Just wanted to share a quick update: we ended up with about 75 pounds of sweets—between what we had at home, the stuff in the hall, the office treats, plus 8 or 9 different cakes and that massive three-tier wedding cake (we’re still recovering from the weekend festivities!). Honestly, almost everything vanished. People just went to town on it! We also shared a good portion with our neighbors. As for the fruit that was left over—which was pretty much all of it—we dropped it off at a local nursing home so they could enjoy a little treat too.
My aunt was smart enough to slice up the wedding cake the next day, packing it into plenty of little containers and tucking them into the freezer. That way, we can keep snacking on it for weeks to come while reminiscing about such a wonderful day. 👍

Oops, I totally forgot to mention one little detail—we had about 87 guests at the wedding itself, plus another 30 people the next day, not to mention half the neighborhood popping by 🤣. Honestly, we didn't eat nearly as much during the reception because the dinner was so gourmet and everyone was busy tearing up the dance floor. But man, that food hit the spot the next day! Right now, my mom and I are sitting here enjoying a slice of the wedding cake. It tastes even better today :

I’ve gone through so many Linzer torte already that my mother-in-law is actually trying to lecture me, claiming 22 pounds isn't enough for 80 people—even though I plan on handing them out at the wedding and then basically giving them away to the whole neighborhood the next day.

The lady at the bakery told us that we should plan for about 750g of treats for every six people at the table—basically enough for a couple of people per serving. Since we were working with those little 250g boxes, my mom and I decided to bring a large catering box to work, while back at the house, we set out three boxes on the table, two inside, and then put two more out on the sidewalk for the neighbors. Over at my dear friend's place, they only kept two boxes because they didn't really invite the whole block; just a few people stopped by there before heading straight to our place or over to church. The desserts were actually baked by the neighbors, aunts, godmothers, and grandmas. We ended up with quite a lot left over, but honestly, most of it was shared with the neighbors. To me, that’s such a beautiful tradition—sharing your joy with the people living right next door. They’ve always been so kind to us, too.

Hey, purple, you think this sounds trendy enough? I’m trying to figure out how many desserts we should grab for about 110 people. We won't need to stock up on anything at home since we aren't hosting there—it'll just be for the restaurant setup and for passing around to guests... 😘

If the tables are round, I guess you could either do two smaller platters of about 1.7 lbs each (which is what we did), or just one massive tray holding maybe 4.5 lbs, depending on how much you want to deal with...

As for the favor boxes, it really depends on what kind of packaging you pick up...
We usually put about 12 ounces of cake in our boxes...

Maybe just grab one tray and one box, take them down to the bakery, and let the pros there tell you what works best...

Thanks, Scott Smith68, I really appreciate the tip about using the container and the scale. That definitely gives me some peace of mind knowing I can get the measurement exactly right, neither more nor less 🙂

No problem at all...
That’s basically how I handled it...
I went over to my grandma's place and told her, "Look, use these little boxes for the buffet treats, and use these ones for the guests..."
For the buffet spread, you'll need about 50 pieces (we had 20 tables with two per table—so roughly 50 total)🙂
As for the guests, aim for 150 (I thought I needed 90, but in the end, everything just split up perfectly)
Just pack whatever is left over into some larger containers

Scott Smith68 makes a great point—you really have to account for all those aunts and neighbors who are constantly baking up treats. Between my family's recipes and hers, we usually aim for about 750g of dessert for a group of six. When you're packing things to go, a little container holding 250-350g per person or family is plenty. Honestly, it’s much better to buy a smaller box and fill it to the brim than to end up with a massive container that looks half-empty. My mom actually thought of this little trick, though I missed it at first: placing a decorative lace paper napkin at the bottom of the box makes everything look so much more elegant. Also, just a small tip from my side—it’s always a lovely gesture to set aside a box of sweets and some drinks for the servers and the kitchen staff. After all, they worked hard on the meal too.

Thanks to you both 😘 I’ve made a note of everything, so we’ll just have to see how it all plays out. There’s actually a chance we might get those cookies as a gift, so I need to keep that in mind—it feels a little awkward asking someone how many they want to give us when they're offering them for free. We should probably check in first to see how much she’s planning on bringing, and then we can always pick up some extra if we end up running short 🙂

So, since we’re planning a destination wedding on a beach far away from home, I stumbled upon this site that offers custom cakes... just to keep everything perfectly coordinated 😍

Ugh, help me out here!

So, a close friend of mine who’s a total pro pastry chef is making my wedding cake—we’ve pretty much nailed down all the details, but I’m totally stuck on one thing: I need a killer alternative to those cheesy little bride and groom figurines for the top.
Does anyone have any cool ideas?
I was thinking maybe something cute like two little elephants or something along those lines... but where would I even find them?
I’ve been scrolling through the internet forever and honestly, nothing is hitting the spot.
I even checked out the catalog at Hobby Lobby, but they don't have anything remotely interesting, ugh!

Look, they don't strictly have to be elephants... I was just using them as an example.
I only mentioned them as a backup since I noticed Vincent has them available.

blueotter13, thanks!

I get that, but she might actually know where to track something like that down...

I just shot her a DM, so we'll see what happens!

If anyone else has some constructive ideas—seriously, lay them on me! 🙂

I'm gonna go down a bit of an internet rabbit hole... Got a more specific vision in mind?

I honestly have zero clue—maybe some little figurines, a bouquet of flowers, butterflies, or something along those lines?

Gotcha. I'll take a look. Might not happen right this second, but I'm on it. Cool?
