on, though—this card stuff you mentioned. I have a standard Mastercard and a Gold card. Which procedure applies to which? The Chase brochure says you get one basic deferred payment card and one basic credit card without an enrollment fee. So my Mastercard is covered, but where does the Gold card fit in?🤷

How does this actually work in the real world?
Does the bank just reimburse the costs or what?

You just give CARE (I think that's how you spell it) a call when your car breaks down on the highway or if your key snaps right off in the ignition... they dispatch a mechanic to get you sorted out... and that’s really all there is to it...
Honestly, I couldn't care less about the nitty-gritty details of who reimburses whom or how the paperwork flows... all I know is that the service actually works...
If the repair ends up costing more than what's covered under your specific plan, I'm not entirely sure how they handle it (though I assume they'll send you an invoice 🤷)... from what I gather, if you can't get a hold of them and have to pay out of pocket, you just settle the bill yourself and then CARE reimburses you later.

No. Our engine died on the interstate just fifteen minutes after we left Seattle heading toward Washington, D.C. We called their number, and the guy goes through all the questions about the vehicle—asks if you think it can be fixed right there or if you need a tow. We needed a tow and ended up waiting about an hour. The driver came out from Seattle, loaded our engine onto the trailer, and hauled us all the way to Washington, D.C. Since we had coverage for about $200 in towing (don't quote me on that, I don't remember the exact amount), it would have covered that distance perfectly on a weekday and cost us nothing. But this was a Sunday, so there’s a 30% surcharge. We had to hand the driver an extra $233 on the spot, and that was that.
It seriously saved our necks!

Alright, thanks, I get the logic now.

But... we're talking roughly $220 for a tow on a weekday, going from Providence to NYC?
I’ve never actually had to call a tow truck in my life, but I always assumed those rates would be way higher than $220 for a trip like that...
Either way, saving $220 when you're stuck on the side of the road definitely helps.

Wait, you're telling me managing this checking account only costs $6.75 per year instead of monthly? And isn't the Mastercard fee $100 annually? If what Kimberly Nguyen said is true, I might be heading down to Chase soon to see about installment plans for my Zaba fan. That would be an absolute robbery. I was under the impression the monthly fee was around $6.75.

The whole thing comes down to paying right there on the scene or... I mean, what happens if the bill ends up being higher than expected or you just don't have the funds on hand? Personally, I almost never carry cash around with me.

The checking fee is just $6.75 per year, and the ECMC is $50 annually... but that's only for the bare-bones users

But look, once you start adding authorized users, then you need a foreign currency account... then there's the online banking fees, the statement fees, the extra credit cards, and all that other junk. It adds up to a massive pile of money pretty quickly.

Look, we didn't have any money on us either (we were coming straight from the beach, obviously!😁). Once we hit New York City, we grabbed coffee with the driver—he was actually a pretty nice guy—and then I just hit an ATM to grab some small bills.

All I know is the guy showed up in that Mercedes Vito, and we cruised into New York City like royalty. But when a friend of mine dealt with the exact same thing and Haka had to pick them up, he and his girlfriend were practically squeezed onto the passenger seat of that little truck, barely fitting all their gear...

I just wanted to ask a quick question... does anyone here know anything about the student overdraft options at Zaba fan? I was browsing their website and saw they mention approving a negative balance on checking accounts, but I haven't been able to find any actual details anywhere... so if anyone happens to know the specifics...😉

The student fan account is actually a pretty sweet deal. I’ve been using it for about 5 months now and it's solid. I’m only shelling out $1.75 a month, and I get full access to all the digital banking stuff along with my checking and savings accounts.
Regarding overdrafts, man, that's where things get messy... if you don't have a steady monthly paycheck coming in, they aren't going to help you out. The only way they'll approve an overdraft is if you've had regular deposits hitting that student account every single month for at least three months straight. Otherwise, they just shut you down.

Thanks for the reply 😉
I've already had regular deposits going into my account through SC for two years now, yet when I asked them about an overdraft about 5 or 6 months ago, they told me no. I just checked their website regarding this flyer's features and it looks like I might be eligible for an authorized overdraft, but it doesn't explain the "how" or "what" behind it. If anyone happens to know more, please let me know 😉

Look, if you want to skip the hassle, just set up your direct deposit to go straight from your SC account into your checking. If you do that, they’ll automatically approve an overdraft limit for you—it happens almost immediately, usually right after that first paycheck hits. But if you try to do it manually—which they’re gonna make you do if your money isn't landing directly in your checking account—they're definitely going to hit you with fees. Going the automatic route is totally free.

Btw, when you grab that Student flyer, you get access to the mobile banking app too. And honestly? It’s killer. You can handle pretty much everything right from your phone.

But the issue is that payments from student services can only be sent via a checking account! That's exactly where the snag is.
Also, what does "manual approval" actually entail?🤷
