We locked in the wine vendor at the trade show
and we're pretty stoked
for a crowd of 150 people
around $467
you can go with a thousand different flavors or just stick to one, honestly it's perfect

I spent some time at the expo checking out Magnolia Bakery (they have locations in both Naperville and Smalltown, USA). Since they're easily my favorite bakery in the Naperville area, I figured it was worth looking into their cakes and pastries... I ended up asking about a wedding cake— $0.43 designed for 250 guests. 😁

Arthur Turner17, I totally took you for everything in Vincennes.

Chocolate parfait, vanilla parfait, wild berry parfait... 163 people. That’s what we're looking at. $0.50 Absolutely delicious. :-)

By the way, I almost completely forgot to order the cake...😬 So, about three weeks out from the wedding—or maybe it was a month, I lose track—my maid of honor hits me with this question. She’s asking what kind of cake I finally picked out. Then my son pipes up and tells me I haven't actually chosen anything yet. :-)😬 😬 😍

Thanks, neongardener6
So you're saying the whole thing was just sponge cake? No biscuit base at all?
And that topping—was it frosting or what?

That was topped with glaze... and the whole thing was basically a parfait cake.... and if I remember right, there wasn't even any sponge involved... It tasted amazing... but it was light, which is what matters to me :-)

That sounds great! We still need to nail down the specific flavor and the decor. Personally, I was leaning toward a white or dark chocolate glaze—something minimal, nothing tacky, just a really, really light cake. Thanks for the suggestion; I think I’ll pitch them that exact combo, if you don't mind!
I refuse to have a cake that's basically inedible because it's too sugary. It's for a 7-month-old, so I want it to be light. I've had cakes from Vincennes before and they were actually delicious!

Yeah

Hey guys, can someone give me a heads-up on how many collages I’m gonna need if I'm catering for 150 people?

Cheers

Yeah

I don't mind at all 😍 😘

Alexander Moore3... go check the thread. Someone mentioned something about standards for everything... even for cakes. I can't remember exactly how many are required anymore. :-)

Standard serving is about 5-7 ounces per person, so do the math... personally, I'd probably aim for around 65 lbs just to be safe.

Right? We were actually planning on grabbing a 110 lb bag, but if you're saying 65 lbs covers it, maybe I'll scale back a bit—doesn't make much sense to end up with a bunch of leftover junk just sitting around.

Thanks for the heads-up! 😘

If you're thinking about putting together little gift boxes for guests, you probably shouldn't forget to factor that into your total cost. 😁

They gave us the same estimate: 30kg for about 120 to 150 people.

When you're hitting up a bakery for a big event, always ask them what they actually suggest... For my crowd of about 110 people, they told me to go with 22-25 kg of dessert, but I ended up with a ton of leftovers. My pastry chef even suggested 20 kg would have been plenty. I decided to play it safe and order extra because honestly, those few extra pounds don't break the bank, and you can just hand out the leftovers to your family and neighbors the next day anyway... In the end, nothing went to waste.
We also picked up an extra 10 kg to take home, just so my mom wouldn't have to deal with the headache of baking everything herself.

Giveaways for guests? Please. They’ll have enough food to last them all night—it's basically 😁
plenty.

I was thinking about setting out some little boxes of cookies on the table right by the exit, you know, so when guests are heading out they can just grab a few treats to go.
I’ve always thought that was such a killer idea—there is nothing better than waking up the next morning and having some delicious cookies waiting for you to snack on.🙂

That is exactly right, and I couldn't agree more with you there! We don't do any of that whole packing up food business at our house either, especially since everything we host really just revolves around the main dinner anyway!👍

What exactly counts as a chocolate shop in your book? :-)
