Like, what's actually in it... I am zero percent talented when it comes to baking cakes or anything sweet—it's totally not my thing (though maybe marriage will change that, who knows)—but I definitely know how to eat them.🤣

You know those cakes that have those perfectly smooth, rounded edges? Well, that’s the fondant—the "icing mass." It's basically a sugar mixture, similar to marzipan if you make it from scratch, though you can buy it pre-made, but it usually isn't as good. Those colorful cakes you see? That's just colored fondant. If you tried to dye anything else that way, it wouldn't look nearly as good—it would just look cheap. Fondant is much easier to work with; it drapes beautifully and stays super smooth.

It’s essentially a sugar paste—you can whip up a homemade version, though store-bought stuff rarely hits the same mark—but that's the secret. These colorful cakes use it too, just with added pigment. If you tried coloring any other frosting like that, it would look tacky—cheap, even. But fondant? It’s much more pliable for shaping; it drapes beautifully and stays incredibly sleek.

Thanks for the breakdown... I was asking because I'm dead set on getting that perfectly smooth finish on my own cake.👍

Joshua Clark, I'll get back to you either way 🙂
I was thinking about our cake—maybe we could do our initials on it? Think that's doable?

Come on, Joshua Clark, post a photo! (I know I’ve already done my part, but I’m honestly just enjoying looking through everything and all this post-wedding bliss hehe😉)

I was thinking—maybe we could put our initials on the cake? Is that an option?

Look, if I can get a lyric from my favorite song piped onto the frosting—and I’ve actually done this before, using "My Sweet Angel" for a wedding cake—then surely I can fit some initials on there too.
I'd love to post some photos, but honestly, they're just random snapshots right now. I didn't even take pictures of the ones I've made so far—they were eaten way too fast for me to grab my phone! 😉 So, you'll just have to bear with me for a week or two while I find a scanner or grab a decent camera.
Actually, I'll just find some similar images online and post those instead.

heheh well I actually picked some up while I was over in Germany, and I didn't stop at one, I got two! 😉 so I've got one with dark chocolate and one with white, yum. I'm pretty damn stubborn and persistent, so if I decide I want something, that's exactly how it's going to be.🙂

Quick question. Where can I grab some cookie tins? I need about 15 of them for these treats we made—we’re planning to pass them out to the neighbors and family so we don't have to deal with passing around plates and bowls... just looking for something basic, though those ribbed brown ones look pretty good.
If anyone knows where to find them, let me know.

You can pick them up at the Subway, specifically that little corner shop in the Harbor area—can't recall the name right now—but they carry just about everything for baking.

I checked the Subway but didn't see anything. To be honest, I wasn't even really looking—I just glanced while passing by. Maybe I missed the wrong shelf or something... where exactly in the Harbor? If you remember, please let me know...

I was just scrolling through their site and they even have those little decorative bows for cars—exactly what I’ve been hunting for...
Honestly, what can I even say besides thanks a million.

Zachary Gray35, I find myself somewhat perplexed by your recent findings; where on earth did you manage to track down those greasy ones? I have spent an exhaustive amount of time scouring the internet, yet they seem to evade my every search attempt 😕

They're pretty basic, honestly, but they'd be perfect for my ride. Since I don't have a massive trunk, having one or maybe two smaller mirrors hanging off the rearview would actually be pretty sweet...
