Just thought I’d share a little something to get the conversation going... I went to a birthday party this past Saturday and whipped up a cake that honestly looked more like it belonged at a wedding—you can never be too extra when it comes to baking, right?
The bottom layer was a chocolate sponge loaded with chocolate chunks, jam, bits of walnut, and raisins. Then came the middle layer: a creamy cheesecake base topped with a pudding cooked in Coca-Cola—think of it as something similar to those classic layered dessert bars you see in the Midwest. Finally, the top layer consisted of meringue sheets—basically little clouds of baked egg whites—mixed with whipped cream and crushed walnuts.
CALORIES CALORIES CALORIES!!!!
Oh, I forgot to mention—I decorated the outside with a mix of whipped cream and chocolate (it was just a birthday, after all) and some light pink butterflies since it was for a little girl. I even made some "flying" butterflies out of wire to perch right on top of the cake.
