So, that puts you at 4 weeks, just like I mentioned. You always count from the first day of your last period. Fingers crossed for you—I really hope everything turns out perfectly fine.

Thanks for the kind words. 😉

Hold off on seeing the OBGYN for a bit. It’s still way too early, and even an ultrasound won't show much right now. You're better off waiting until Monday to get another beta test done to see if those levels are doubling.

I didn't head to my doctor until I was already 7 weeks along. Honestly, I don't think they even like it when people show up this early. 🤷

edit: Congrats! 😉

That’s what I kept telling myself, but honestly, I don't know—I'm not exactly the most rational person about this. I just want to be absolutely certain everything is okay, so I end up spiraling into this whole anxiety thing... which is why I wanted to go now, just to at least confirm the gestational sac is actually developing. 🤷

My advice remains the same: call your OB/GYN with your beta results. If you have two sets of numbers, they'll be able to give you a much more professional interpretation. As for an ultrasound, you have plenty of time before you hit the seven-week mark.😉
From my own experience with IVF/ET, my doctor didn't even bother with an ultrasound until I was six weeks along—basically waiting until week seven. From then on, they checked the embryo at every single appointment and monitored specifically for ectopic pregnancy through the tenth week.

Rebecca Vaughn7 said:Aaron Garcia36, here’s my take: it's totally possible your cycle is just acting up because of the flu. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. But if I were you? I’d definitely run the test again. That control line shows up regardless of how diluted your urine is; it just proves enough liquid hit the strip, it says nothing about the concentration. One piece of advice: DO NOT waste your money on Gravignost. I've found the cheaper SignTest works fine, and even the pricier IntimPlus is better. However, if you're feeling desperate—and looking at your posts, you clearly are—there is a much better way. It won't cost much more than those kits, and it's 100% accurate: go to a private lab for a blood test to check your beta hCG levels. That’s the hormone produced during pregnancy that all these tests are hunting for, but a blood test doesn't mess around. If you live in a major city, there's bound to be a private lab nearby where you can get this done. You'll usually have the results the same day or the next, and it costs around $130-$$60. In a place like New York, I’d probably head straight to Labcorp (and there are plenty of others), or maybe Quest Diagnostics in a city like Los Angeles; I can't speak for everywhere else.

Good luck, and keep us posted!😉

Just wanted to give an update: yesterday, after being five days late, I bought a test intending to take it this morning.
I woke up around 4:00 AM feeling pretty achy, and since I had to use the bathroom anyway, I decided to just do the test. Right as I was finishing, I felt this sharp cramp in my pelvic area and, naturally, started bleeding. Needless to say, the test was negative.

It seems like the flu really knocked me sideways and threw my period completely out of whack.

Hey there.
My period started on February 23rd, and nine days later, my partner finished inside me. My cycle usually runs about 30 to 31 days. Is there a chance I'm pregnant? Aside from some mild pain in my left ovary, white discharge, bloating, and needing to pee constantly, I don't have any other symptoms. 🙂

In theory, no—not if this cycle ends up being the usual 30 or 31 days, though you won't know for sure until it happens.

Today is supposed to be the big day—the day my period finally arrives—but nothing yet... 😁 I’ve been dealing with this constant stomach cramping for five days now, almost as if my body is signaling that it’s coming, and my breasts feel incredibly swollen and tender... there are also these strange spots and a darker ring forming around my areolas. Then, about three days ago, I noticed some light pink discharge. Since last month was such a massive disappointment, I’m trying to hold off on taking a pregnancy test just a little bit longer... I suppose I'm just looking for any insight or thoughts you all might have.

Go ahead and take the test if you want. I did mine right on the day my period was supposed to start—and let me tell you, that positive sign showed up loud and clear. 😁
Best of luck, either way! 😉

I’m on day 23 of my cycle, and for the last five days, I’ve been dealing with these intense abdominal cramps—honestly, they feel exactly like the ones I get right before my period starts. My husband and I have been having sex every other day since day 13, but we haven't had any internal ejaculation. I really doubt I'm pregnant, but these pains are driving me crazy. It was actually excruciating earlier today, and yesterday at work was just as bad, especially after I had to lift something heavy. Should I just wait until March 25th when my period is actually due and then take a test just to be safe?

God... I haven't seen a doctor or even bothered to buy another test. It felt like a fluke since I'm still getting my period. But after thinking I was pregnant about two and a half months ago, the thought is back. If I were pregnant, it would be five months now. Look... I'm heavy. I'm carrying an extra 65 pounds. It’s hard to tell by looking at my stomach, but I noticed something. My jeans, which used to be loose even when I was heavier, fit perfectly right now. They aren't loose at all—in fact, the button digs into me when I sit down. Like it's about to pop... 😂 And... it isn't weight gain. I'm actually getting thinner everywhere else. My legs are slimmer, but my stomach stays the same size. Then there's yesterday. I felt two distinct thumps on the left side of my abdomen. Actual kicks. I've never felt anything like that. A week ago, I started hearing these strange bubbling sounds inside. Indescribable. Like something is moving. My nipples have darkened, too. My breasts feel firmer. Even foods I used to love, like a good veggie hash, make me nauseous. I tried some tomatoes today and just felt sick. Now I'm sticking to milk, beans, and grits. It's the only thing that works. It's all very strange. Everything points toward pregnancy. My back has been aching—lower back first, then upper. The only anomaly is the period. If I skip them, I'm pregnant; if I count them, I'm not. I wouldn't bother tracking them closely because, let's face it, I'm overweight. I doubt anything about my body is normal anymore. When I was fifteen, my cycle lasted twenty-one days straight and I ended up in the hospital for four days. So... Sorry for the long vent, but I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. A friend says I need to see an OB-GYN, and I will, but I'm terrified of the stories out there—about how it might not be a baby, but just internal bleeding, or something fatal... 😕

Go see an OB-GYN... honestly, that’s the only solid advice any of us can give you... and go tomorrow, tell them it's urgent!

I don't get why you're stressing so much. If you don't trust your insurance provider, just head to a private clinic (it doesn't matter if you're already five months along)... either way, they're the only ones who can actually confirm a pregnancy and check on how things are progressing. Plus, they can set up the right follow-up exams so you're properly taken care of moving forward..

Even if you're dealing with your period right now (despite the extra weight), I'm pretty sure an abdominal ultrasound would still be able to confirm everything...

Rebecca Vaughn7, for heaven's sake, get a grip. You can absolutely have spotting during pregnancy—it’s not some unheard-of anomaly. If that’s what’s happening, both you and the baby need medical attention immediately. And if you aren't pregnant? Then clearly something is wrong and you need to see a doctor right now.

By the way, go take a test tomorrow morning. Just so you don't show up to the clinic looking completely clueless, though I know that’s asking a lot at this point.

Good luck. 😘

Hey moms, I have a question and would really appreciate some input... Basically, I’m on birth control, but I’ve been incredibly flaky with it. I miss days and then try to make up for it by taking two or three at once. I haven't been using protection because I'm relying entirely on these pills. My cycle is usually as precise as a Rolex—I take my last pill on Thursday and get my period Friday morning—but this time it didn't show up until Monday night. It wasn't a huge delay, but it was light. About a week before this happened, I felt this weird pressure in my lower abdomen, my breasts are sore 😁, and I have these splitting headaches, which is unusual since I rarely get them. I've also been running to the bathroom constantly, day and night. Now I'm wondering if this could actually be IT... I need an opinion from an experienced mom or someone who's been pregnant. Just to reiterate: I AM ON THE PILLS (even if I am inconsistent about it). Thanks

Look, if you got your period, you aren't pregnant. Period. If you're still sitting there second-guessing everything—which, honestly, I totally get because anxiety is a beast—just go grab a test from CVS or Walgreens and find out for sure. No one on this random internet forum is going to be able to tell you whether you're expecting or not, no matter how much we all want to play doctor.
Also, maybe head over to the Pregnancy sub? There are tons of threads there with people sharing basically the same experiences you're having right now.
