We’re actually getting ours from Absum. I have four different friends living in different parts of the US who all used them, and they didn't run into a single issue—not with the delivery, not with the scheduling, nothing.
The cake gets delivered straight to the restaurant on the actual wedding day, and it’s the same deal for any pastries being served at the venue. If you're ordering treats to take home, though, they can drop them off either the day before or the day of—whatever works best for your schedule—at your local grocery store.
Like I mentioned, my friends had zero complaints; they were all super happy with everything, and honestly, the sweets are delicious.
The only thing that really rubbed me the wrong way at the expo was when that lady there told me it would be at least $20 per person... it felt like she wasn't even interested in giving clients the full picture, just more focused on moving as much product as possible.

The guy told me everyone should get about 20 grams, too. I guess we'll just have to wait for Thomas Wilson16 to give us her verdict once she finally tries the cake...

The idea of 20 ounces per person is actually accurate; that’s just the standard norm everywhere. That’s how my friends and I always used to do it.

So, how many sweets are left over?
I actually heard that about a pound per table of ten people is plenty! And I got that tip straight from the owner of the catering company, so... you know, an actual expert.
Maybe around 10 to 15 ounces? There's no way I'm ordering more than that because I really don't want to end up throwing anything away.

Well, looks like I'm officially joining the ranks of the "engaged and overwhelmed" club! 😉
Our big day is set for next August, and we actually hit up that massive wedding expo at the Madison Square Garden arena recently. Honestly? We totally fell in love with the treats from Absum and Simic... they were just too good.
The stuff from Absum is $22/lb—seriously delicious. They charge about $67 for delivery out here to New York City, and they can drop them off whenever they make their rounds to places like Target or Walmart. They deliver everything in neat little boxes, but if you want them to go through the extra effort of plating everything on trays for you, they’ll charge an extra $1.75 per tray. You can basically negotiate anything with them, though; they're such sweet people.
Then there's Simic at $27/lb (and hey, free delivery!). Their sweets come in those cute little clear individual containers. I was really impressed with how they look—everything is perfectly sliced and just looks high-end.
I'm still curious about Andrew, though. We definitely need to swing by their shop sometime to check them out personally...

So, we finally sat down today to finalize all the details for the desserts and the cake, and I guess we ended up going with Andrew just because their pastries are honestly incredible and everything else was just spot on 🙂 We actually got to sample the cake too, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious 🙂

Alright, here’s my update 🙂
We stopped by Absum today. They wanted us to taste their cream cakes since we picked up that wedding dessert spread at the Arena last week—which, by the way, passed our inspection with flying colors. We tried the Ice Wind, the Ferrero Rocher, the nougat cake, and the triple chocolate. Personally, I was obsessed with the nougat cake; it was so rich I almost couldn't breathe, but it wasn't overly heavy 😁. My partner is the resident expert on the Ice Wind and he loved it (I liked it too, but I was totally won over by the chocolate). The Ferrero Rocher and the triple chocolate were both executed really well, but they just aren't quite my style. That triple chocolate has this hint of orange that reminds me a bit of Jaffa cakes.
So, we went ahead and booked them. We’re going to do their dessert station (using the cakes from the wedding mix, those little cups, and the fruit baskets) plus a cake. Our plan is to go with a "dummy" cake setup where only the top tier is an actual Ice Wind cake for our table and the parents' table. For everyone else, we'll serve the assorted cream cakes (we're definitely doing Ice Wind and nougat, but we still need to come up with two more flavors).
Hopefully, this helps someone out, since you all were such a huge help to me 🙂

Man, I definitely need to go back and try more of those cookies from them... they were killer. Does anyone know what the damage is gonna be? Like, what are we looking at for prices?
Just wanted to add a little more to my last post... oh yeah, that cake from Absum. $3.25 Sandwiches (and hey, they told me to add an extra 10% to the guest count just to be safe when ordering the cake amount) ... oh, and I'm getting everything from Simic's. $2.75 I mean, I’m thinking maybe around $1.50 per inch for the stitching.
They told me to plan for about 8 ounces of sweets per person.

I mean, I’ve actually factored the desserts right into the price per chair... if I recall correctly, they mentioned the standard weight was around 150 lbs or something, so we’re planning on providing some treats for the guests within that same cost 🙂 you guys should definitely go try them, though; you still have plenty of time to make a final call...

Look, if you're asking if two kilos of dessert is enough for ten people, the only person telling you otherwise is someone trying to squeeze extra cash out of you. Honestly, a kilo is plenty, and you’ll probably even have some left over ☕

First of all, everything depends on local traditions. In America, it is customary to share sweets and treats with close family after the wedding. If I recall correctly, a good rule of thumb is to prepare at least one pound per six guests, plus additional cakes.
Secondly, it really comes down to your guest list, though that is often hard to predict. For instance, my cousin opted for about 25% more cake than what was recommended, and nearly everything was eaten.

We actually had very little left over, so we just split it among our closest family to take home—it was perfect! We didn't overdo it, and looking at all our numbers, we definitely weren't trying to be cheap. I guess it just depends on the guests and the local area how much dessert people end up eating...

Of course. Every part of the country has its own local customs and specific amounts, so everyone just does things their own way🙂

I’m asking again just in case 🙂 anyone here actually love sweets? I need some solid recommendations for cakes and pastries—the only place I've tried so far was this little bakery in rural Ohio, and let's just say it wasn't exactly a culinary breakthrough.. help me out 🙂

Heyyy! I need a little help here. Does anyone know where I can find someone who makes those amazing Middle Eastern style desserts... you know, like baklava, date pastries, and all that good stuff? I'm really looking to skip the standard wedding fare (like those typical cookies and finger sandwiches) and try something different.
Thanks so much! 😍

Can I get some advice from ladies who have ordered or are planning to order cakes from IBM, but don't live near Indianapolis?
Did you guys go in for a tasting, how did you handle the logistics/planning, and were you actually happy with the results? I'm feeling a bit hesitant about making the trip out to Indianapolis if I'm not going to get anything else done while I'm there.

I met them at a trade show a couple months ago and got the scoop then—haven't actually pulled the trigger yet, so I don't know if they're worth it, but I'm hoping they are 🤣)
they usually ship their stuff to Walmart (at least in my area), so maybe just hit them up and see if they deliver to a Walmart near you. might solve that whole tasting issue...
