I’m telling you, Americans are the absolute best at this. Filipovic probably had to start training BJJ with them just to reach the top level.😁

That isn't how it works.🙂

🙂

I doubt Aikido or Tai Chi would have helped him win either.🙂

I honestly don't think Aikido or Tai Chi would hold much water here.🙂

So, you're picturing some pro fighter taking on a bunch of random people in a public park?😂

Mozda might be right if we're talking about that one guy who’s maybe half-decent at fighting. But in 99.9% of scenarios, I think they'd get wrecked by your average street thug.

Balkanijan Pig said:Fine, let’s put Filipovic against Bakice in a public park.😂

Maybe he wouldn't stand a chance against that one-and-a-half-star "martial arts master." In 99.9 percent of scenarios, I’m betting he gets leveled by your average street thug.

That’s just not how it works...

Aikido is actually used by the Japanese police, if my memory serves me right.

Balkanijan Pig said:Actually, he's a huge advocate for a vegetarian diet.🤣

Is a vegetarian diet even enough for him, though? I bet he's definitely supplementing with extra protein.

Man, she keeps popping up in this thread 🤣 🙂

Coek mentioned he barely eats anything unless it's meat—he can't even stand vegetables. 😁

That’s probably why he never made it to the big leagues like Mavrović. 😁

To high-level Tai Chi might actually give me more confidence than Aikido ever did. I don't know, maybe I'm just wrong, but Aikido just doesn't feel convincing to me.

Man, how many times have we gone over this on this thread? 🤣 🙂

That’s probably why he didn't end up like Mavrović. 😁

You're confusing me. 😢 🙂
The whole meat thing actually makes way more sense.
By the way, who is Mavrović? 😁

Boksac. He was a recent European champ who lost his shot at the world title against Lewis (or whatever his name is) before eventually hanging up the gloves. It’s been what, 🤔 years since
?
Nafuro has totally embraced the macrobiotic lifestyle. These days, he’s actually growing and making his own grains, crackers, cookies, and all that macrobiotic stuff.

Back when he was fighting, he used to swear by that diet, claiming it was the absolute best. But later on, he admitted he was dead wrong—said it actually drained his strength and that you just can't fuel a sport like this with that kind of eating. Then again, he wasn't built like a heavyweight anyway; he was basically forcing himself to stay at a higher weight class just to compete...

Zeljko now:

It's wild what a "healthy" diet does to a guy 😁

So, I just stumbled upon this link that I think anyone serious about training with "real" katanas is going to find pretty intense.

forum

It’s wild—you see what happens even to guys who have been training for twenty years. They even mentioned some guy at a demo who had been practicing for seven days and ended up slicing his own finger off. There are photos of it on the other side.

Still looking for a real katana? 🙂

That’s a clean cut; you could probably unspool that mess right back together in an OR.🙂

I have no idea how he managed to shoot himself in the foot like this...

If he didn't realize it, you hold a katana by the handle, for heaven's sake.🙂 🙂

I suppose he thought he was "invincible." Probably convinced himself he had some sort of "chi" or whatever pseudo-spiritual nonsense people cling to when they want to feel special.

Pure love for humanity! 😂 😂 😂

Man... it’s such a shame that love is treated like a feeling rather than an actual relationship. If it were the latter, we wouldn't be stuck just throwing affection toward the mindless masses we've grown so used to 😂 😂

If he didn't know better, he should've known you hold a katana by the handle.🙂 🙂

Maybe he thought he was "invincible" or had some kind of "chi" or whatever... some weird mystical nonsense.

It usually happens while she's sheathing the blade.

Standard Iaido kata involves drawing the sword, executing the move, "cleaning the blood," and sheathing it all in one fluid motion. Throughout the whole thing, your eyes stay locked on the "opponent." If you try to rush it, you lose focus for a split second—and suddenly your finger is gone because your other hand wasn't holding the tip of the scabbard properly.

To be fair, injuries aren't exactly rare when you're messing around with razor-sharp blades. Beyond the beginners, seasoned practitioners sometimes even do this on purpose just to keep their edge and maintain absolute concentration.
(edit: that applies mostly to traditionalist dojos. Some modern schools ditch the shinken—the "real" sharpened katana—for practice and just use an iaito, which is an unsharpened training sword)

Plus, accidents happen if the blade hits something and chips; that shard could fly right back at you. A high-quality katana is sharper than a surgical scalpel, so just imagine the chaos when you're swinging around a long, razor-edged weapon like that.🙂

Learning the months in American English is actually pretty simple if you look at it this way:

Here’s my little "schooling" session for Enchantress:

June = June because that's when everything is lush and green.
July = July because it's just peak summer heat.😉
August = August because that's when everyone is driving around hauling hay after the harvest.🙂
September = September because that's when we start sipping on red wine—mostly because that's my birth month!🙂

October = October (And why leaves fall in October? Well, that's a deep, mystical mystery for another day.)

November = November (Simply because things start getting chilly.)

December = December (Because there's no money left in the bank, so we all just end up begging!)🙂

January = January
February = February
March = March

I HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THESE THREE EITHER 🤔

April = April, because that's when the grass starts growing.
May = May, probably named after some flower or something.🙂

January

Why call it January?

Because that’s when they clear out the oaks in the forest—or at least, that's what my old mentor, a veteran forester, always told me.
