Melissa Sanchez59 said:I think you misunderstood me—not really. Of course I get up and go to work, but the issue isn't just that I'm sleepy. It's more like I'm completely slowed down and my brain feels totally blunt. I just can't think. I don't know how to put it, everything is just... foggy? I can barely make even the simplest logical connections...

So, if I see that I won't be able to get enough sleep, I'd rather just nap for a couple of hours on something milder, then just power through the next day with coffee to stay somewhat functional. Because, honestly, I'm just sleep-deprived. What I'm talking about isn't just being tired—it's much worse than that.

I get up at 6:30 AM. If I want to try and sleep, I have to take an AP by 8:30. By 9:00, I'm already feeling totally drugged, and by 10:00 at the latest, I've passed out. So, you can probably imagine that sometimes I just have way too much going on and I can't exactly afford to sleep that much every single day.

That’s exactly how it’s been for me whenever I’ve had a job, past or present.

I mean, fine, go ahead and vent—it sucks, I get it—but you aren't going to find a fix for this on an internet forum. You need to go see a real doctor in a proper clinic.

I’m not really looking for any fixes here—just kind of venting a little bit 😁

I don't have a doctor at the moment, which is causing me some pretty big headaches, I guess.

Listen.
Just split one of those 25 mg tablets in half.
Have you tried that yet?
There is absolutely no risk involved, and honestly, it might actually work—(ugh, I hate using that word) quite well.

I completely understand you. 🙂 It is a revolting feeling when someone can barely connect two dots and just stares blankly like an idiot 😁
Maybe try drinking half of what I drink—if that turned me into whatever it is you're describing, then I wouldn't be drinking at all. If I were a literal lunatic, maybe you'd have better luck being understood.

I might just give it a shot with half—thanks to both of you! 🙂

Alright, let me know how it goes. I truly hope you manage to get some rest so you aren't walking around like a zombie tomorrow morning.

Melissa Sanchez59 said:I'm on Lexapro. The thing is, it seems to hit me even with just one pill (25 mg). I'm pretty petite and have low blood pressure, so maybe that's why.

I'm actually okay with coffee😁 When I'm going through a really rough patch, I'll have one in the morning just to feel human again, but after that, no way. But when I'm feeling relatively alright, I can sip it all day long... It's the opposite with the Associated Press stuff—when I'm feeling low, I can take them all day, but when I'm doing well, even just one 😁
knocks me out.

What is your weight and height?

Yes, it is entirely possible that you are simply too small for that specific dosage. As others have pointed out, you risk being split
right down the middle. I eventually had to start splitting my own pills just to find
my own sweet spot.

The first time I took a Quetiapine pill, I genuinely thought I was dying because I felt like such a total zombie.😁

We could always host a pajama party, then see who among us turns out to be a bigger zombie than a caffeine-deprived intern at Starbucks. 😁 Take care.
My therapist mentioned that I tend to react poorly to almost any medication intended to treat insomnia. Apparently, my body processes them in a rather unusual way—she used the term pharmacokinetics to explain it, though that’s just my layman's understanding. Because of this, even taking sub-therapeutic doses has left me feeling like I was in a coma for an entire day. This specifically happened with Ambien, Xanax, and Lunesta, so I've essentially hit a wall when it comes to hypnotics. It's incredibly frustrating.

Tiny little thing, definitely under 110 lbs😬

But honestly, I handled everything else pretty well after those initial side effects passed... One time I took 45 mg of Calixte (the standard dose back then), 2 mg of Misara (same thing), and 15 mg of Sanval, and I could barely even fall asleep. My mind was just racing everywhere.

Body weight really doesn't dictate how the therapy works.
Especially when you're dealing with antipsychotics.
Certain medications—like Torendo Q-tabs, for example—might be prescribed based on weight, sure.
But how your body actually tolerates a drug? That’s caused by a massive cocktail of factors: what you eat, your stress levels, how much sleep you get, your environment, physical activity, and so on.

So, what does that mean? It means your scale reading and your razor blade, or my own 180-pound frame and a razor blade, could react to a specific medication in the exact same way. It all comes down to which disorder we're talking about; we might see a typical response to the drug, or perhaps an atypical one.

I personally disagree, though I can't quite articulate why beyond the fact that my son's psychiatrist specifically asked
for his weight before finalizing the prescription. My son is incredibly
thin.

Now, when it comes to children, that is an entirely different matter altogether.
The conversation wasn't about kids, so I didn't bring it up.
But look, we certainly have some child psychology experts present here on this forum, don't we?😉

🙂

But he *is* a child.
Just kidding.
I don't know his exact age, but typically the instructions state that adult therapy protocols aren't meant to be swapped with those for anyone under 18. It isn't strictly defined down to the day and month, obviously, but surely there's some level of medical tolerance? Isn't there?
If he's extremely thin, I suspect the doctor might be assuming—just an assumption on my part!—that given his body weight, he won't react to the medication in the standard or expected way.
So, if that's the case, it would be justified... though again, I am merely speculating.
What exactly is going on with him?
Anyway, I was looking over that combination of medications you listed (Calixta, Sanval, Misar...)
Now, I’m probably not the best benchmark for what constitutes a "heavy" dose by most standards, but I highly doubt I'd even be feeling drowsy on that specific regimen.
I'm currently taking 30 mg of Calixta, 200 mg of Q-Pin (!!!), and 75 mg of Velafax—plus I occasionally take Zonadin, just a little 5 mg dose, along with Lamal, which used to be 25 mg but is now 50 mg.
I’ll spend about an hour just swaying back and forth before I finally head to bed.🤣
Once I do fall asleep, it's like someone hit me over the head with a heavy oar.😍

🙈

I completely lost my bearings with the boss and the station.
You were the one bringing up q-pin.
As for me? Well, I take 200 mg of it every single night. Honestly, out of everything I have ever tried—and believe me, I have tried a mountain of stuff—it remains my absolute best option so far.
I have no idea what your dosage looks like, or if you are even on it, but from what I’ve read about other people's experiences... there are side effects, you know? Allergies, stomach issues, things like that. But really, it’s just like drinking chamomile tea.

How on earth did I get my wires so crossed that I swapped out Tene and No.13? It’s like I wasn't even looking!🙂

Hahaha, please, these things happen, and we're all just human.
I used to take 150 mg of Quincy, but I eventually had to cut it off because of some neurological glitches.
Now I'm relying on Virginia. It barely helps me drift off at this point, but I suppose that's still better than facing total
insomnia.

Well, 45 mg of Calixta, 15 mg of Sanval, and 2 mg of Misar isn't exactly nothing; if you ask me, it sounds like quite a lot... when I mentioned earlier that I take 1.5 mg of Xanax throughout the day, 10 mg of Sanval at night, and 7.5 mg of Calixta, you told me that was too much.

Now, look, it's not like I went hunting through your old posts looking for trouble, but I suppose if I did say it was a lot, I should have asked how you were actually feeling or something, right? Like, what's the actual impact on you?
Furthermore... my point about it not being "much" was strictly from MY perspective. For someone else? Sure, absolutely, it could be way too much.
I truly believe that "much" and "little" are such subjective terms! Isn't that just the truth? Every single one of us experiences things differently, so we all report our tolerance based on our own bodies. That's really the only way to judge whether something is extreme or not—by looking at the individual response.
Think about it: one person takes an Advil and feels nauseous for half the day, while another person deals with a massive migraine and just laughs in your face when you even mention an Advil. It's all relative, isn't it?

Actually, thinking about it more, this might be okay—I used to take 25-50 mg of Seroquel during the day and could function just fine, but now one or two pills before bed totally wipes me out. Maybe I’ve just become way more anxious than I realized? 🙂

Anyway, I tried taking just half a pill last night and ended up staying awake all night. I guess I really can't deal with the insomnia after all 😁
