has anyone here picked up any decor or boutonniere supplies in the local area near Indianapolis?
If you have, where did you find the good stuff? 🙂

I'm not in D.C., but honestly, my main wedding hauls have come from a small town in Ohio, the District of Columbia, and Arizona. I bet things are cheap in D.C. too—it's all basically the same part of the country, right? And everything there is way, way cheaper. Since I still have 5 months until the big day, I actually swung by Arizona a few weeks ago just to browse and ended up grabbing some tulle for my place at home. Based on my math, if I buy the napkins, balloons, various decor, tulle, dessert boxes, boutonnieres, and bowties there, I'll spend about $67... whereas if I bought them locally here, I'd be paying over $67 just for the tulle and bowties alone.

What documents am I looking at, what are the fees, and is there a strict three-month window, or can I get it done even earlier?

I actually just went through the whole registration thing at the Registrar's Office in Indianapolis recently.

You both show up at the Registrar's Office about 45 days before the big day, bring your IDs, and grab copies of your Godfathers' IDs too—though if one of you wasn't born in Indianapolis, you'll probably need to bring a fresh birth certificate, but if you were born locally, you should be fine. Once you're there, they'll hand you two payment slips to take to a local bank or the post office, and then you just bring those receipts back to the office.

It’s going to cost you $100.

There's also this extra charge of $1.75 you pay at a window right across from the main office, though I honestly couldn't tell you exactly what that specific fee covers; the clerk will point you in the right direction.

From what I gather, the sweet spot for filing is somewhere between 30 and 45 days before the wedding, and that's pretty much the deal. We ended up filing about 43 days out, and since we don't actually live in Indianapolis, we had to call ahead to smooth things over and nail down our ceremony time.

That’s basically all there is to it 😉

Thanks so much for getting back to me!
I heard that you can find pretty much everything at the local markets in the District of Columbia, too 🙂

Is this procedure just for civil ceremonies? Does it not apply if there's a church wedding involved?

Probably. We're doing the whole church thing—so we get the ceremony and the legal side covered all at once (at least that's how it works here in the States)—we just have to grab those green documents from the Registrar's Office and hand them over to the priest.

We are planning on a church wedding as well, and honestly, reading this has me a bit spooked—I haven't finalized any of the paperwork yet... and the big day is creeping up on us fast.☕

yeah, that's strictly for the civil side of things; I've got no clue how the church stuff works 😛

Any girls planning a trip down to Canada for wedding season? I just got back from a small town in Ohio where there's literally only one bridal boutique left—everyone else shut down. Since I'm on the curvier side, I didn't find anything that worked for me, but for all you gorgeous ladies out there, I highly recommend checking them out. Prices range from $500 to $2 $267, and honestly, some of the dresses are stunning!!

I knocked all that out last week. You just hit up the Registrar's Office to get those green forms (costs about $55), take them to the church, and you're golden. They'll let you know if they need anything else.

I'm not actually planning on a civil ceremony at the Registrar's Office, just handling the paperwork, ruggedsailor but what exactly do you have to bring to the office to get that green certificate?

This is what was on the flyer we got at that pre-marital seminar in Columbus, though I bet it's pretty much the same everywhere else:

Documents needed for a church wedding:
"Government documents:
"Proof of eligibility for religious marriage" (the green slip)—you get this from the Registrar's Office in the area where you're getting married, and you can grab it a few months before the big day
To get this, you'll need: birth certificates and IDs for both partners

Church documents:
Baptismal certificate (not older than 6 months),
Certificate of single status (issued with the baptismal record to prove you aren't already hitched)—must be less than 6 months old,
Permission for marriage—basically notifying the local parish through their officiant about the upcoming wedding,
Certificate from the pre-marital course

The Godfathers don't need to bring any paperwork. Any adult can stand in as a witness during the ceremony.

Hope that helps

Hey ladies! 👋

I'm not actually from the Midwest, but I wanted to reach out and see if anyone here happens to order or has any intel regarding those homemade pastries from Small Town, USA?

I've heard such incredible things about them—apparently, they have that perfect, authentic homemade flavor—so if anyone knows what the price per pound is, or how much they charge for a slice of cake, I would be incredibly grateful for the info. 🙂>

We've got them! We were looking for something budget-friendly, but honestly? We changed our minds. 🙂 My brother, my sister, my fiancé's entire family—basically half my relatives have had the stuff from B. greda, and we are obsessed!!! Highly recommend. Right now they're going for $22 /lb

Thanks so much! 🙂

To be honest, it feels like every cookie I've tried so far tastes more or less the same—but since everyone seems to be raving about these, I figured I’d check it out...

Anyway, I'm going to give 😁
a call.

Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to pick up some 40ml mignon glass bottles?
Ideally, they would be around $2.00 or even slightly smaller than that!🙂

Something like this? These ones are actually smaller than $1.00 (check out the rest of their stuff too):

Thanks! I was wondering if there's anywhere in the Midwest or maybe around St. Louis where I could actually go and see them in person?

If anyone happens to know, I'd really appreciate the help.

Maybe check out a place like Total Wine? They carry various bottles, though their selection might be a little limited...

No clue where you're from, but back home on Facebook, we used to have those little rural pharmacies everywhere—like Russell or whatever.

You can find those bottles over in St. Louis at FIS. If I recall correctly, they were priced at about a dollar per unit, which puts them well under $1.25 a buck apiece...
