Yeah, I’ve heard nothing but good things about them—they're supposed to be amazing!
And man, those pastries? Absolutely divine.

Exactly! $17/lb. I didn't ask about cakes since ours is already included in the catering package.
Just to give you guys a little comparison, we went to Emma's and the Little Cookie House this past Saturday. Honestly, the pastries at all three shops are delicious. My only hesitation with Emma's is that they have a lot of heavy, creamy desserts, and I’m a bit worried about how that might hold up at a wedding when the weather is already pretty warm—it just doesn't look great once it starts melting. But we definitely told them they're our top choice for any other parties we host down the road.
The Little Cookie House makes seriously amazing Canadian cream cakes (one of my absolute favorites), but the lady there mentioned she’s bumping up her prices per pound starting around Easter, so we ended up deciding on Stubica instead.

honestly, I’m not even surprised they’re hiking prices at a small local shop like that... I was wondering when they’d finally pull the trigger on it.

They can easily tailor the dessert menu to the season. If it's going to be hot, they simply won't do the heavy, cream-based stuff; right now, they focus on those because it's cold out and that's what people want. Plus, you have the freedom to pick the exact sweets you want. Personally, I'm a huge fan of their chocolate fudge brownies—they're incredible.🙂

Sarah Moore2 said:My cake—and honestly all the pastries from Sacramento—is this "Castle" creation. It’s basically eight cakes combined to feed my crowd of 180, and $600 is... well, you know. Did you catch their flyer? That cake is right there on the front cover...
Anyway, the sweets are solid, and word is they've got the best prices in the US...
Yeah, I saw the flyer. That cake looks absolutely insane!

Hey, folks from the Indianapolis area...
you seriously need to check out the wedding cakes over at Crown...
I was honestly blown away, so I'm definitely going to give their head pastry chef a call to get everything sorted out

Alright you geniuses, help me out like you always do. How many cakes do I actually need for 120 people if there’s no formal reception at her place or his? It's just a standalone party. 👋

Benjamin, we ended up getting about 200 servings of sweets and a massive tiered cake for roughly 150 guests.

We’ve got about 40 people coming to the wedding, which, if you ask me, is actually the perfect number for a celebration like this. $133 Teenage birthday cake? Honestly, we can make absolutely whatever we want, so let's just go for it. It’s going to be great. $3.25 Personally, I feel like that’s pretty much the standard price you'll see most of the time, though I suppose it could vary depending on who you ask, but at least from what I've been reading on the forums lately, that seems to be the consensus.🙂

But honestly, I wouldn't bother making a cake for every single guest; I'd just go for something smaller, maybe three tiers...
If you have their catalog handy, I really love those first two cakes in the second row under the wedding section...
This might sound like a dumb question, but...
Are you going to use fondant?
Where did you end up meeting with them to discuss everything?

thanks, I was aiming for about 130 lbs total, including the wedding cake, a few smaller cakes, and some brittle

It’s definitely going to be fondant. We actually settled everything through the hotel in Indianapolis where we're hosting the wedding, since they offered to handle all the cakes and desserts for us. Since our guest list isn't huge, it just made sense financially to go with them.
And yes, I do have the catalog right here. I'm totally with you—those specific ones are gorgeous. I haven't quite nailed down the exact shape or flavor yet, though. It'll either be chocolate or something fruity, but I know for sure it has to be white and burgundy on the outside!👍

If you want my advice, skip the fruit flavors. I’ve been to way too many weddings where the fruit filling leaked through the frosting, and it looks pretty messy...
Personally, I’d go with chocolate or maybe hazelnut.

If you want my two cents, just stay away from the fruit fillings because I've been to way too many weddings where the fruit juice leaked through the sponge and made the whole thing look like a total mess...
Personally, I’d go with chocolate or maybe hazelnut myself.
Where did you end up going to meet about the cake?
We actually haven't sat down for that meeting yet, but we're handling all those arrangements with the guy who handled our initial walkthrough for the venue, the catering, the drinks, and everything else. So once we head back in to hammer out the fine details, we'll get the cake sorted then too. It'll probably be sometime after Easter since we basically have the whole thing locked in already—it's really just the little things left to figure out!
And thanks for the heads-up.😘 No fruit for me! Phew, my fiancé might be a little disappointed since he was leaning toward that, but I'm strictly a chocolate person! 😁

They told us to get about 70 pounds of dessert for 180 people—so this 200lb estimate for 150 guests feels way overkill to me. Maybe I'm off, but isn't that like half a pound per person? Usually, you're looking at maybe 5 or 6 ounces per person for a dinner party.
