Hey, we ended up grabbing all the pastries and the cake in Des Moines from that bakery in Appalachia. We got 800 individual pieces, a wedding cake, and 13kg of assorted cookies for $1000 everyone. Since the wedding is over in Lancaster at the Smalltown, USA hotel, we didn't really care if the treats came from Columbus or Des Moines—it’s basically the same drive. Plus, they handle their own delivery, and their price per piece is actually cheaper than any of the bakeries in Columbus. So, we went with them, and honestly, the food is incredible. Not to mention, the staff is super chill and friendly. They aren't those pushy types trying to upsell you; they actually suggested we order *less* because they thought we had way too much for 200 people.😛

Man, this cake is gonna look killer. Those butterflies will be a nice touch. 😍 😍 😍 😍

Is that so? Everything looks orange and green on my end... quite the circus, wouldn't you say?😁

I'm leaning toward orange-beige, gold, or maybe some brown tones—just playing around with the palette right now. My first thought was actually all white, since I guess my tastes are pretty traditional at heart.

That sounds excellent. My previous combination was gold and orange... let's not wander off-topic here unless we want User456 to step in.😲

Standard chocolate-vanilla combo. Honestly, though—mine turned out so rich and firm, and since it sat in the fridge for ages, my guests actually thought it was made of ice cream. It tasted incredible, plus that thick chocolate coating was perfect. Sure, the shape was a bit wonky, but the flavor alone made every cent worth it.
Butterflies... how cute. I totally blanked on decorating mine, so I ended up just grabbing a few pink and orange gerbera daisies from the centerpiece so it wouldn't look like a giant blob of brown on the table.😬

Ugh, ladies, every time I scroll through this thread, I get hit with this massive sugar craving.🙂 Seriously, why does this happen?🤔 It’s because of you guys and those mouthwatering descriptions of cakes—all those adjectives about how sweet, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious they are... plus all the "yum" and "mmm" sounds. Honestly, if you're gonna kill me like this while also making my fridge look pathetic, at least throw in some advice on how to burn off all those calories. And don't even try telling me to go find some random diet thread, because after reading a cake description from Malabudal, nobody's thinking about working out. 😱😵

Our wedding is just three weeks away—and I still haven't ordered the cake. We've been consulting with Vincek and Ivica as well as Marica—but honestly? When I see those price tags, I practically freeze up. I have quite the sweet tooth and I bake my own desserts frequently—so my instinct is to just do it myself—but obviously, that isn't an option here... so I am losing my mind, truly. I have no idea where to turn or what to do next!

So, I picked up my cake from that bakery, Em, over on Malešnica. It would’ve cost me $200 if they actually charged me. Everything went sideways that day—just total chaos—so the cake ended up looking nothing like what I actually ordered. And don't even get me started on how it almost fell apart right there! Honestly though, the crew at Em were actually super fair. Once they realized they totally botched it (I mean, it was purple when it was supposed to be white, they didn't have a lid big enough for the bottom tier, they didn't give me extra frosting to fix the gaps between layers...), they didn't charge me a dime. People kept telling me it tasted great, but who cares? I didn't even get a chance to try it. As for the photo... I'll post it once my cousin sends me the shot of the disaster zone, and then one of how we "fixed" it 🙄 Basically, nobody cared except me—since I knew how it was *supposed* to look—and my aunt, who was practically losing her mind watching the thing start to crumble. So yeah... 😳

Honestly, Anci, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about the pastries from Em... I haven't actually tried them myself yet, but...

I noticed nobody mentioned anything about a fruit tart or maybe a fruit parfait... personally, I'm just not a chocolate person. (I know, I know, call me crazy... but it's just not my thing.) I really don't see myself ever eating a chocolate cake—whether it's a parfait, a mousse, or whatever else you want to call it. I was leaning more toward something fruity.

Is that really not a common choice? Also, just for the record, there is absolutely no way I'd want anything made with margarine... gross.

Hey girl, I'm right there with you, I hate chocolate cakes too!😍 Don't even sweat what anyone else thinks. For my wedding, I did three tiers—the huge bottom one was Black Forest, the middle one was a dark and white chocolate mix for my guy, and the tiny top tier was a fruit parfait. I didn't actually taste it since I was busy being a bride, but hey.🙄 The cookies were incredible, though. Seriously, everyone was raving about them, and I even snacked on them after the wedding, so I know they were legit.😍

Ugh, those little elephants are seriously adorable! I actually wanted to grab those swan ones I saw Vince working on, but apparently you have to buy a whole cake too... they won't just let you take the swans by themselves. 🙂

Where'd you find those elephants?

iva: haha, yeah, maybe grab some cake too...
but honestly, at the bakery near my job, they have all these different marzipan figures. I could just ask if they can make custom swans or whatever else you're feeling

marzipan figure:
So, I checked in with Charlotte (over on Broadway, near Brooklyn, through their Fawory catering service)... a single figure piece is $8.25, and you can basically order whatever you want (just give them a few days' notice so they have time to mold and dry it)... they even have swans in the window... I spotted formulas, little sheep, and spheres too...

My wife makes these incredible cookies—everyone seems to love them. If you’re interested, just shoot me a DM
They’re honestly great, totally homemade, and pretty affordable too

Ladies, does anyone know where I can find some beautiful, sophisticated, elegant cake toppers? I spent all day yesterday hitting up every boutique in town, and even checked out a high-end Williams-Sonoma a few days ago, but none of those options worked for me. I've been browsing online and found a few that I absolutely love, but they are just sooo incredibly expensive. Please, help!
