That’s actually why I quit making dry cookies. Everyone gives me different advice on how much time it takes, and honestly, it just started getting on my nerves. I gave up... once this slump passes, things will be fine. It has to pass.

I haven't quite made up my mind regarding the cake yet... though, I suppose I shouldn't worry too much about it... my father mentioned that we could always just pick something up at Walmart... the cost is negligible, really $20... he even went so far as to suggest that since his older daughter is getting married, we might just buy two cakes... you know, to properly treat the guests 😂

I'm hoping the baker making my cake will be willing to set it up this way.

Hey everyone... I’ve got a bit of a dilemma regarding the dessert situation for my wedding. My mom runs a small home-based baking business and does cakes and pastries for weddings from time to time, but obviously, she won't be handling mine. To be honest, we’re a bit skeptical about hiring outside caterers; we’ve sat through too many weddings where the dessert spread was just a bunch of mediocre, identical-tasting sponge cake masquerading as variety. Now, my mom makes arguably the best sweets you could ever taste, so if anyone knows a local baker who produces genuine, high-quality homemade treats that actually live up to the hype, I’m all ears. On the flip side, if anyone happens to be looking for reliable, homemade desserts from someone they can actually trust, let me know. 🙂

And just which city are we discussing here?

So, I finally sorted out the finger foods, but the cake situation is still up in the air... We’re doing a small wedding in July and I want to keep things simple. Just wondering what you guys ended up paying for yours, if you've already decided...

... Listen, ladies, if you want the absolute best way to decorate a cake, go with fondant—or whatever that fancy term is... I can never remember. If you top it with fresh flowers, you won't be charged nearly as much, and the whole thing will look just like those high-end cakes they make over in the States. Just a heads-up though: every flower needs its own little support stake. If you don't, the bottom layer turns into nothing but a sugary mess because anything touching the cream is going to wilt and ruin everything. I really wanted to try a bit of everything... *sniff*... but my mom—who, let's be honest, is quite the seasoned pro at this—convinced me of a few things 🙂

What exactly is this "ticcino" mass? And why do you think it would be cheaper to charge for? Does it actually look that good??

Ladies,

I know someone probably already asked this, and I hate being that person who repeats questions, but I honestly don't have the time to scroll through every single old thread. So, please, I need your expert advice on dry cookies.
Just looking for something dry, delicious, and tasty—ideally found in the Washington, D.C. area—with a price point under $23 per pound.🙏 Please help!

I’d personally recommend Emma over in Small Town, USA. They are $27, but seriously, they're the best ones I've ever had. Worth every penny.

That fondant looks incredible... though if I'm being honest, my husband thinks it looks totally plastic and fake!
It's only because of that fondant that wedding cakes get pushed up to $133... truthfully, even though I used to insist that a cake absolutely had to have fondant, now I'm practically stuttering over the subject...
Sure, the cake looks stunning... but it tastes like nothing!
I'm just not a fan of fondant, and honestly, even a few couples... now that they've been married for a while... are regretting choosing fondant! Guests would actually dig tunnels through the cakes just to bypass the fondant and get to the actual cake inside... so all that beauty and decoration is completely wasted when people end up sour about the flavor!

I don't know. I'm all for those fondant cakes. When I was a maid of honor, we went with one featuring fruit parfait and everyone loved it. I'll probably stick to that same choice for weddings too...😁
It's true that the cake ends up being $167 pricier just because of that icing...but hey, if you're going big, go big...😁

Look, the price tag isn't even my main concern here. I was more than willing to shell out extra if it meant getting that premium, high-quality density, but now I'm genuinely worried people are going to turn their noses up the moment they take a bite of the cake!
Maybe I just hang out with the wrong crowd... 🙄

Look, someone is always going to turn their nose up at you 🙄, even if everything is perfect. You can't please everyone. As long as you're happy with it, that’s what matters... nobody else's opinion counts anyway...👍

I completely agree with you... but you know how it goes when the whole family descends upon your house... they’re used to the classic whipped cream style, so this new approach...
I was at a christening a couple of weeks ago (and I was the proud godmother, 😁) and the menu was basically just beef broth and one creamy soup... I don't even have to tell you which one everyone gravitated toward!
With this crowd, presentation doesn't win them over. They stick to what they know and what feels familiar! Honestly, I’ve been obsessing over cake options lately, but changing the rest of the menu hasn't even crossed my mind because people are set in their ways. In both cases, it's probably smarter to just play it safe and stick to their traditions... besides, keeping the menu and desserts traditional will be much easier on my wallet than trying to get experimental with fancy ingredients and gourmet pastries! 😁

Check this out here.
Ever since we put down our deposit, we've been heading over there constantly for treats. Seriously, just go by and you'll probably score some free samples. Definitely let me know what you think, though—I'm dying to hear your take. Both our parents and grandparents have tried them, and everyone's obsessed. I don't want to sound like a walking commercial or anything, but honestly, the ladies running the place are just wonderful—super friendly and welcoming.

I can personally vouch for this. We were given half a pound of assorted treats to sample for free, and every single one was better than the last. In fact, we’re heading back there this week to place our official order.😍
