My wife deals with schizoaffective disorder... so you can imagine how much fun I have when she decides to skip her meds for a few days... then mania just completely takes over her life, and before I know it, we're staring down a whole month of Haldol 😢

Ugh, New York City... honestly, I feel you, I’m also flying an F-22
It’s actually really heartening to see more examples like this out there.
For instance, back in the day, my parents wouldn't even let me date a certain guy.
But my husband? He’s such a rock for me. Even on those days when I’ve already mentally checked out of the marriage three times, he’s right there to remind me that I’m still human, too.

Well, your husband clearly has some serious intellect if he actually sees you as a complete human being, flaws and all—though, let’s be honest, since he actually went through with the wedding, your perks obviously far outweigh any little quirks you might have. 😉

Thanks for the rating on the marriage bit, though if you ask me, anyone can find someone to tie the knot with. That’s really the least of our worries.
What kind of meds is your wife on?

Lithium, Normabagel, if I’m feeling depressed right now it’s Cipralex—since Prozac was off the shelves for a while—plus Lorazepam to help me sleep alongside the Normabagel, but once things stabilize I just stick to Lithium, and when mania kicks in, it's Haldol.

Does it actually impact your social life??
I personally struggle quite a bit with typical social norms.
And does it lead to any psychosomatic issues?
Because I deal with plenty of those myself.🙄 😉

In her social life, she basically just checks all the boxes to meet those bare minimum societal expectations
as far as how she views the world goes... some of her perspectives are pretty unorthodox, but they offer a fresh way of looking at things and can be quite a challenge to wrap your head around
she rarely deals with any psychosomatic issues.
so, what kind of problems are you dealing with?

I deal with this ongoing issue where I get chest pains that radiate out toward my back or ribs, but since I'm convinced it all stems from the heart, I can live with that.
Nice to meet you Mr. New York, my husband and I are actually about to settle in to watch an episode of Voyager before we head to bed.🙄

I was over in San Francisco earlier. My doctor there is such a gem—she’s honestly like a neighbor you can actually count on.
Because of that, I ended up being prescribed more antidepressants.
By "gem," I mean she's just incredibly kindhearted.😈

She even mentioned how surprised she was by how few people seem to visit the depression topic here.

So, how do you define a psychosomatic issue? For me, it's usually these sudden headaches, but sometimes it feels like my boundaries aren't even solid... like, I can actually feel my throat or nose acting up. You know, like getting all stuffed up out of nowhere. And with the headaches, it's all over the place—sometimes it’s just this dull, heavy pressure, other times it's a sharp, stabbing pain, sometimes right at the top of my head and sometimes lower down.🤣

You'll find the best breakdown of that in the book by Lois Lane: How to Heal Mind and Body, right at the end🤣 🤣 🤣

That’s a hilarious title for a book: "How to Heal Mind and Body at the End of the Book"... haha! You basically skipped the whole thing... straight into the middle of the action, or just skipping to the finish line, hehe

So, what exactly is going on at the very beginning of the book? 🙂)

At the very start of the book, she talks about how she isn't tied down by material things. She basically believes that if you just set your mind to something—not just wish for it, but truly intend it—the entire universe will conspire to make it happen. And hey, it worked; she beat cancer. Plus, she stays active and eats healthy. Everything kicks off with this big move.
So, what do we think of her?

Regardless of whatever deep philosophical point the author was trying to make with that whole "if you set your mind to something, the entire universe will conspire to make it happen" bit, it’s honestly one of the most irritatingly cliché sentences I’ve ever had the misfortune of reading, mostly because the universe doesn't actually bend its knee to anyone—it tends to conspire against people, not for them.👎

My mom actually battled cancer too, so I really have to hand it to her.
That woman looks pretty thin—if she were twenty years younger, I might actually recognize her, but I haven't seen a recent photo of her online in ages.
As for the whole astrology thing, I honestly don't know what to make of it.
The truth is, sometimes you just have to step over people to reach your goals. I don't have any issues with that, even if it is starting to catch up with me.

My wife is doing alright; we actually just got back from her checkup today... the doctor decided to bump up her antidepressant dosage a little bit, but everything else seems to be tracking perfectly fine

😲 No way, I was there too!
Does anyone else deal with their sex life taking a hit because of medication? Honestly, sometimes all those prescriptions just completely kill my drive.
