So, I have a question about bite-sized desserts... I tried searching online for reviews regarding Absum (), but I could only find a few scattered sentences.

Here is my question: what are their mini pastries actually like? For a price point of $18, can we expect anything beyond just dry cookies, or is there some creamy stuff too? Has anyone here tried them?

They made our shortlist because they offer those fruit tables—the setup with 10kg of sliced fruit and a small chocolate fountain is $233, while the one with 15kg of fruit and a large fountain is probably $400... or maybe $467. On top of that, we were thinking about picking up 3-4 kg of mini Napoleon cakes or maybe a few of those little cups filled with jam and cream... It’s just really convenient that they handle everything in one place.

My only real concern is: does everything taste consistent? I noticed they sell little treats at Walmart, so I’m a bit worried they might have a "factory assembly line" vibe where the flavors all taste basically the same.

Does anyone know of any other vendors who offer dessert buffets with fruit? (And I don't mean a full-scale catering service). For another wedding, some people used a Famous local confectioner from a Suburban neighborhood. The price per kg was a bit steep...$37, but honestly, I haven't found anyone who makes a better Canadian cream cake than them. They were delicious... and still great the next day, too. I buy their sweets pretty often, so I know it wasn't just a lucky one-off for that specific wedding 🙂.

I always preferred the Mus over the Absum stuff, though I'm not positive if they even carry that fruit anymore. It should be somewhere near that price point.
I picked up the cake at Walmart; highly recommend it. 👍

Terry Miller21 said:Nathan Cox25, I get that you aren't a fan of fondant, but what you're seeing in this photo is chocolate fondant, so I don't think I could achieve this specific look using plain chocolate. Honestly, the cake is just beautiful—simple and elegant.
That said, fondant can actually be quite good if it's made with white or milk chocolate instead of just being pure sugar.

This particular cake was made using modeling chocolate.😉 The flavor is totally different from fondant because you still get that rich chocolate taste; you've basically just changed the texture of the chocolate itself.🙂

Modeling chocolate can come in a white chocolate base (though unfortunately, you can't get it any whiter than that), or you can dye it any color you want—red, yellow, green, pink, purple... you name it.

I picked up one of their flyers at a trade show that mentions a "mix priced at $18." Honestly, I have no idea if that mix includes creamy treats or just the dry stuff. 🤷 To be fair, they didn't really catch my eye visually.

From what I was told, the mix has to be at least 30% dry cookies, and you can actually negotiate the specifics—you can request more of one thing or less of another.

I just wanted to warn everyone that this isn't pure chocolate.
As for modeling chocolate, it's mixed with honey or corn syrup, so it's pretty sweet...😉

I don't know how you pull it off, but this modeling chocolate we’re using tastes exactly like standard baking chocolate. The only difference is the texture—it rolls and shapes just like fondant.

Does anyone actually know anything about those treats from the Famous local confectioner? I’m talking about their M&M's style sweets. What are the cakes actually like? Taste, presentation, the whole deal... I'm curious about everything, really. 🙂

Hey... we actually decided to go with them for our desserts... we even ordered a sample box of the exact mix they do for weddings... and every single one was incredible...

Personally, I'm not a fan of apple pie or anything with extra fillers—I prefer pure creams—but I have to admit, even I loved these. Since we had friends over that night, there wasn't a single crumb left on the plates... incredibly delicious and fresh... 🙂)

I'd say they might have a high production volume, but believe me, the flavors are definitely distinct—not just the colors, but the actual taste...

Look, since you didn't get to taste them yet, my advice is to just grab half a pound of various items to try... and be convinced for yourselves. The ones closest to us absolutely blew us away... 😍

I need some help here!!

http://perfectweddingcoordinator.com...07/topper4.jpg

Does anyone know where I can find—or maybe order—some funny wedding cake toppers around here?
Besides eBay, obviously—since they won't ship to the States :/

thanks guys!

found someone selling exactly what I'm looking for—fingers crossed they still have stock left! 🙂
if not, I guess I'll just settle for one of these other options instead.

I’ve been reading and reading, and I just have to jump in here.
Now, the Absum superfans are probably going to absolutely bury me for this, but here’s my honest take... My experience with them was, frankly, pretty industrial.
Sure, they put together a decent variety, but the pastries were massive, and in at least four of them, I tasted the exact same frosting. To me, that’s 👎I thought, okay, maybe it was just a fluke, so I grabbed more—but it was even worse. The crusts were separating and they definitely weren't fresh.
You get what you pay for. If you don't care about quality and just want a spread on the table without breaking the bank, then Absum is a solid choice. 🤷
Unfortunately, I'm still hunting for good treats, hoping to find a decent balance between price and quality. My go-to used to be that little shop "sweetie," and I was totally stressed out when I found out they closed down 😢
It’s frustrating because you either find stuff for $50$20(and everything I’ve tried at that price point was bad—not because of the cost, but because you can just TELL) or you're looking at $100–$130! Does anyone know of a middle ground? Somewhere with smaller pastries (not half-meter thick slabs!!!) that actually taste good and aren't $43???
