I mean, if you actually became mayor or whatever...
or if you just somehow became super powerful and could call all the shots, I don't know... honestly, I'm not even sure what I'd change about Chicago besides, well, everything... maybe I'd try to rewire the collective consciousness or tackle those unwritten social rules that keep us from being truly free... you know how it is, like what Noah Sanchez7 is getting at, where everyone just gives each other these fake little smiles just to keep up appearances so nobody thinks anything of it, and then the next person smiles back for the exact same reason, just going around in circles while everybody involved feels like an absolute idiot... unless, of course, someone actually enjoys the charade... god help us...

Noah Sanchez7 said:I’m just some messed up kid who’s spent his whole life making nothing but wrong moves. I hate how people live these days, and frankly, it pisses me off. That’s why I’ve chosen pure destruction. I refuse to let the system swallow me whole. Why? Because it’ll just suck me in, chew me up, and spit me out. For me, drugs are where the meaning is. I’m a victim of addiction, and honestly, I don’t care. It was my choice. Eternity from the mine, and that's my right. You guys probably feel sick seeing me, because I am everything you’re running away from. So go ahead, run. I’m fed up with all of you—fed up with those fake smiles you never take off, fed up with your obsession with always being "on," and sick of how too proud you all are. Your constant sucking up, the designer clothes, the perfect hair... it all irritates me. I’m sick of the tuxedos and that forced sophistication. I might be a wreck, but you’re worse. You look pathetic in your desperate need to be accepted. You'll swallow anything just to climb the social ladder. You're just snakes wrapped in polite manners and hollow morality.
Every time I tried to be a "decent person" by your standards, I failed miserably, and I ended up hating myself for even trying.
I’m exhausted by you people and your endless prejudices and stereotypes. You refuse to see reality. All you care about is yourselves and your polished egos.
And don't get me started on those mindless clones posing in overpriced bistros; they’ll probably just marry for a paycheck. They don't give a damn about love; they just want the cash. Some are so clueless they don't even realize they aren't in love—they're just in love with themselves, clinging to some guy who exists solely to cater to their childish whims.
You dream of trips to Mauritius or Bali. Why? Just to snap a few photos to prove your "status" and show everyone you can live high on the hog.
You’re totally oblivious and pretty damn stupid.
All you do is want. You're constantly terrified of being left behind, feeling that pressure to fit in. Every once in a while, you toss a couple of bucks to some poor soul and think you’ve done a good deed. Poor Jadnicak, he's got nothing to eat.
What do you actually have? Nothing but obligations. You’re shackled, and your souls are miles away from freedom. You lost yourselves a long time ago.
Your lives are just templates. You’re machines. Every morning is a carbon copy. The alarm goes off, you get up, brush your teeth, and shove your feet into expensive—yet somehow still depressing—shoes, tightening a tie that defines your look but actually strangles you.
It reminds me of people going to the gym...
Is that really living? Is there any beauty in that?
Is luxury your only goal? Not eating at a local burger joint, but insisting on some five-star restaurant instead. What will you say when you retire? What will you say on your deathbed?
Whose life have I lived? You will all umrecet happy.
Honor to the exceptions.
I won't be surprised if you kill this thread or ban me.
Take care.
I’m not sure if happiness is actually what you’re after, but from a psychological standpoint, you seem destined to lose yourself in this fixation on everyone else—and based on what you wrote, that fixation is massive. It feels like you’re at war with the entire world, which is why you’re so preoccupied with what others are doing. You’re trying to build an identity solely through opposition to them, which explains all this resentment and hostility. Maybe if you tried to address why everything grates on your nerves so much... you can't really change the society around you, so you either have to learn to live with the irritation or turn inward, because being miserable just because someone picked up some clothes at a high-end boutique isn't exactly a healthy way to exist 🙂

You honestly don't get what I'm talking about. I'm saying that nowadays, people care about everything except themselves. Self-care is at the bottom of the list.
Rise, run, rush, stop, fall. There are no questions about why or for what purpose.
All you care about is basic survival. That’s my point. You'll spend your whole lives being chewed up just to put food on the table.
So, what's the point of living? Just to eat? What comes after that?
Is this really what life is? If so, I'm not a fan. Who designed this mess? You did. And that's why I hate you.
Credit to the exceptions, though.
That's why I know how my story ends. I'll be an addict, live another two or three years, and then umrecet. I'm choosing that over that "straight" lifestyle that's nothing but boredom and misery.
And I don't think anyone's going to mourn me, nor do I care. They can talk trash at my funeral for all I care.
One more thing. I'm sick to death of nationalists, racists, and anti-Semites.
I am a Mexican, so shouldn't you hate me?
?!
So you're the one judging everyone else while acting like seeing someone actually enjoy themselves makes you sick... let me put it this way, I’m wearing my Gap suit and I feel damn good in it, and quite frankly, I couldn't care less about your struggles or your attitude, yet you're sitting there miserable just watching me smile in it... then you have the nerve to claim I’m too focused on others and putting myself last, but I think you might have that backward... because honestly, you can't possibly know what someone prioritizes just by looking at what they choose to wear...
All you care about is survival... that's what I'm trying to tell you. For your entire lives, someone is just going to chew you up just to put bread on their own table...
Everyone carries their own set of values, and honestly, if you spend all your energy picking apart someone else's moral compass, you're likely dealing with a much deeper issue than whatever they're doing... It’s probably better to just focus on your own business, especially when nobody is bothering you, so there's really no reason to be so preoccupied with everyone else. And seeing someone walking around in a Gap sweater isn't exactly an intrusion into your private life... You really should try practicing a little tolerance—just live your life and let others live theirs...
Whether I prioritize carving out a decent life for myself and the people I care about is really just my own business, so I honestly can't wrap my head around why it gets under your skin so much...
I don't think anyone’s actually going to bother showing up, though I honestly couldn't care less if they don't... let them just make their own noise at the funeral...
I don't think many people are going to lose sleep over your struggles, considering how much energy you pour into worrying about everyone else's...
I'm a Mexican, so I assume the hatred is already directed my way...
I don't hate you, I just couldn't care less about you... Why would I bother with hating or loving someone like that, anyway... You really need to come down to earth and realize you aren't nearly as important as you seem to think you are...

The more willpower you have, the more power you wield..Living completely isolated from society is POSSIBLE! But that’s too massive a leap for me. I want to be involved. You’re being a bit contradictory here, don't you think?! You're basically tripping over your own words... one minute you want to be part of the whole, the next you don't... make up your mind and let us know🙏

Where there is will, there is power.
Living without society is possible, but it would be too extreme for me. I want to be involved.
You're right. I am a total contradiction. I'm never quite sure of anything, not even when I'm heading to bed!
#129 ·
Man, call me contradictory if you want, because that’s pretty much what I am... but hey, whatever, I guess the world needs people like me to keep things interesting. I’m not about to go changing who I am just because the world won't budge, and since nothing else is moving, everything just stays exactly how it is... I guess you just have to find a way to make peace with all of it, unless what else are you even gonna do...?

I'll be honest, I have my own doubts about things too—who knows what exactly—but this whole situation just looks wrong, especially in your case... Still, you’ve got to take a stand on certain fundamental things in life. If you don't, people stop giving a damn about you pretty fast... They start thinking you're just spineless and insecure, and then they lose interest in dealing with you altogether... because all you ever do is spin your wheels. 🍿

Ha! Honestly, I don't even care if people get to know me. That's reserved for the few I actually choose to let in.
I'm not naive, but I'm probably green. And as for being insecure? Yeah, that's definitely true.
I view reality as having two sides: subjective and objective. You could think of subjective as East and objective as West.
When it comes to those two sides, I'm certainly green on one, but quite mature on the other.
Look, when I commit to something, I go all in, which means I neglect other areas (where I am definitely too naive). I dedicate myself to searching for truth, meaning, and the core essence of our existence. I think I'd be wrong to say "my" existence, so I say "our."
I "don't have the time" to earn my own bread, so I eat someone else's. So I'm green there, but on the flip side, I compensate for that bread.
So, if you look at me from the perspective of a normal person just trying to make a living, I'm just a loser and a parasite. But it's not true that I've never been part of that world.
I was part of that world once, but then a question popped up. Existence is fine, but for what? Because existing just for the sake of existing makes no sense to me.
That's why I left "that life" behind to go looking for more concrete answers.
Another thing: many people are caught up in this worldly struggle for existence, but they aren't being true to themselves. They never set out on their own path to begin with. For them, every day is a grind.
My philosophy and life motto isn't "life is suffering," even though it sure looks that way sometimes.
So, I took my time, and looked around..

Whether there’s an inherent meaning to it all is a deep philosophical rabbit hole, though I find myself agreeing that existence without a purpose feels entirely hollow...
But I wonder how you’re defining existence here—are we talking about the grand cosmic "why are we even here" type of thing, or just the practical side, like securing enough resources to actually survive...

Look, some people actually have empathy. They're called empathetic people. You clearly aren't one of them, but I am. I just care about you and your well-being!
Because you don't give a damn about anyone else; you only look out for yourself. (That's how you put it above.)
What can I say? You chose the easy way out, and clearly, it's working out fine for you.

Are you trying to be some misunderstood artist or a deep-thinking philosopher or just something weird, man?
Look, having empathy is fine within reason, but you really shouldn't overdo it... because if you try to carry the weight of the entire human race on your shoulders and worry about every single soul out there, your nerves are just going to snap...

I didn't say that—don't twist my words. I said I couldn't care less about you, mainly because I don't see why I should be concerned with someone who feels sorry for me just because they see me working in my boss's department while judging my every move. I'm not sure how to make this simple for you... I just have no desire to waste my energy on you, just as you seem intent on wasting your negativity on me. You've chosen your path, and from what I can tell, you aren't looking for any help, nor do you want mine... It feels like you've cast yourself as the center of the universe, expecting everyone to revolve around you, which is probably why you started this whole thread in the first place.
If you were some starving kid trying to get through college without a cent to your name, maybe I'd actually bother trying to help you out. But as far as I can see, you're perfectly content with your life and your own little set of values... good for you, I guess, but I don't see why that involves me. Maybe if I ever find myself with nothing better to do than obsess over other people's lives like it's some cheap daytime soap opera...
Do you see the distinction now?
What can I even say? You took the easy way out, and apparently, it was "good for you"...
Yeah, I'm thrilled with how things are going...

You really think you're the first one to come along with this kind of whining? 🙂

Look, it’s not even about you wearing that damn expensive suit and looking sharp in it.
It's more about how this whole messed up world starts valuing you way more just because of the designer threads and the luxury car you're driving, while all the actual, meaningful stuff just gets pushed to the side...
And honestly, it happens constantly; we see it playing out right in front of our eyes every single day.
You see decent, hardworking people getting passed over while the brown-nosers and the scammers are out there basking in the spotlight. Like seeing some corporate shark at JPMorgan Chase climb the ladder just by sucking up to the CEO while the actual talent stays stuck in the cubicle...
I mean, I guess it depends on who cares, right? Some people have way more empathy than others when they see everything going to hell.
For instance, I'll be like—ugh, here goes another charity drive for some disease, whatever, people pass away every day anyway.
But then there's someone else who actually gives a damn.
Ugh, I don't even know what smart point I was trying to make... I totally lost my train of thought somewhere in these rambling sentences...

Exactly. I was practically forced into buying a decent car just because people gave me these strange looks whenever I showed up to meetings in my old Fiat... I'm not denying that those kinds of superficial judgments exist, or that much of the world actually functions that way. But for me, the bottom line is doing whatever makes me happy, whereas someone else might find their joy in having every head on the street turn toward them just because they're wearing the latest Prada shirt. It seems ridiculous to me, but for my colleague from Texas, that kind of thing triggers this deep-seated urge for destruction—not physical violence, mind you, but a psychological compulsion that stems from his own issues, even if the root of it is a societal one...
I see those as two completely different issues... I find myself recoiling at the sheer amount of nonsense in this society—everything from trashy reality TV and Big Brother to the gambling, drinking, and obsession with football... everyone eventually encounters things in their environment that clash with their own core values, so it really just comes down to whether they have the strength of character to handle it... some people will recognize the problem but refuse to let it compromise who they are, while others will simply "blend in" to survive, and some will just spiral into depression...
I’ve finally found my balance, and honestly, I’m at peace with it... It’s just one of those ridiculous ironies where I felt forced to buy a car just so people wouldn't judge me during business meetings, yet now that I actually have one, I'm landing better jobs and finding myself with enough extra cash to donate to charity... Life is just one long series of messed up situations like that... 🙂
While some people are busy chasing nothing, the things that actually matter are just going to be left behind...
What holds true for you and me might mean absolutely nothing to someone else... I try my best not to lecture people on their own values, but I see certain folks in this group doing exactly that, and not in a way that actually fixes anything, just in a rather destructive sort of fashion. We can only really influence things through the tools we actually have—raising our kids right and keeping our own heads straight. Everything else is just an illusion, at least for us regular people who aren't sitting on a billion dollars... I gave up on trying to save the world a long time ago, and now I just focus on making sure my own life and the lives of those close to me are a little bit better. It seems perfectly possible to find some happiness within the system as it stands...
It’s happening every single day, and we just sit here watching it unfold right in front of us...
It’s funny how you watch decent people just stall out while the sycophants and the thieves seem to be basking in the sun... like seeing some corporate climber at a Fortune 500 company leapfrog over everyone just because they know how to kiss the CEO's ring...
We really ought to start pulling the levers on some legal mechanisms to actually prosecute things like corporate looting and predatory privatization... though from what I can gather here, people just seem to get nauseated whenever they see someone who looks well-dressed and actually has a smile on their face...
honestly, I don't get why people take offense when someone points out the world is falling apart, it's just how much empathy some people carry...
for instance, if I say—yeah, here we go again with another charity drive for some disease, I just can't bring myself to care since people are dying every single day anyway...
well, for some people, it actually matters.
Anyone with half a brain is going to recognize when things are broken, and anyone with a shred of heart will try to push back against injustice and suffering, at least until they have to prioritize their own interests over everything else... but I suppose that wasn't really the point here.
P.S. maybe try mentioning who you're replying to next time
