Honestly, the absolute worst part of any wedding is the dessert spread. Like, 90% of the guests won't even touch them.🙂 But you’re stuck ordering them because apparently, it's just "tradition" or whatever... I hate it.😁

If it were up to my husband, he’d scrap the whole dessert table entirely, but I can already see the judgmental looks from the older relatives on the guest list.🤣

So, realistically, what’s the bare minimum number of pastries you need per table to keep everyone happy?

I’ve always loved the vibe out in the Midwest—there’s just something about those big dessert spreads where you can grab whatever looks good whenever you want.

I might have a fix for you; just set up a dessert station—like one dedicated table just for treats—that way people eat less of them. We’re hosting 150 people and we're planning on maybe 16 lbs of sweets max! If you put them on every single table, they told me you have to order way more. Last year my sister-in-law got married and she had over two-thirds of the desserts left over, and I think she was counting about 5 ounces per person. Hope that helps. Also, if you really don't want them, I heard skipping dessert is actually "in" now. A friend of mine went to a wedding where they didn't have any sweets at all!🙂

Hey, can anyone help me out here?
Where on earth did you order that cake from?

If you're asking me, I'll probably just grab mine from that pizzeria called Darkness over in Columbus (http://pizzeriamrak.com/slaticarna.html). Their website is kind of a mess, I guess, but their desserts are seriously amazing—like, none of that weird margarine aftertaste you get in cheap cakes. Plus, you can pretty much negotiate the price by the pound $20, so it seems worth it. We're heading there tomorrow to finalize all our wedding stuff.🙂

Hey everyone. We had our wedding at the end of April. We ordered all our pastries and the cake from Smith’s Bakery. We also tried out a few others:
Kašnar—way too artificial and greasy
Tom and Ana—some treats were great, but others felt overly heavy on the margarine
Cukeraj—ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, just way too pricey.
Smith’s Bakery really offers the best value for the money. The pastries are delicious and they look beautiful, which does matter. My only real gripe is that they didn't strictly follow our flavor list. We provided a specific list, but they clearly missed it. About 85% was what we asked for, but they left out two or three varieties we wanted and swapped them for things we didn't request. Overall, though, everything was lovely. Our cake was a Frozen Wind style... everyone raved about it, and we loved it too.

How far out should I book a baker for the wedding cake? Is it the same timeline as everything else...

Some people told me a month out, others said two months, but honestly? Just give them a call maybe six months ahead of time to see what they say. That’s basically what I did.

In our experience, we touched base with ours about two or three weeks out from the big day.

Look, since our dessert plans have gone completely off the rails, I need to do some damage control. The wedding is only a month away...

A few years back, I tried the treats from Emma and the Gingerbread man, and based on what I've heard, Hearty seems like a decent option too...

Ugh, now I actually have to get to work on this—fingers crossed it isn't too late...

I was planning on roughly 12 kg of sweets for 65 guests.
Does that sound about right?

That amount should be plenty for a whole restaurant. You grabbing cookies for the house too, or what?

I don't have any reception at my place. My plan is to head out to the service with my family, he’ll show up with his crowd, and then we’ll all just hit a restaurant together. I guess if it were for the house or maybe some neighbors, it might work—but honestly, that sounds more like something Mom would organize. So, what we're looking at here is just for the reception hall and a few small gift boxes to hand out to parents and the godparents.

That’s plenty. We ordered about five ounces per person at the restaurant, and we still ended up with a mountain of cookies left over.😉

Has anyone ever ordered a cake from that bakery over on Main Street? Their pastries are actually decent, so I’m thinking about grabbing a whole cake from them for an event.

we went with 16 kg for 150 people, and we’re doing a single dessert table instead of putting them on every individual table.

How far in advance should we actually order the desserts? Or more accurately... how early do we need to get them on the books?

That's exactly what we did...we've got a dessert station and a fruit station...we grabbed all our treats from the Smile bakery out in Yellowstone...we already locked in the cakes and the dessert spread for this Saturday, and the wedding is September 21st...we sampled the sweets and they are seriously bomb, so I'm sure the cake will be killer too...for 130 guests, we ordered 14 kilos of treats, but honestly, we might scale back because I just don't think people can eat that much...also, we only ordered cake for 100 people...because the pastry slices from the bakery are way bigger than the ones they serve at restaurants, or at least that's what the lady at Smile and the restaurant staff both told us...

Has anyone here actually tried one of those cupcake towers? I’ve been looking everywhere for them—seriously, I can't find a single decent option—and I'm dying to know what kind of damage they actually do to your wallet...

Quite a few women here have ordered cupcakes from Sweet Treat before. About two or three years back, I think they were roughly $4.00 per piece. I can't recall if anyone’s grabbed some lately, but as far as I remember, everyone was perfectly happy with Sweet Treat.
