Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Do you know if it's possible to order something like 20 pieces delivered to your door, or would I have to go there in person? Honestly, they can be single-use; I just don't want that cheap, flimsy plastic you find in those bulk snack assortments at a gas station.

We’re sticking with "Kashner" pastries, whereas they’re stacking their cookies on these little three-tiered stands... and frankly, I think it looks terrible.

Does anyone happen to know what French macarons usually go for out here in the Midwest? 😍

Prices vary all over the place, like from $5 up to $2.75, I know at a bakery in Indianapolis $2.75 they're about a certain amount, but then at a sweet shop in Chicago $1.75 they go for a different price—usually they just sell them by the piece, but if you want to buy them by the pound, just ask if they'll do that!!—hope that helps a little!

Hey ladies, I need some help picking out treats! Should I go with Simic or Andric for cookies and cake? I actually had Simic at a wedding last year and they were seriously delicious—super clean slices too, $27/kg. I haven't tried Andric yet, but I've seen so many glowing reviews for them here, especially since they're $24/kg for a dozen different varieties. Now I'm just totally stuck and can't decide which way to go... :-(

I just heard back from Amelia—they’re charging $37 per pound.
So, help me out here—is that overkill? I don't know the first thing about bakery pricing, so I figured I'd run it by you guys...

I am absolutely obsessed with their cakes, but what I'm actually looking for is a dessert buffet.
We're expecting about 90 guests at the wedding.

Hey ladies, does anyone have good dessert recommendations around Indianapolis?

Hey everyone, I am desperately seeking some advice here...
I’m planning a wedding with about 170 guests, and it has left me wondering: how many pounds of dessert should I actually order?
(Honestly, I don't have the slightest clue how to calculate this) 😕

Just to clarify, we aren't doing plated desserts; we're setting up a full-on dessert buffet style instead...

THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

cosmiclynx18 who on earth is making your desserts? For stuff like this, you really need to pick a professional pastry chef's brain. They’re the experts—they actually know how much weight per guest you need to account for. If you're planning on having several large cakes, then you don't even need nearly this many of those little bite-sized treats just to fill up the dessert table. But, if you're planning on packaging them up as party favors for guests to take home, make sure you set those aside separately so you can keep an actual headcount of what goes where. Talk to your inner circle, honestly, if you haven't already. People have been around the block; they definitely know which guests are going to inhale everything in sight and who actually has a sweet tooth 😁
We actually have one of our final meetings with our pastry chef next week. I can probably ask them specifically about the best portions per person, assuming it isn't too late for you to wait until Tuesday 😉

They told me the standard was about 5 to 9 ounces of cake per person. We went with just over 5 ounces and still had plenty left over.

I was honestly so annoyed with the pastry chef. I knew—and I still know—that what Daniel Smith8 is saying is spot on; you really only need about a pound per person at most (I personally budgeted for just under a pound each), but when I went to ask her directly, she had the nerve to tell me: "It can't be any less than three pounds!" It felt a little shady, honestly. Look, I get it, her job is to move product and make a buck, but doing it like that? Just tacky.
Jessica Jackson13, if you're doing a dessert table, you aren't putting every single little treat out on display all at once, so you'll actually need less. You have to factor in that not everyone is going to get up and grab sweets during the dinner... everyone says that, based on experience...

@Lawrence Doyle5 look, we’ve already got the dessert menu locked in. It really just comes down to the final headcount, but honestly, I’m not sweating it—we’re going to have this whole spread laid out on the dessert table looking pretty sharp. Roughly like this:

The only thing left is figuring out how many cakes we actually need. As for the flavors? That’s going to be a headache because everything looks so good, it's hard to narrow down which ones to pick 😍

Look, I asked about this too because I wanted to see what the expert would say, even though I pretty much already knew the answer—my mom used to bake professionally back in the day, so I know the drill. She confirmed that 15 ounces is the actual max. For me, that kind of info was actually a huge plus; it proves they aren't just trying to cram extra stuff in just to hike up the sales price.🙂

Hey ladies, just wanted to circle back on this one 🙂

Does anyone know of any dessert table specialists around the Midwest who do those cute little spreads—you know, muffins, cake pops, macarons, gingerbread, and all that good stuff?
Ideally, I'm looking for someone near Indianapolis, Savannah, Memphis, Akron, Stockton, or maybe Mobile...

I know a place called Salt in Indy, but honestly, their macarons weren't really my thing when I tried them at that wedding expo. 😢

I feel like someone already brought this up, but just so I don't look like an idiot, let me double-check: do we actually need a food safety certificate for the community center too... or whatever the official term for those cookie inspections is...

themalosunce So, I was just chatting with our local baker 🙂 . She’s honestly such a sweetheart, and man, she really knows her stuff when it comes to making dessert fantasies out of cakes and pastries. Anyway, she gave me this bit of advice—don't go overboard with the sweets. She reckons about 10-15 ounces per person is plenty. If you look at it in terms of actual pieces, we're talking maybe 4 or 5 servings per person. You've got to think about how guests actually behave; they'll want to try a little bit of everything, tasting different types of cake. Why end up with a mountain of leftover pastries sitting there untouched? You might as well take that extra cash and spend it on something else instead.

Can someone please talk some sense into me? I was just told today that restaurants aren't even allowed to serve homemade cookies anymore—apparently, everything has to have some official government certification now... Like, seriously? Does this mean my own mom isn't even allowed to bake cookies for a local diner anymore? It’s getting ridiculous...

Seriously? I’ve heard the whispers floating around, but I had no clue it was actually becoming official law. 🤷 Honestly, it makes me wonder who on earth is actually going to be responsible for policing all of this.
