Is that Monica from that Sweet Treat bakery in Small Town USA? Thanks, I'll definitely do some digging online to find her info.😉

I mean, is their business model even functional?
Did you actually try calling them—or reach out in any way at all?

Monica is indeed from the suburbs—her cakes and pastries are actually pretty legit. Just checked their site and found our favorite cake. 😍

Taylor Jackson59 said:Honestly, the absolute worst part of any wedding is the dessert spread. Like, 90% of the guests won't even touch them.🙂 But you’re stuck ordering them because apparently, it's just "tradition" or whatever... I hate it.😁

If it were up to my husband, he’d scrap the whole dessert table entirely, but I can already see the judgmental looks from the older relatives on the guest list.🤣

So, realistically, what’s the bare minimum number of pastries you need per table to keep everyone happy?

When I attended a wedding out in the rural Midwest, I was actually shocked to find there wasn't a single dessert on the table. They didn't bring out anything until the cake arrived, which honestly didn't bother me one bit, though it would have been lovely to have a few little treats to nibble on throughout the night.

Our spread was honestly just incredible 😁 both the cookies and the cake were absolutely phenomenal, all sourced from a little Sweet Treat - Small Town USA bakery. The owner there was such a sweetheart too, incredibly easygoing about all the logistics and making sure everything was set up exactly how we needed it. In the end, both the presentation and the actual flavor were just spot on!

I spotted someone at Walmart yesterday buying huge bags of dried cookies for $13. Honestly, if you're looking to save a few bucks on 😉, it might be worth checking out. I’ve tried some of their other stuff before and it wasn't half bad, though I have no clue about these specific ones.

We finally pulled the trigger on getting a dessert table for 😍. I think we're leaning towards using Catering Bell. Has anyone here actually used them? What was your experience like?

Small Town USA off 😁 honestly, Walmart is a goldmine 😁 if you aren't trying to lose weight, because I'd be buying them every single day😁

I’ve gotta give a massive shoutout to Amelia’s bakery over in Washington, D.C.—they handled all our wedding cakes! The owner is seriously the sweetest person ever; everything was super easy to coordinate and happened so fast. They even handled the delivery straight to the venue, working directly with the restaurant manager so we didn't have to stress about a single thing amidst all the wedding chaos.
Anyone who’s had their treats knows they are top-tier. Our guests were absolutely obsessed with the dessert spread—we did a sweet table with about 15 different types of cakes and pies!

Also, a huge recommendation and high five to Bad Duck for the amazing pies and tarts. Everything was done so professionally, and honestly? Those pies were out of this world.

Unbeatable cookies... but seriously... I'm telling everyone I know to just make them at home...

If anyone’s come across some similar cake toppers or knows a baker who actually makes the weird stuff, let me know... they’ve gotta be hilarious, because honestly, if they aren't funny, I'm not even bothering putting them on the cake 😛

Does anyone have experience bringing cookies across the border into Canada after July 1st? I’m planning to pick some up from a reputable factory that holds a certification—I assume that should make things smooth without needing extra paperwork—but I also know the older guests might want to whip up their own cakes or pastries. Do you think they'll let those cookies through the border into Canada?

..In my experience, you could probably sneak a corpse into Canada and nobody would even blink... getting things *out* of there is a whole different story. 🙂

..I can personally vouch for BOSO's pastries and cakes... they were absolutely delicious, looked stunning, and we didn't have a single scrap left over after the wedding—not mine, not my brother-in-law's, and not my maid of honor's either... 👍

So, here’s my take on where to get decent cakes and pastries.

Basically, since I was hunting for sweets that actually taste good without breaking the bank, I ended up finding this gem in Indianapolis at the Sweet Shop (http://pizzeriamrak.com/slasticarna.html). The pastries are amazing—even if their website looks like it’s from the Stone Age—they have that real homemade vibe. We paid about $20/lb, and for a wedding cake, we only shelled out around $333 (everywhere else wanted like $833 for the exact same thing with buttercream). I guess we were probably one of those rare wedding couples where guests basically inhaled all the dessert... 🙂 On top of that, nobody else would even help set up a dessert table unless I dropped $300 or more on them, but these guys did it for free and even delivered everything to the venue at no charge. Even the pickiest eaters I know were obsessed with the cake and the treats. So yeah, just wanted to give a shout-out to the Sweet Shop and Tomislav, who killed it with the desserts.

I need some advice on dessert portions. Based on what you guys have seen, how many ounces of sweets should I budget per person for a buffet? I’ve been digging around online and found conflicting numbers—some say 10 ounces, others say 5. Given what I'm charging for this spread, I'm looking at about three bites per person... basically three pieces each. Is that way too stingy, or am I just overthinking it?

I’d say the standard is about 5 to 10 ounces per person if the desserts are just sitting there on the table all night. Since this is a buffet, they'll probably serve them after the main course. Three pieces sounds low to me, too. But honestly, people tend to eat less when they actually have to get up and walk over to grab something 😁

Dessert update: the catering from the Ritz-Carlton was absolutely killer.🙂
We had two massive dessert stations loaded with mousses, pastries, and fresh fruit—the presentation was stunning, and honestly, those mousses were the star of the show.😁(It was hilarious watching some of the older ladies practically scrap with each other over the last bit of mousse while the DJ was playing.🤣)
Since we ordered way more than we actually needed, my coworkers and buddies have been snacking on them all week.🙂
If you need sweets, go to the Ritz. Seriously. Our guests haven't stopped raving about how good everything was.🙏

The cakes: We got three specialty cakes from Magnolia Bakery (black and white cherry parfait, chocolate truffle, and vanilla fruit parfait). They were elegant, light, airy, and just perfect.👍

We had about 30 pounds of dessert for 114 guests at our wedding, and there was barely anything left over. Usually, there's enough left to hand out to people on their way out, but this time we barely had scraps. Honestly, once people started digging in, I thought we were gonna run out completely. I guess it really just depends on if the food is actually good, how big the individual portions are, and whatever else is going on with your catering setup.

For those who’ve gone with custom built-in desks—was it actually worth the cash, and what kind of price range are we looking at? 🙂
