We’ve already covered quite a bit here regarding different psych meds and how they actually hit you. I was hoping someone—maybe someone with some actual experience or some solid facts—could weigh in on a specific concern of mine. I’ve been on Prozac at 20mg for about nine months now. What kind of risk am I looking at if I occasionally smoke some weed on the weekends, or maybe have a few beers every now and then?

mistyheron8 said:That would pretty much describe my situation. Over the last five years, I’ve been hit with incredibly heavy depressive episodes quite frequently. Or, if I’m being honest, I feel like I’ve just lived in a constant state of depression, anxiety, and OCD. It’s deeply rooted in my family genetics; there are plenty of us struggling, with far too many instances of suicides and hospitalizations... But honestly, I don't mind, even if it means taking antidepressants for the rest of my life, provided they actually work. It beats living half-dead. People take medication daily for diabetes, heart issues, or blood pressure without anyone batting an eye... yet somehow, everyone looks at psychotropic drugs with such intense scrutiny.🤷

I second this.👍

I’ve been on Celexa for a week now. They told me the side effects should taper off after two or three weeks, but honestly, I feel way worse now than when I first started...

Anyone else dealt with Celexa before?
And do these side effects just vanish in a day, or do they actually start getting less frequent as time goes on?
thanks

I've got an appointment with my doctor this week, so we'll see what the verdict is on Wellbutrin... honestly, after a full month, it hasn't done a thing for me, except make me feel even more desperate, like I'm stuck in a dead end, and now I'm just constantly irritable too.😢

Question: If someone starts beltng out "Don't Cry for Me USA" while riding a city bus because of their meds, is that a sign of too much therapy? Is it just a temporary adjustment period, or is it impossible to tell?

The cocktail is: 30 mg Normabel, 100 mg Faverin, half a 500 mg Esperal tablet daily, Seroxat, and Celexa 20 mg.

Yeah—my final verdict on Celexa: it’s absolute garbage.

So, I got some Xanax for when things get heavy, and honestly, I’ve had to reach for it twice now. But even then, I haven't felt any better after taking it. Maybe if I could actually stop convincing myself that everything's fine—which would help me chill out—it might work, but it's just such a fleeting thing...

Should I just hang in there and wait for something else to happen, or should I start looking into other options?

Over the last decade or so, I’ve cycled through several different antidepressants. For me, that initial adjustment period—usually spanning three to four weeks—has always been pretty brutal. It was so rough, in fact, that I used to take vacation time just to deal with the transition. I’d spend upwards of fifteen hours a day stuck in bed, feeling completely groggy and unable to handle anything remotely demanding. But then, typically after that two-week mark, things would shift significantly—I’d start to feel alive again, and my mood would end up being way better than it was before I ever started the meds. In my experience, those early side effects are definitely worth pushing through, because for me, they always vanished completely after two or three weeks at most. I've dealt with six or seven different types of antidepressants over the years, usually after taking a long break from everything.

If you got the 0.5mg Xanax, that’s basically nothing if you're actually panicking. Combining an antidepressant with something like Xanax SR is usually a much better combo, I guess... Just depends on how bad it's hitting you and what's going on?

No single pill is powerful enough to hit instantly and just fix everything, you know? Like, solve your whole life right then and there. Unless we're talking about those massive shots they give you at the hospital, lol😁

Anxiety doesn't exactly wreck me every time, and 99% of the time I can handle a panic attack on my own. But, you know, when I can't, I can't. And this Xanax? It's basically useless. It just makes me feel like absolute ☕

I want meds that actually calm me down, not stuff that leaves me even more paranoid because it isn't working and now I'm freaking out even harder!!! 😠😠

So, what, you're saying I should switch them out?

One of the most reliable things for calming down is Ativan—it's probably way better than Xanax if you just need it once in a while!

I get what you mean, but maybe try some autogenic training? Especially since your anxiety isn't super intense! It works wonders for tension and fear. If you're interested, check out Dr. Vedran Bilić over at Mayo Clinic right now! You just gotta be consistent, like, at least twice a day just for yourself. Each session with the six exercises takes about 20 or 30 mins. Might be worth a shot, I guess! 🙂

It’s pretty clear that I am totally immune to antidepressants. Everywhere I look, I read these success stories where everyone is celebrating, but for me? It feels like I’m just drinking water. There was one exception, though... Celexa. That stuff made me lose my mind.

So, what kind of reactions are we even supposed to be feeling?? 😕

(Honestly, I'm lost here... since this part is bolded... it feels the same to me.. I just assumed it was supposed to feel like this 🤷)

Hey everyone,

I started taking Zoloft at 50mg. For the first four days, I was just taking a quarter tablet, and everything seemed fine enough.
But today, I upped it to half a pill (I’m supposed to stay at this dose for five days before moving to a full pill), and honestly, I thought I was going to lose my mind.
My doctor warned me that I might feel nauseous, but she didn't mention it would be this constant.
All day long, my stomach has been churning, I'm dizzy, and I feel completely wired—like I've been overstimulated by drugs or something.
Is this actually normal when you're first starting these things?
Because this definitely isn't how I want to feel.
I can't help but wonder if my doctor just threw this prescription at me without much thought, just because it's a standard move.
The reason I'm on this is because I've been dealing with suicidal ideation over trivial things, several panic attacks, mood swings, and extreme sensory sensitivity.
I'm also still taking 0.50mg of Klonopin; they told me it acts as a mood stabilizer and helps calm me down, which is the only thing working right now after fighting this hyperactive, nauseous sensation from the Zoloft all day.

Please, I am genuinely confused here. I really don't want to become dependent on medication, but my doctor insisted we try Zoloft because it's supposedly highly effective at managing the severe PMS symptoms I deal with.

Thanks!

Has anyone here actually had any experience working with Loquen?

I haven't tried Prozac or Zyprexa myself, but hopefully someone here who actually takes them will chime in...

As for side effects, I'm pretty sure every antidepressant has them, at least at first. You just have to grit your teeth and push through the first two weeks. I'm currently on Celexa (10mg for now). It's been 13 days. Last week was an absolute nightmare... stomach knots, couldn't eat a thing, dizzy, nauseous, panic attacks, feeling totally detached from reality... I barely made it through thanks to some Xanax, and now I'm just praying the worst part is over... and that things actually get better soon...

But honestly, today isn't great either... this heatwave out here is absolutely killing me...

Does anyone know if increasing the dose makes the side effects hit even harder? 😕 If you've been there, please let me know...

thanks

hang in there😉

I’m currently on a cocktail of Lockheed, Vax, and Helix—got diagnosed with F-35.2

Honestly, I haven't really dealt with any side effects from the Lockheed side of things, just a tiny bit of weight gain. But since I managed to drop 8 pounds thanks to the depression, I guess I’ve just ended up right back where I started...

Look, if you're actually struggling with depression, the reaction is pretty damn obvious—it's getting your sleep schedule back on track, watching that constant anxiety and apathy just vanish, finally feeling actual emotions again, and having your social life feel normal... it's literally like someone lifted a hundred tons of weight off your chest that was crushing you every single day...

That is precisely what interests me, because after taking Calisthenics, I gained 5 pounds in just two weeks; if John Doe has the same effect but causes less weight gain than Calisthenics, is there any truth to that? How is your appetite?
By the way, I was prescribed it for sleep issues; I spend my days playing Star Citizen, then take John Doe before bed, but it feels strange—as if my body is settling down while my mind remains in total chaos. It is as if I am successfully sedating my physical self without ever quieting my brain, which leaves me struggling to sleep because my thoughts simply refuse to settle...🤷 how has your experience been?
