The kid... after reading all that, I'm thinking about this:

...you'll get through this period, little guy... having a "perfect" mom under "support"... listen, I believe it's "heavenly"... because with a vibe like that, the kid is "blessed" too... but honestly, I'm more worried about the withdrawal period (you have to protect that little one... because there's no heaven there) and then that stretch leading up to the "golden era"... the kid grows up seeing "shooting"... so it becomes normal for him... there's a huge chance he'll try it... and an even bigger chance he'll keep going (he's even got indirect support)... and you've worked so hard to make sure he has everything... will you be able to survive this...

...but then again, if he never even gets a shot at living before passing away early... what kind of life would that even be? Just pain... pure pain... and there’s something else too... the shame of letting your parents down... if you end up in this spot because of your situation... I’m positive you won't be able to live with that. Right now, he is your entire world... and that’s exactly what gives you the grit to face your flaws and all that suppressed agony...

Despite everything you're going through... I can tell you have STRENGTH... because not every "addict" mom acts the way you do. To me, it sounds like you're just a traveler who lost their way... and honestly? It's time to find a compass (life has a funny way of handing them to you when you least expect it...!) and just start moving, even if you're crawling... because that's how those first "giant leaps" actually begin...

You aren't meant for a life like this... I know that for a fact!
Come on, lady... make that kid proud! 😘

We have finally reached the heart of the matter >> creating and shaping a society >> so that a child isn't ashamed of having a parent with an addiction, and an addict isn't ashamed of their struggle, just as a person in a wheelchair shouldn't be ashamed of their physical disability..

Now, does anyone have the guts and integrity to argue that such a hypothetical, less intolerant society wouldn't be better than the one we live in today?

Am I hearing you right, "violent" and unadjusted with a disgusting persona..?

I'll be driven by my cravings for drugs, while you all chase a new Mercedes-Benz or a massive plasma CNN.

What's the damn difference?

The difference is pretty simple: you aren't going to catch Hepatitis C or cirrhosis from a Mercedes-Benz or a flat-screen... nor are you likely to end up dead with your head stuck in a toilet bowl because of them..

The truth is, increasing tolerance just opens the door for more dependencies. We already have enough people struggling with addiction as it is.

Enjoy your little journey......🤣
The real difference—the one you seem to miss—is that I’m actually going to enjoy my Mercedes-Benz and my big-screen CNN in peace and good health, while you'll already be six feet under!

Goodbye, and just get lost already!

George Ramirez11 said:I’m honestly not even sure who I should start quoting first... the one who prioritizes a predator over someone struggling with addiction, or the healthcare worker who clearly couldn't care less—because apparently, addiction isn't a disease, it's just some mindless, shapeless mass of people having a blast... or maybe it's the same person? I've stopped paying attention. I don't know why only 1% of people bother to step up when it's actually this simple. And what would be the point of me confessing? I just wanted to get it out there. It's pretty clear that nobody here (with the exception of those few who actually tried to offer something useful) can help me. I'll admit, I probably titled the thread wrong.
Nobody needs to worry about my child, let alone you guys. I feel my own pain plenty well enough, and my kid is this constant little angel whose pain I feel down to my very soul if they so much as scrape an elbow. God knows what other kind of pain exists.
Do you really think you have it all figured out just because you spend your days handing out tips to junkies? I'm not even going to go there.
I’m not looking for excuses, mostly because I haven't lost my mind—I see zero reason to justify myself to anyone HERE. I don't know why I would. Just because rehab isn't for everyone doesn't mean it's a magic fix; I was told that myself at a rehabilitation center, and I see crowds of people every single day who head straight back to their old habits the moment they walk out the doors. Most of the things you call "excuses" actually end in a question mark, if you'd bother to notice. At the end of the day, it comes down to willpower, and there's really no debate there.
Stay healthy, and I truly DON'T want any of you to see an addict when you look at your own children, because NO ONE is immune to darkness. But I DO want you to learn to think differently, even if it hurts or makes you miserable while your perspective shifts.
I never forced my opinion on anyone. I came here looking for support, and instead, I got pelted with stones. People called me an idiot who refuses to get clean, said I should have my child taken away, wished that my son would look at me with disgust, or hoped I’d drop dead within a year... I'm sorry I even sought you out. You really think you're the first ones to try using insults and aggression?
My only consolation is knowing that you either have no clue what you're talking about or you simply aren't thinking. You certainly don't know anything about me.
Go ahead, keep arguing and feeding each other's stubbornness and stupidity. I'm going to move on and look for help within myself and from people who actually give a damn.
Shame on you. Now you can go back to spitting on the depressed, the anxious, and the potentially suicidal... because I guess they're just more "idiots" who refuse help, right?
P.S. Again, thanks to the exceptions who offered supportive words, links, etc. That’s really all I was looking for. I've cried enough in my life that I'm not going to let some internet posts break me.

I don't know what to say to you, dear teenah...
But I just remembered that famous verse: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do"...

My gut tells me that your prejudice won't last much longer—actually, not much longer at all—because people are starting to realize the truth. For some, it's a slow process; for others, it happens fast.
Most people fall into the slow category. Since they are the majority, their opinions tend to carry more weight.
So, the slightly sharper minds are "condemned" by this injustice, and all that remains is for them to fight against it.
To fight in every way possible, even if it costs them their lives.

Evil, intolerance, and stupidity are things that slowly fade away. Let that be your light in the dark, because it certainly is mine.

Keep loving your little angel. Keep pushing forward, just like everyone else. Don't give up... Protect Him! 😘

Everything you're talking about is purely theoretical!
And let's be clear: society is shaped by the majority, not some fringe group!
Plus, this tiny minority you claim to represent? They have a choice!

If you want honest answers, then the questioner needs to act with honor, whether they have any sense left or not!

When you post a thread like this on a forum, you should expect people to give you their honest thoughts—and yeah, you probably won't like some of them. I don't see why anyone should be ashamed or hide anything.

Don't get mad, but it's hard to expect the majority to back you up given the situation. That's not about being closed-minded or stupid; it's just common sense and logic. And it's not personal—nobody knows you here, so people are just reacting to what you wrote. A kid can't have a mother who's using, no matter how well she manages her daily responsibilities. Those are just facts.

Anyhow, it's a huge deal that you're actually aware you have a problem and are trying to fix it.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope you do what's best for you and your little angel!!😘
GOOD LUCK!!🙂

Exactly!
As for everything else that triggered these reactions—just thank the hypocrite who took your sincere plea for help and used it as a platform to spout his twisted views!
He even has the nerve to throw Christ's teachings into his own nonsense!

This is truly revolting; I’m reading this and honestly can't believe my eyes... the logic follows that we should just purge all the homosexuals, the addicts, and the lunatics... I genuinely cannot fathom it—you have the audacity to call others "parasites of society" when you are clearly the one acting as a drain on it if anyone else thinks like you do. Veronica, I have just one question: where on earth do you think you get the right to act this way?

My advice? Go check out http://www.samhsa.gov (addiction support resources) and their forums. You'll find plenty of people there with actual lived experience who might actually be able to help you. Around here, all you get is the preaching from small-minded busybodies who haven't a clue what they're talking about, yet are more than happy to sit in judgment.

It makes me wonder, though—what percentage of these idiots would charge addicts double for their meds? And would they dare charge their own smoking buddies double for lung cancer treatments? Or would they force them to sign waivers so the government can just let them suffer away once they've "voluntarily" chosen to smoke?

To me, it looks like a classic case of frustrated, insecure losers who are just itching for an opportunity to look down on someone they deem "lesser" to feel important for a second. They probably occupy the bottom rung of the social ladder in their actual lives—so wouldn't it make sense that they jump at the chance to belittle an addict or anyone else, just to feel a momentary sense of superiority? 😁

The same place you get the right to insult others...
But before you go charging in blindly, do us all a favor and actually read the entire thread first!

Oh, come on, JPK, let’s be real here. It’s perfectly fine to offer advice, but as someone who has personally dealt with drug issues—not through addiction itself, but through being very close to a former addict—I feel I should be able to weigh in on this without everyone labeling me a moralist or some small-minded critic. 🙄
I’m not entirely sure who you were directing that comment toward, but it felt a bit misplaced. Most people in this thread have genuinely tried to help (even if they perhaps shouldn't have 😕), and if you haven't noticed, quite a few of them have had some kind of connection to drugs at one point or another.

I remember vividly how I used to insist that I could function perfectly normally while I was using; I would lie, cheat, and manipulate everyone, most of all myself, constantly coming up with justifications for my actions. In reality, though, I was just tearing down my own life and everyone else's too, which is something both the original poster and 99 Luftballons seem to stubbornly refuse to grasp. It isn't just about "them"—the impact ripples out to everyone.

The same logic applies to you as it does to hiddentrucker16.
In your own post, you’re playing the role of the high-and-mighty judge—labeling others as "losers" and forcing your personal condemnation onto them.
You're passing judgment without even having read all the posts, which means you're judging by the exact same criteria you use to insult those you claim are at the bottom of the "social hierarchy"!
So, tell me—just how low are you actually?

ha, ha, you actually made me laugh😁 👍—well, that certainly lightens the mood. Honestly, when you read what Chris Peterson53 wrote, it makes my stomach turn. The title alone is basically a plea for mercy... so please, man, have a little decency. It's just revolting and frankly quite pathetic.

Comments like these come from people who haven't even bothered to read ALL the posts. If they actually did—assuming they're capable of comprehension—they'd realize this is really about two people: one seeking help and outside perspectives, and another who took advantage of that situation to force their opinion through—whether bluntly or indirectly (while throwing in some pretty heavy insults, even along ethnic lines).
They can't handle being disagreed with through actual argument, so instead, they just glorify their own viewpoint and defend addiction—an addiction that has caused devastating consequences for addicts, society at large, and their families.
These kinds of armchair critics and dismissive skeptics immediately start conflating this with every other social issue or group that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. Why? Because they don't actually know what they're talking about!

Honestly, it doesn't even matter whether I've read every single post or not—I've been lurking here for quite a while anyway—but your little rant about worms and parasites is completely uncalled for.
