mistyheron8 said:I’ve been dealing with depression, anxiety, OCD, and non-purging bulimia, and about three weeks ago, I started taking Zoloft 50 mg. It only took about a week before I noticed my anxiety starting to ebb away, along with the depression. Things have actually improved since then; I’m even less anxious, feeling much more relaxed, less irritable, and that heavy, dark cloud of depression has finally begun to lift. Generally speaking, I feel quite content, almost as if nothing really gets under my skin anymore. It would be wonderful if I didn't have to study, but unfortunately, I do, so this newfound sense of being totally unbothered by everything is actually becoming a bit of a nuisance. Before, the anxiety was so paralyzing that I couldn't even bring myself to start studying. Now, however, I just seem to lack any real motivation or interest in anything. I’m wondering if I should perhaps add something to the Zoloft to help spark some drive and interest? I did a little reading suggesting that Wellbutrin might help with that, given its effect on norepinephrine—and dopamine at higher doses—though I also read it can increase jitters, irritability, or anxiety. Aside from that, I feel great on the Zoloft; I’m binge eating significantly less, and I don't feel nearly as terrible when I happen to eat a bit more than intended, plus the obsessive thoughts have diminished... the only issue is this total lack of motivation. I don't mind being indifferent to most things, but I really need to get my studying done. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I took 5 mg of Zoloft and felt great at first, but then a heavier depressive episode hit along with another AD. You should definitely ask your psychiatrist.

Jessica Rivera said:Thanks for the heads-up. Honestly, I might have gotten a little too comfortable since I started the AD, but after dealing with dysthymia for years, I seriously needed this.
Doing the "work"—does that mean I absolutely have to see a psychiatrist and go to therapy? Because right now, I seriously cannot afford that.
Worst part is, I'm dealing with all this completely alone. My parents have no clue I'm on AD (or that I even saw a doctor). Only my boyfriend knows, but it's like he doesn't get it or just doesn't care.

Can you please list all the side effects Paxil caused you and exactly when they started kicking in?

Actually, combining psychotherapy with AD would be absolutely ideal. No one is forcing you if it's not feasible for you right now, but I'm not sure how much progress you can make with just the medication alone. Look, I've been on Paxil for almost four years. I skipped therapy specifically because I felt fine—until things took a turn and I started feeling worse than ever before. Was it because I didn't seek quality psychotherapy? I can't say for sure, but I know that while I thought I was doing great, I was actually just standing still. I finally started therapy six months ago, and now I regret not going sooner; I probably would have moved past the need for Paxil by now instead of worrying about how to taper off.
As for side effects... at first, it was nothing major—just yawning, hot flashes, and increased sweating. About a year ago, those intensified, along with terrible drowsiness and exhaustion; I had zero energy. I gained 20 pounds over this last year just because I was sleeping all the time. My cholesterol went up, and my liver enzyme levels got pretty bad...

fadedbear92, I actually managed to scale down from 4 mg of Xanax daily to just 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.75 in less than three months. I was working closely with my doctor the whole way through, so there weren't any nasty side effects or anything. I also dropped my dose of Lamictal from 600 mg a day down to 400, while my Effexor stayed exactly where it was—just two 37.5 mg doses. 🙂

Akineton - Clinical Pharmacology

Akineton acts as a mild peripheral anticholinergic agent—meaning it carries some antisecretory, antispasmodic, and mydriatic properties. On top of that, it has nicotinolytic activity. The general idea is that Parkinsonism stems from an imbalance between the excitatory (cholinergic) and inhibitory (dopaminergic) systems within the corpus striatum. The mechanism of action of centrally active anticholinergic drugs such as Akineton is considered to Relata to the competitive antagonism of acetylcholine at cholinergic receptors in the corpus striatum, which helps restore that necessary balance.

The parenteral form of Akineton is an effective and reliable agent for The treatment of acute episodes of extrapyramidal disturbances sometimes seen during treatment with neuroleptic agents. Things like akathisia, akinesia, dyskinetic tremors, rigor, oculogyric crisis, spasmodic torticollis, and excessive sweating are significantly lessened or even wiped out entirely. By using Akineton with parenteral administration, these drug-induced side effects are quickly stabilized. After that initial stage, things can usually be managed with oral doses—which might even be paired with tranquilizer therapy for patients dealing with psychosis or other conditions that require a continuous treatment plan.

Pharmacokinetics and Metabolism
Pharmacokinetics and Metabolism only Limited pharmacokinetic Studies of biperiden in humans ara available. Following a single 4 mg oral dose, serum concentrations hit about 4-5 ng/mL within 1 to 1.5 hours. You can track plasma levels (0.1-0.2 ng/mL) for up to 48 hours post-dose. In rat studies, 87% of a 250 mg/kg oral dose was absorbed after six hours. While we don't fully grasp how Akineton is metabolized yet, we know hydroxylation is involved. Interestingly, in healthy volunteers, a single 10 mg IV dose appeared to trigger a temporary spike in plasma cortisol and prolactin, though no changes were noted in GH, LH, FSH, or TSH levels. Also, testing showed that Biperiden lactate (10 mg/mL) didn't irritate rabbit tissue when injected intramuscularly (1.0 mL) into the sacrospinalis muscles or via intradermal (0.25 mL) and subcutaneous (0.5 mL) routes in the abdomen.

Indications and Usage for Akineton

Used as an adjunct in The therapy of All forms of parkinsonism (including idiopathic, postencephalitic, and arteriosclerotic types)
Managing extrapyramidal disorders that arise from neuroleptic drug treatments (like phenothiazines)

How does Akineton work? What will it do for me?

Basically, this is used to manage Parkinson's Disease. It’s also a lifesaver for cutting down the tremors and that jittery, restless feeling you might get from certain antipsychotics or tranquilizers. It works directly on your nervous system to help balance out those chemical shifts linked to Parkinson's Disease.

Just a heads-up on timing—if you're using it for Parkinson's Disease, you probably won't feel the full impact until you've been on it for about 3 or 4 days. But, if it's being used to settle down the shakes caused by other meds, you might notice a difference in just a few hours or a couple of days.

Keep in mind, your doctor might have prescribed this for something totally different than what's mentioned in these standard info guides. If you're feeling unsure about why you're on it, definitely reach out to your physician. And please—don't just quit cold turkey without talking to them first!

Also, don't go passing this around. Even if a friend or family member is dealing with the exact same symptoms, it could be dangerous for them if it wasn't specifically prescribed by their own doctor.

How should i Use Akineton?

For adults treating Parkinson's Disease, the typical starting point is 1 mg twice a day. From there, your doctor might slowly bump you up—to a max of 16 mg daily—depending on how much symptom control you need. Usually, that's split into 3 or 4 doses, and it's often easier on the stomach to take it with or after a meal. Most people end up around 2 mg, taken 3 or 4 times a day. If it's just to handle side effects from other drugs, the standard is usually 2 mg, once to three times daily.

Dosing isn't one-size-fits-all, obviously. Things like your weight, other health issues, or even other meds you're taking can change how much you need. If your doctor gave you a specific dose that looks different from these guidelines, stick to their plan—don't try to adjust it yourself.

Staying on schedule is huge. You really need to follow your doctor's orders to the letter. If you miss a dose, grab it as soon as you realize, and then just get back to your normal routine. But, if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, just skip the missed one and move on. Whatever you do, don't double up to "catch up"—that's not the way to go.

Thanks so much! 🙂

But seriously, look—I’ve been putting in the actual work on myself lately. I'm hitting up psychotherapy sessions regularly, staying incredibly disciplined with my medication, and honestly? I feel better than I ever have. It’s wild because just three months ago, I was in such a dark place that my only real goal was to just end it all and stop causing pain to myself and everyone around me...

Anyway, how are things going with you?

The truth is, I feel an immense sense of joy now that I have successfully weaned myself off all hypnotics, AD, and anxiolytics... There was even a period when even my standard sleep aid wasn't enough, forcing me to rely on something much stronger. I am convinced that anyone can break free from this cycle, or at the very least, drastically reduce the dosage and variety of psychotropic medications they depend on.

One must simply find that inner strength or a spark of motivation to attempt the tapering process. I remember one New Year's Eve when I was still taking heavy sedatives; instead of waiting for the clock to strike midnight, I took my "little pill" around ten o'clock. I ended up wandering around at midnight congratulating everyone on the New Year, though I had no idea why I was doing it or even where I was! Only my mother knew I had taken the medication, as I tried to hide it from the rest of the household, but she told me later that I was making such bizarre facial expressions that it looked incredibly strange to everyone else, eventually forcing her to explain to the family that I was on medication.

It makes me wonder, what might have happened if, heaven forbid, I had experienced actual hallucinations or unpredictable outbursts?

Is it not a profound blessing when a person finally manages to liberate themselves from all of this? These substances are a great evil. I recall hearing—perhaps mentioned somewhere in this thread—that some children develop a significant psychological dependency on medications used for ADHD. I can't recall the specific name right now, but there are stories (or perhaps it is just prevalent here in the US) that these drugs are distributed so freely that schools almost had to hire a dedicated nurse just to hand them out to students, with children actually pleading, "Please, ma'am, give me my medicine."

Is it not truly horrifying to essentially drug young children?

Is it safe to take brewer's yeast and Plibex (Vitamin B complex) at the same time as antidepressants and anxiolytics? I'm just wondering if they might interfere with my medication or cancel out the effect. Right now, I've started on a newer drug on the market—Venlafaxine..

I believe you can certainly take Plibex. As for brewer's yeast, I am somewhat uncertain. If my budget allowed for it, wouldn't it be preferable to opt for a Vitamin B complex derived from botanical sources rather than yeast, given that yeast contains many substances we simply do not require, whereas Plibex provides a refined Vitamin B complex?

Furthermore, isn't it true that certain medications occupy a middle ground between antidepressant and antipsychotic actions? Some antipsychotics actually deplete Vitamin B complex levels in the bloodstream, necessitating supplementation. Therefore, I cannot help but wonder: if perhaps you are taking a medication that sits so precariously between being an antipsychotic and an antidepressant, might it not be wise to supplement with a Vitamin B complex? Though, wouldn't a natural source be better than a synthetic one?

It is important for me to note that while these pills typically take about thirty minutes to kick in, they would start taking effect on me in as little as fifteen minutes.

It isn't surprising that my memory of the situation is virtually non-existent, yet I am left feeling quite bewildered by how I managed to celebrate the New Year at all. How was I able to "know" when midnight had struck, or realize when it was time to get out of bed? How did I navigate my way through a room filled with furniture without losing my bearings, or—more importantly—without breaking anything or smashing my head against a wall?

Someone who doesn't typically use anti-anxiety meds or antidepressants takes 6 mg of xanax following a major stressful event. There's still no sign of it working. According to the internet, the recommended dose ranges from 1 to 10 mg. Would it be wise to take the remaining 4 mg, or is it more likely to be ineffective given that 6 mg hasn't done anything after five hours?

haldol is an antipsychotic, which basically tanks your mood by messing with serotonin and dopamine. they give it to those "jumpers"🤣 just to keep them grounded.

And don't even start with the Akineton talk if you don't know what you're talking about. Akineton is an anticholinergic; it stimulates dopamine receptors. Honestly, you'd probably need to knock back about 20 pills before you actually felt like you were "flying"... taking two or three won't even register.

I took three once and didn't feel a single thing.☕

Honestly, anyone claiming 6 mg of xanax didn't relax them when they've never touched a benzodiazepine before is lying through their teeth... don't go believing every bit of nonsense you read out there.

Anyone who decides to start taking benzos for any reason should really be seeking advice from a doctor rather than turning to the internet, shouldn't they?
Furthermore, I've certainly never heard of a recommended daily dose going up to 10 mg.

I mean, some people seem to think there's no difference between taking 10mg of Normabloc or 10mg of xanax just because they're both benzos... right?😁
