Was this your cake—the kind of cake you’d actually want, or were you looking for something else?

Has anyone recently had the pleasure of serving Khashoggi’s pastries at a wedding? Personally, I find their sweets absolutely divine, but for heaven's sake, they simply will not send me a quote. I was actually there at an event where they were serving, yet I haven't received a single proposal; I've even picked up the phone to call them, and still—nothing but silence. I have my heart set on their Jaffa cake, Ferrero, Raffaello, and Kinder Bueno varieties. My specific vision involves providing those luscious, creamy desserts for every single table—we aren't interested in any dry, tasteless finger foods—while we source our main wedding cake from Westin, where we can pick out whatever flavor we desire.
Any experiences to share? Please, ladies, let me know what you think! 🙂

It was mine.
Looks are just a matter of taste, I guess. I wanted it to look simple—nothing too flashy or over-the-top.
The flavor? Absolutely incredible!

Bride2be - they finished the cake. I’ve had at least three weddings where this happened—honestly, just stay persistent.

Does anyone know where I can order some sweets—thinking around 30kg plus a cake? Looking for something high quality but won't break the bank... ideally somewhere near St. Louis.

Interesting point. 🙂 When I was picking out my cake, I knew exactly what flavors I wanted first; the design was just something we figured out later. At the end of the day, nobody is going to rave about a pretty cake if it tastes bad. 😬

People were bringing up Vincek cakes in that other thread about restaurants. I tried one of their birthday parfait cakes recently—honestly, it was nothing to write home about. Way too greasy, and you could barely even taste the chocolate. We had a homemade cake on the side, and man, it was night and day compared to the Vincek version. A little disappointing, really—I used to actually enjoy their stuff back in the day.

So, does anyone actually know how they calculate cake prices? I’m assuming it’s per person, or is there some other way they do it?
Is anyone here grabbing stuff from Abraham?
And do local bakeries ever offer any kind of discounts?

Pricing is usually per head. They told me the ones with whipped cream topping go for $3.25/slice, while the ones with fondant are $4.00/slice.

I tried some treats from Abraham once and they were honestly terrible 😢 I actually loved the pastries at Microsoft and Victoria’s bakery back in San Francisco. They had amazing cakes.

My sister got married last year and used them for her cake and pastries.
She got some treats for the guests and handed them out as people were leaving; everyone loved them and kept asking where she got them. I have a massive sweet tooth, and these were honestly great. The cake was good too, especially the "iced wind" flavor, though she wasn't thrilled with the look since it didn't quite match the design they discussed. If I remember right, you can pick up their pastries at Walmart, so maybe just grab some there and see. I heard they’ll be at the fair at Madison Square Garden soon, too.

Prices are a bit higher in Chicago. Back home, a slice of cake used to run about $4.00—and I heard one lady even drove all the way to $10 just to get hers.

True. I used to be obsessed with Abraham's pastries, but the last batch I tried was a total disaster 😠 I sampled five or six different kinds and they all tasted exactly the same. Honestly? I wouldn't risk that happening at my wedding 🙂

Maybe they just went bad... she had them back in August last year, so I'm not sure when you actually tried them? I think I'll just get the cake and cookies from Emma in Small Town, USA. The cake isn't even more expensive than usual, and while the cookies are a bit pricey, they're actually unique—each one has its own flavor. Everyone who’s had them is usually impressed, and you can tell by the smell of the shop that they aren't cutting corners on ingredients.
My wedding is pretty small, so I won't need a massive amount. I guess 10 pounds might be overkill for 30 people. If there's anything left over, I'll just eat it the next day. 🙂

Well, I tried them about 10 days ago, and I was pretty disappointed.😠
For my own wedding, I went with Microsoft Bakery, and I'm heading there in a month to finalize all the details.

So, what kind of prices are we talking about over at Microsoft?

Wedding cookies usually run about $22/lb. You can actually work out a deal where they arrange them on their own trays and deliver everything straight to the venue—then you just drop the trays back off after the wedding. Or, if you want to save a bit, you can get them in boxes and set up the platters yourself at the hall.

As for the cake, it really comes down to whether you want whipped cream frosting or fondant. The whipped cream slices go for $3.25/slice, while the fondant ones will be closer to $4.00/slice.

If you're near San Francisco, there's a bakery down at the local farmer's market where you can grab some samples first.

vividgardener7 said:Hey guys, does anyone know where I can find some decent cake toppers? I’m looking for something relatively simple and romantic, but nothing that breaks the bank... I've been browsing eBay, but everything seems to be way over $33. I was really hoping to spend a bit less on this part of things. Or am I just being unrealistic—is that kind of price actually standard for stuff like this??

most of them are ceramic, which makes them

I actually paid for mine out of my own pocket $9.25 plus the tax 😉

Honestly, it’s nonsense to say everything in the city is more expensive. It’s just those overpriced boutique bakeries inflating their margins. Everywhere else we checked in the metro area, the price for a single slice was a standard $4.00.

There are a few others out there just hiking up their prices—honestly, I can't even remember their names anymore. I used to keep a running list of all their rates in my planner, but that was ages ago.

Thanks! Though I actually managed to snag some for about $6.00 each over in Carmel-by-the-Sea—I was browsing at Repair and just spotted them there.
Keep in mind they're about 8 inches tall...🙂
They're honestly so cute...
