Nobody is talking me into anything; I'm making my own choices.
Do you happen to know something I don't? 🙂

Honestly, I still can't wrap my head around how much these pills can mess with you. Maybe they aren't the sole culprit, but they definitely played a part. Here's the deal: I had to get up way earlier than usual one morning. My phone was supposed to go off and wake me up, but nothing happened.

The night before, I knocked back two 0.5mg xanax tablets and had a shot of whiskey... there's no way that was still hitting me 7 or 8 hours later, right??? This isn't even like me; I don't usually sleep through stuff like this.😕😕😕

I've always got this internal "alarm" that goes off whenever I have responsibilities. But this time? I just kept sleeping.🤷

Was that Jägermeister a 0.7 or a full liter? I'd say maybe try skipping the xanax—otherwise you might end up dealing with that whole "fear of not waking up" thing...

oh, and yeah—cut back on the Jäger, just two shots and a smile should do it...

I was on xanax 10 for months and ended up with a nasty dependency. A tolerance built up too, so it started doing more harm than good.
I decided to get off it. My doctor put me on Zoloft, and it took me almost a month to taper off the xanax. The withdrawal symptoms were pretty rough, even though I adjusted my doses really slowly to ease out.
The withdrawal hit me with body tremors, anxiety, fear, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dizziness—but I actually made it!!!!!

@Andrew Turner67, honestly, it’s no wonder you got wiped out. xanax stays in your system for quite a while, acting like a heavy sedative. At its core, it's a depressant; sure, it's an anxiolytic meant to dial down anxiety, but it also tanks your motor skills and psychomotor function. Then, if you decide to mix that with something like a shot of Jack Daniel’s... well, you're basically asking to hit rock bottom. You’ll be feeling absolutely trashed for at least another 24 hours after that. The golden rule is simple: never mix psychotropic meds with alcohol. It's better to focus on actually managing your symptoms rather than just knocking yourself unconscious and waking up feeling like a zombie.🤣

Obviously it was a 0.7L! 🤣 But look, I've been taking this medication for years. There were times when I was popping way higher doses and drinking way more booze than this. Maybe the "issue" is just that for the last year or two, I've been tapering down as much as possible. It depends on how I'm feeling. Now, even 0.5mg is enough to take the edge off, especially if I'm already exhausted.
I can't say I'm not addicted, but I wouldn't say I'm a total junkie either. I used to go a week or ten days without it. It wasn't exactly fun—headaches, slight hand tremors... but I managed to function.🤣

You definitely feel it leaving your system, obviously! Especially on those days when even the sunlight feels like too much. Looking at the sun makes my eyes ache.🤷

Hit me up once you move on to the "liter" phase so we can talk about starting a new therapy... though, I mean, you already know—neither approach actually fixes the root cause... neither one does... but at least one feels better initially... personally, I’m leaning toward vodka or Bacardi (honestly, any of those three works fine for me)

In theory, spending money on doctors would probably be a better move than blowing it all on meds...
but I think cosmictinker21 might have some actual useful insight.. regarding the medication side of things

Stumbled onto this forum looking for some info. I started taking Zoloft the other day and honestly, I can barely stay upright. Just constant fatigue, feeling drained, stomach issues, zero libido... I'm thinking about quitting. Should I just push through or head back to my doctor for something else? These pills feel way too strong for me, I guess.
Any advice would be huge, thanks.

Go find a different treatment, because maybe the Ad Zoloft just isn't right for you. That's exactly how it went for me.
I felt literally drunk. Instead of calming me down, it made everything worse—honestly, I think a glass of wine would've worked better.

Maybe I'm just super hyper since I read so much about Ad Zoloft, but I noticed the depression is gone and there's just... nothing else. Like, zero feeling. Even at my grandma's funeral, I couldn't even cry. Not to mention girls, or anything like that. Guess the meds just filled my depression with a big old void.🤷

I’ve got a client who’s decided to taper off her Zoloft since she doesn't need it anymore. I'm looking for some real-world intel from anyone who's actually gone through this... I've been digging around online, but honestly, it's just a mess of conflicting info.

I get that everyone reacts differently and there are a million variables involved, but I want the truth. I just want to make sure I'm fully prepared to guide her through it. 😁

hm... I will simply state that abruptly stopping Zoloft—rather than following a gradual taper—carries the risk of irritability, impulsive outbursts, and headaches. That is all...

I simply made the decision to stop taking them altogether. I had been taking two tablets every single day, but then I reached a point where I decided to just quit cold turkey. To my surprise, I didn't experience any unusual side effects or anything out of the ordinary at all.

I recently made the switch from Zoloft to Effexor. Even though I’d read plenty of stuff online suggesting a gradual taper over about a week, my doctor told me two days was plenty of time... It’s been two weeks now and, so far, I haven't hit any side effects.

Has anyone here actually taken these pills? I'm curious about how they worked for you. Also, can you just pick them up off the shelf, or do you need a prescription from a doctor? Thanks in advance...

You need a prescription. Honestly, they didn't do much for me, but hey, maybe you'll have better luck. It's all different for everyone.

How do I safely taper off Subutex?

I’m currently on Subutex, trying my hardest to kick the habit, but I just can't seem to make it stick... even though I've started taking antidepressants that are supposed to help me finally forget all about those cravings once and for all.

Look, you really need to follow whatever your doctor recommends. You don't just decide to stop on your own whim. If your physician is the one prescribing the Suboxone, they’re going to be the ones to manage your taper, too.

Could someone give me a rough idea of what SSRIs typically run these days? I'm considering seeing a private psychiatrist, and I’d really rather not have the medication costs become another massive financial burden on top of everything else. I realize it varies wildly depending on the specific prescription, but just as a ballpark figure—how many packs does the average person go through per month, how many pills am I looking at daily, and so on?
thanx! 😉

If you see a private psychiatrist, you can just take their assessment over to your primary care doctor, and they’ll write you the prescription so you don't have to pay out of pocket.

Besides, prices vary wildly depending on who you're seeing. It's hard to pin down, but maybe somewhere between $70 and $67. That’s probably just for a monthly supply,
