cookies from Topolovec 👍
They’re honestly delicious—even the non-traditional wedding ones—and you don't pay until after the ceremony is over.
The price is $25 if they're served on trays, otherwise it's $23 per pound.

We picked up some treats from Smile, out by the Appalachian National Forest! Homemade cookies—absolutely delicious—$22 they go for a certain price per pound, but if you want them laid out on plates, it’s 70 bucks 😉
But I always say the same thing: just head over, grab a pound, and give them a taste. That’s how we handled it 🙂

I’m honestly so bummed out about Sweetie. I really thought at least the pastries wouldn't be an issue, something I could count on, but then I show up and—total letdown—they're closed! 🙂
I might try grabbing some treats from the Sweet Secret bakery over in Stupnik, but I'm lowkey worried their prices will be way higher than $33...🙂
After that, I'll head over to Smile and check out Topolovec! I also heard there's a new pastry shop popping up at the market in Zaprešić—does anyone know anything about their sweets? I've heard their cakes are amazing, but I have no clue about their individual pastries.

So we picked up this Black Forest cake from a local bakery near Chicago 😍 we were really aiming for something that looked simple, because honestly, the flavor was way more important to us than some fancy presentation, so we decided to play it safe 😍 I mean, we could have totally shown them pictures from Pinterest to get the aesthetic just right, and based on their previous work, I’m pretty sure they could have pulled off anything we threw at them... but instead, we just went with a classic white whipped cream topping decorated with red roses. We didn't want to mess with the flavor profile by adding anything that wouldn't fit a traditional Black Forest cake, so everything else was identical to their standard recipe, except they skipped the chocolate shavings on top and the whole thing was served on a single 🙂 For a crowd of 40 people, the total came out to $200 including all the decorations and the delivery 🙂

We picked up some things from Smile, and I can tell you right now the pastries are excellent. The pies—you know, the cream ones, the white ones, the honey varieties—aren't just those lackluster things where only the icing has any flavor; they are actually delicious and soft, with creams that truly taste like something, and those tiny, flaky crusts that look almost too perfect to eat. They have a wide variety, and quite a few of the pastries are sold by weight. As someone in the pastry industry myself, I am genuinely satisfied. They have my full recommendation.👍
As for the sweet secret, all I've heard is that their quality has taken a massive dive, but that's just hearsay, so 🤷

Ladies, quick question—what flavors are you planning for your wedding cake? I’m thinking three tiers and I want every single layer to be different, but I’m totally stuck. Right now I've got raspberry and chocolate on the table, but honestly, I have zero clue...

We’re heading in for a tasting next week—chocolate and orange parfait 😁
The client is obsessed with that flavor profile, but we don't want it hitting you over the head; the goal is just a smooth finish

One flavor is definitely going to be chocolate-orange. I love it, my fiancé loves it, and pretty much everyone I know loves it. 😍

Strawberry and vanilla is also a solid choice (it works well with chocolate too, if you don't want the whole thing to be purely chocolate).

Those are just a few of my favorites, but there are a million combinations out there, so I'm sure you'll come up with something killer.

Mine is three tiers too. My baker mentioned the first and second layers need to be "sturdier." She suggested chocolate paired with either orange cream, nuts, or berries for those bottom two, then maybe a light parfait for the top tier.
I originally wanted three distinct flavors, but the more I think about it, the more I worry it'll just taste like orange cream everywhere. Plus, if we stick to one main profile, everyone gets a taste. Orange cream seems like a safe bet for most guests.

It’s a common enough thing—just maybe too much to handle at once, so you can't really stomach it. That’s why we called it quits. At least we gave it a shot.

That’s exactly why we decided on one layer being white and dark chocolate, a second featuring fruit, and a third being a parfait—likely a mix of chocolate and fruit, probably strawberries. After all, isn't it true that once people have finished a full meal, the last thing they really want is some heavy, cloying cake that sits like a stone in their stomach?

I figured I'd combine being practical with being indulgent, so I went ahead and ordered some treats from a few different bakeries for Easter... we'll see if they're actually any good 🙂

I usually live for baking and cooking my own stuff, so I'm definitely not one to just buy sweets, but hey, whatever...

We basically combined indulgence with practicality for Christmas and grabbed a few pounds of samples 😁
Honestly, I’m losing track of what flavors we settled on—I think it might be chocolate parfait on the bottom, vanilla on the second layer, and then maybe vanilla with forest berries on the third... or something like that 😂 God, who actually remembers all this...

We ordered some stuff for a birthday recently—standard gift from the husband. Might be good for Easter, too. I'm a fan of baked goods, but I can't handle the million different kinds my sister or mom always insist on making. For instance, I whipped up some cherry strudel and a tart yesterday since some old college friends were dropping by—not exactly the vibe for an Easter spread, though.

To be honest, everything we tried from Sweet Delights tasted incredibly repetitive, almost like they were all made with the same tub of margarine. We ended up spending quite a bit of time browsing before finally settling on some treats from Tom & Nancy's... I'm crossing my fingers they turn out better. Does anyone here have any experience with them?

I was checking out some cookies and wedding cakes from Boeing. Anyone actually used them before? They look alright... I guess.
