Look, if you think you might be pregnant, just take a test. Though—honestly—I doubt you are yet. We all go through that cycle where we get our period and immediately blame it—thinking it’s just a fluke. If you're doubting things, just get a test and know.

I figured I’d just hold off until my next period before even bothering with a test. Then we'll see. It's not like this is the first time I've let myself get my hopes up 😢 I'm honestly just dreading another disappointment.

I guess I’ve seen two instances where women thought they were just getting their period when they were actually pregnant, but the bleeding was really light and only lasted a single day. If the bleeding lasts for several days, though, then it’s probably just a regular period and there isn't a pregnancy involved.

I just wanted to jump in here and fix the thread title myself:

TAKE THE PREGNANCY TEST IF YOU THINK YOU'RE PREGNANT.

I’m definitely going through with the beta, but I’m holding off until I see if that Medium arrives in the next two weeks or so. I just wanted to scour this thread first to see if anyone else has dealt with a similar headache.

Hey there...
Here’s the short version...
I had a D&C back on May 31st, and I still haven't seen my period return...
For the last two weeks, my breasts have been aching so badly that I'm constantly thinking about booking a doctor's appointment...
I took a test today, and it came back positive...
Keep in mind, just two weeks after the procedure, my husband and I were having regular intercourse----
What are your thoughts on this...
Honestly, I'm terrified to go see the OBGYN because I can't handle another disappointment...

You really need to get to Dr. Miller ASAP for a dozen different reasons; I won't even list them all here. He's the only one who can give you actual answers. Since you aren't going to get an appointment by tomorrow morning, call him right now. Dr. Miller isn't some doctor out to disappoint you—he's there to help however he can. Honestly, the biggest mistake you could make is staying home and hiding under the covers. Just be brave and talk to him, whatever happens.

Look, let me try to offer a little bit of comfort here—I know someone who went through a tubal ligation and ended up pregnant just a month later. I’m not sure if she actually managed to conceive naturally or if there was some other factor at play, but she ended up having a perfectly healthy baby boy. 😉

There’s still hope, really... but you should probably head over to your doctor to get some bloodwork done and schedule an ultrasound once you hit that five or six-week mark. By then, you'll actually be able to see what's going on in there—assuming it's even a pregnancy to begin with. Just try not to panic. 👍

When I had to see an OB-GYN urgently for other reasons, they asked if today or tomorrow worked better for me—and frankly, even waiting two weeks wouldn't have been a disaster. But if I felt like it was a true emergency, I would have practically camped out in the waiting room until they saw me.

So, here’s the situation... I took a pregnancy test, and one line was a strikingly deep, solid blue, while the second line was incredibly faint—almost like someone had barely grazed the paper with a light pencil, just a ghostly bluish smudge. I couldn't wrap my head around it, so I ran another one first thing the next morning, and the result was identical. I honestly don't know what to make of this. Regardless, I decided to stop playing guessing games; I booked an appointment with a private specialist, and I should finally have some clarity tomorrow at 2:30 PM. In the meantime, I’m feeling absolutely miserable. I’ve been dealing with constant nausea, and every trip to the bathroom is an ordeal—not to mention the fact that I feel the urge to go every five minutes. On top of that, there's this nagging ache in my left ovary that really flares up in the late afternoon. I haven't even had any significant changes in my appetite; I could honestly survive the entire day on nothing but a single banana. Has anyone else ever dealt with something similar?

And honestly, you didn't even mention how late you actually are...🙄

If you took the test right on the day you expected your period or just a day after—look, your doctor isn't going to see anything significant yet anyway. It’s kind of pointless to rush in there immediately. Unless, of course, you're heading in specifically to get bloodwork done to check beta levels.

Just a bit of advice on the tests themselves: if you're going to stock up, don't just buy the same brand over and over. Grab a few different kinds. And don't sleep on those cheap $15 ones you find at CVS or Walgreens—they work just fine! 😉

Hi everyone—I’m actually dealing with a delay myself. My last period was around May 19th or 20th, though I can't be entirely certain of the exact date. My cycles have always been a bit irregular—even if they follow a 28-day pattern, they usually run late by a week or two, sometimes even three. This time, though, it’s been about a month. I am sexually active, but I always use protection, so... I guess pregnancy isn't likely. Last month was just a total nightmare—finals week was incredibly stressful, followed immediately by two trips, and then a sudden toothache that kept me on Advil for three days. I even had to undergo anesthesia for the dental work—which was my first time ever, by the way. I took a test this past Thursday and it was negative, yet my period still hasn't arrived. I've been trying to reach my OB-GYN, but I assume everyone is away on vacation because nobody is picking up. I even called three different local clinics in my neighborhood, but it's the same story—just ringing and ringing. I don't have any symptoms at all, really—nothing unusual. Nothing hurts, nothing feels off, my appetite is fine, and I'm not experiencing any nausea or anything. I assume I'm not pregnant, but I wonder if the stress could have caused such a long delay, especially since the exam stress is over now. Could this potentially be some kind of underlying health issue? Has anyone else gone through something similar?

At this point, we're all just guessing what it could be:
- maybe it's just stress
- maybe you are pregnant
- maybe it's PCOS or something similar
- who knows, maybe something else entirely

The best move is definitely to see an OBGYN, like you mentioned. Maybe try one of the private practices instead? Some of them are bound to be open. It might cost a bit more out of pocket, but at least you'll have peace of mind.

Have you tried taking another pregnancy test? If you're having trouble tracking down a doctor, you might as well rule out pregnancy first.

Good luck!

Well, yes—I already took a pregnancy test. That’s what I meant when I said I tested... and it was negative. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant since we used protection. I'm heading to my OB-GYN's office tomorrow in person; maybe they just aren't returning my calls, and even if she's on vacation, someone else should be covering for her.
Regarding PCOS—I haven't dealt with anything like that before. Can that actually be spotted during a standard exam? Is it possible to develop it suddenly even if I never had issues in the past—and would there be specific pain or symptoms I should be looking for?

Hey there!

I know, I totally get it—as the title suggests, the smartest move is just to go out and grab a pregnancy test, which is exactly what I plan to do in the next few days. But until then, I’d love to hear from anyone who might have some insight into whether I actually have a reason to be hopeful about a positive result 😉
.
It isn't my first time dealing with a million different symptoms, much like most of you here, even though I haven't quite officially entered the "trying to conceive" phase yet... but man, I would really love for it to happen.

However, what I’m experiencing right now is almost hard to wrap my head around.
First off, right around ovulation, I felt that familiar tightness in my abdomen and some sharp twinges in my right ovary—you know, all that classic ovulation stuff. But since then, I've been hit with this continuous cramping that feels exactly like the pain you get right before your period starts. I mean, it's that intense, heavy sensation you feel just an hour or two before everything finally lets go 🙂, and it just keeps aching and aching, making me feel like my period could start at any second, but it just won't come... and it's been going on for over a week now. Even my breasts are feeling tender, just like they do before my cycle begins. It feels like I have textbook PMS, except this "PMS" is dragging on for an unnaturally long time.

Then there's the sudden bouts of nausea I've had over the last few days... I haven't actually thrown up, but I've definitely been on the edge of it twice. Out of nowhere, this wave of nausea hits, lingers for a few hours, and then vanishes. And the weakness, too. Though, honestly, I might just be blaming that on this brutal summer heat we're having.

Oh, and my appetite has gone through the roof. It's pretty significant, too. Usually, when it's this hot out, I can barely stomach anything besides water, so this is a huge departure from my normal routine.

Has anyone else dealt with symptoms like these? I'm just so worried about being disappointed, especially since I haven't picked up a test yet... I keep thinking I'm going to start bleeding at any moment... and I suppose it feels a little sweeter to hold onto this tiny glimmer of hope for a while longer 😍 I know I'm being a bit crazy, I really do 😁

Are you running late?
You mentioned knowing when ovulation happened—so, how many days has it been since then??

Well, I’m only about a day or two behind right now, though it's a bit unusual because I don't typically experience this much discomfort for such a long stretch; normally, the aches only start maybe two or three days before my period arrives.

It’s been about two and a half weeks since ovulation occurred.

If your period is late and it’s been roughly 17 or 18 days since you ovulated, yeah, you might be feeling some symptoms.
It really varies from woman to woman, so I wouldn't use anyone else's experience as a baseline—during the month I actually got pregnant, I barely had any symptoms at all, though I did have this weird little ache deep down quite early on, but it wasn't like your typical PMS.

Anyway, I just wanted to say, since your period is late and it's been a good while since ovulation, if you are pregnant, any test should show a positive by now. (In my case, I already had a positive after 12 days post-ovulation.)

So, just to save yourself the stress, maybe go take a test now 😁 I'm crossing my fingers for you!!

I know it's all so subjective, but honestly, since I can't seem to catch a wink of sleep tonight, I've just been wandering around the internet looking for info to make sure I'm not totally losing my mind.😁

I think I'll head out to the drugstore tomorrow to pick up some tests and finally see where things stand...

Thanks so much!😉
