Vineland... you can order a cake a whole month in advance if you want. That’s basically me—I totally forgot about the cake until it was too late. :-)

So, I’ve been lurking here for a long time, just reading everything you guys post, but I finally decided to jump in and join the conversation 🙂 I was wondering if anyone here has actually tried those mini treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes? Sorry if this has already been covered a million times before...

Never had them on their own, but I grabbed some recently at a party. They were a mix of Meli and Piece of Cake... honestly delicious, but I feel like they're priced pretty much the same as Meli. Such a bummer.

I was actually planning on picking up some sweets the other day just to treat myself—but then I heard they were absolutely abysmal, so I backed off. Might give them another shot eventually, though.😬 Honestly, you’re better off going there in person to grab a sample first😉—that’s what I’d do, at least—since everyone’s palate is different.

Oh, I definitely did. I actually picked up a little sampler box last time and honestly? They were incredible. But now I’m overthinking it—I can't help it. I'm wondering if they still hold up that well when you're cranking out massive batches for something huge like a wedding. I heard some horror story from someone about a catering disaster, and now I'm paranoid...

If I could jump in here, I’ve actually used "The Little Cookie House" before, and I think their cakes and pastries are really wonderful. You can find their address and phone number in that "wedding guide" booklet—🙏it's available for free at most newsstands owned by The New York Times Company.

Finally, someone else besides me thinks this little cookie shop is actually good...🤣
From what I've seen, they definitely earned it...😍

Look, I have to be real here—at my place, I’m grabbing the wedding cake and maybe a few cookies just for us at home, but for the reception itself? I actually asked my relatives and friends to each chip in with one single appetizer... by the time everyone shows up, there'll be plenty of food for the hall, but I’m definitely not sharing the leftovers from home... 😬

Honestly, that’s easily the smartest way to handle it.👍

So😲 😲 I have to tell you guys about this scene yesterday at Orient... My sister and I headed over to Line (where they definitely don't have any dresses on sale, by the way) and we swung by Orient on the way. I figured, why not ask how much a cake for 280-300 people would run? We walk in, I ask one of the young guys working there, and he just shrugs like he has no clue. Then this older lady walks up—I'm assuming she’s the owner or something—and asks what kind we're looking for. I told her just a standard round cake, maybe four tiers, completely covered in chocolate glaze. She looks me dead in the eye and says around $2000😲 😲 😲 😲. I was like, you've gotta be kidding me, right?😕 But nope, she didn't blink. Honestly, I just went with it—no one has ever quoted me more than $1000 even at the fancy bakeries downtown. My sister and I just laughed and walked out... Can you actually believe that? Is there actual gold leaf on these things or what? It's insane. Looking back, I almost feel bad for not asking her why their cakes are supposedly so "special" compared to everyone else... I'd love to hear her take, because while the sweets are decent, they aren't exactly the best in town. Anyway, it's pretty much what peach recently wrote about them 👎 👎 👎

Honestly, they’ve completely lost their minds.😕 😕 😠
I mean, who in their right mind would drop $2000 on a single cake? It’s just beyond ridiculous, really. Even if it happens to be the most incredible thing you've ever tasted... it still doesn't make sense!

I nearly fell flat on my face when I realized just how much these desserts actually cost.
Here’s how the math breaks down for a crowd of about 300: we need roughly 220 lbs of dessert—enough for the restaurant catering, gift boxes, and keeping some at home for me and him—which comes out to about $2167. Then there's the cake for 130 guests at the venue, adding another $567 to the tab... That brings the grand total to $2733😲
It’s a good thing the old folks stepped up to foot the bill, otherwise 😉

I’m looking at 300 people, cookies, and cake $2500, plus a five-tier cake—stacked directly on top of each other, no spacers

For my crowd of 300, we have a four-tier cake—no supports, just stacked—plus a side cake if that one doesn't cut it. But the best part? It costs me absolutely nothing. I just have to pick up some fondant and whatever decorations I want, because my mom's friend is baking all the desserts and cakes for free.

In our neck of the woods, there's this tradition where people bring a gift basket. Almost every family invited to a wedding brings ingredients for the desserts (margarine, pudding mixes, cornstarch, walnuts...) worth $67 or even more; the godparents usually chip in much more. If someone doesn't want to shop, they just contribute cash for the basket, and then whatever is missing gets bought at the end.

When my sister had her big day, the desserts for those 300 people didn't cost a dime either; we only ran out of a few sticks of margarine for the filling on the very last day, so my dad rushed out to grab them.🙂

Snupy, do you have the number for that bakery in Kansas City? I’m not based in NYC, but I'm close enough to KC to give them a call and see if I can work something out. Honestly, I just don't want some random lady from the neighborhood baking my treats. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Just shoot me the number via DM.

Where are you planning to find that fondant? I'm looking to grab some myself, but I haven't a clue where to start searching.🤣

Where on earth are you planning to pick up that Ticino dough? I’ve been dying to get my hands on some, but I haven't a clue where to look.🤣

I have a catalog from Mašnice-misl... they're located over in gornji Stupnik, near that Target. You can just order it through the mail if you want. If you'd like, I can send you their phone number. I've actually placed orders with them before... though you could always just drive down there in person.🙂
