If you're planning a church ceremony, you just need to get everything sorted about a month ahead of time—that’s what I did....
And hey, I've been happily married for 12 days now! 🙂🙂

Congratulations and all the best! If you don't mind me asking, which band did you hire?

I have to agree and give Jane some credit too; I tried on so many dresses elsewhere, but nothing really felt right.
I absolutely loved Isabelle’s salon over in Slavonski Brod, so that's where I ended up booking everything.

But seriously, major props to Jane.

Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to pick up some adhesive tape? I was thinking it could serve as a little DIY fix for our hair accessories instead of using those bulky hair ties or pliers.

Also, does anyone know where one can find some affordable bracelets or wristbands? It would be a nice little gesture for the ladies. Just something simple and easy, nothing too fancy, I suppose.

I'll just grab a bracelet from the hallway,$0.67 just one, something with a little white flower on it—nothing crazy.

Forgot to mention—I was over in Indianapolis visiting Nicole, and she’s where I picked out my wedding dress. It’s normally $4,500, but since $0.00 there’s a massive sale this year, I snagged it for $3,500. So, if anyone's looking to save a few bucks, go see Nicole. Just a heads up, the dress is still tagged—I'm wearing it for the first time in July, so it shouldn't be anything less than perfect by October. Pretty sure everyone is getting a discount at Nicole's right now.

That makes sense! When I went to try on my dress back in mid-February, everything still had the tags on it and the new collection was already out... though honestly, nobody ever told me when the actual debut for the current pieces was supposed to be, so I'm kind of in the dark on that part myself...

The Bonus Band! And honestly, I have to admit, even though I was a little skeptical when we first booked them, they totally blew me away—not just me, but all the guests too 🙂 the guys and the girl are just fantastic, and man, the singer has an incredible voice!!! if I were ever to get married again, they’d definitely be my go-to!

Thankful 🙂

Just a little friendly advice: don't let anything get under your skin!
Live in the moment, because seriously, the day just flies by in a blink!
I started planning my wedding a year and a half early, and trust me on this—no matter how hard I worked to make everything perfect, it’s just impossible to control everything!
For instance, the guy I booked the tent from for the reception? He rented it out to someone else for a political rally just three days before the big day! And the flowers? A total gamble until the very last second. I specifically wanted peonies (which are $17/pcs), but the garden suppliers either didn't bloom enough or overdid it, so the whole decor situation was basically a surprise until Friday night :P To top it off, on Saturday, May 11th, when we were getting married around 5 PM, the weather turned absolutely insane. It was a total downpour—like, I swear it rained harder that day than it has in the last century (we had 28 liters of rain in just 10 minutes!!! plus hail!) and there was even flooding inside the church where the ceremony was held 😁
But honestly, the second my husband and I decided to go through with the wedding, I told myself right then: "I am not letting anything, and I mean ANYTHING, stress me out." And I stuck to it! It was fantastic, and I wouldn't change a single tiny detail! Just accept that you can't please everyone and things won't go exactly according to plan. Relax and enjoy every single minute!
To wrap up this little essay of mine 🙂 I want to wish you all tons of happiness, love, and God's blessings! 😍 👋

redwolf262 said:Hey ladies from the Midwest area,
has anyone here picked up any decor or boutonniere supplies in the local area near Indianapolis?
If you have, where did you find the good stuff? 🙂

Hey, I have a wedding next summer, but when my sister got married, we grabbed everything at Party City in NYC—they actually have locations in Columbus too. They have an online site and they carry pretty much everything you'd need: ribbons, artificial flowers, bunting, table runners, balloons... all that stuff. As for the area around Slavonski Brod, we didn't really find much specific decor there. You could probably find something if you spent the time driving around, but I don't think it's worth the hassle. Prices aren't what they used to be, and honestly, at Party City, you just get it all in one stop.
When is your big day? I'm curious about your take on bands—what kind are you looking for? I've found two that fit the vibe, but I'm still searching for a band for the wedding party. We'll have quite a few international guests, so it's important to me that they play both foreign hits and our local classics, preferably some evergreen tracks. Do you happen to know a good band from the Slavonski Brod area? Just nothing like Tamuraşe.

Anyone from the Indianapolis area or nearby? I’m looking for a band similar to the Sax Band or Samorski Fakin, if anyone here knows that kind of sound.
I want a group that plays plenty of international tracks along with some local hits—ideally some older classics too. My guests are pretty diverse, so I need that variety; honestly, I just prefer this style over a traditional folk ensemble anyway. If you have any recommendations beyond the two I mentioned, please let me know. I’ve already checked out Babylon, Passage, Quattro Band, The Speen, and Status. A few of them are great, but their rates are a bit steep for me. I’m looking to stay under $1,700 total, including travel, though $1,500 would be the sweet spot.

Best,

We ended up booking the Viva Box band from Columbus🙂
http://www.facebook.com/viva.box.9?fref=ts

We put down the deposit back in November of last year, and the price was right around $1,000$0.00.

And thanks for all the advice regarding the ribbon materials.
I know of one good supplier, but we'll probably still do a little digging at the local flea markets just to be sure...😉

My wedding is on October 5th, 2013—feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to swap more stories...🙂

Best,

We ended up booking Passage for $1,500. We heard great things about them, so we went with them. We gave them our song list and they know almost everything; we’ll definitely have some international music. They play just about everything, except for country music, obviously (except for Halid).
What do you think of them? We haven't actually had the chance to hear them live yet.
Good luck!

I saw the Passage band at a wedding recently—they were absolutely fantastic. 😉

As for a SAX, they're playing my gig... I'm genuinely curious to see how it turns out. 🙂

Quick question regarding all the flowers and decor used in the venue... what do you guys actually do with everything once the wedding reception wraps up? Do you take it all home to share with your inner circle—like if there are small bouquets or centerpieces that are easy to carry? Or maybe those candles that haven't even been lit yet?

Does anyone know of any good bakers making cookies or baby shower cakes around the St. Louis area, besides the folks over at Small town, USA? They seem to be the only ones everyone talks about, so I was wondering if there are any other great options out there?

Other than those two, I know about Vigor in Indianapolis...

At my old weddings, we’d usually just get all this floral decor from our relatives. For mine, I'm sticking mostly to martini glasses, little centerpieces, and water—mostly because I have zero clue what I'd even do with a mountain of flowers after the party ends.

I actually ended up ordering my treats from Delicije in El Paso—you should go check them out! They have a Facebook page loaded with tons of photos, and honestly, I've tried their stuff before and it was delicious.

Then there is Catherine from Ivan's place 🙂—I've heard good things about her.
