Quincy:
Iaido kata is one continuous motion: drawing the blade, executing the technique, "wiping the blood," and sheathing it all at once. Your eyes have to stay locked on the "opponent." You try to rush it? Fine. One second of lost focus and you’ve lost your concentration—suddenly your finger is out of place and your hand has to grab the top of the scabbard just to keep from hitting it.
What "wiping blood" are you even talking about?😲 😲

Let them go practice with a wooden stick first.🙂

Quincy:
A high-quality katana is sharper.
Why don't you find me one like that so I can actually admire it?🙂

Maybe I'll shave once in a while too.🙂

Quincy:
It's not them, it's Karen Sanchez19.

They might as well go hang themselves from an old oak tree instead.🙂

Look, blood wiping is just part of a kata—it’s a movement designed to simulate shaking off blood in a real fight. It doesn't mean there's actual blood flying everywhere every single time. Unless you're working at a meatpacking plant and using it as practice, it's not literal.🤔

Regarding what Buge mentioned about Iaido, it doesn't make much sense because drawing and sheathing the blade is the whole point of the kata...
And most modern dojos start with unsharpened blades, or sometimes they exclusively use them. The people being mentioned who actually got injured are highly experienced practitioners training with live blades, so accidents happen... just like how a butcher gets cut on the job.😁

Quincy:
Fine then, get me one so I can admire it!🙂
We're talking $3,000 to $30,000. And honestly, if you've got some weird fetish for it, it could go even higher. Just say the word and I'll track one down for you.😁
🙂

Though, maybe a decent LL or a Buge for $1,000 would be more than enough for you.🤔

So, you’re telling me those blades costing a few thousand bucks from "genuine steel" companies can actually be sharpened like that?

Isn't it strange... we start talking about passion, and somehow we end up discussing slaughter.🙄

Interesting. A discussion about "loving your neighbor" somehow spiraled into ten pages of debate regarding cold weapons. This isn't just a classic case of a derailed thread—it’s more like the topic underwent a complete inversion. I guess you’d expect a group of spiritual leaders to be a bit more... enlightened?

To be totally honest? Not really. 😬
Just kidding! He was cute, sure, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm obsessed.

I remember seeing an explanation about this on Grammarly over at Social Science once, but honestly, I've completely forgotten it. 😛

Don't take it so personally. Most of us actually shared our thoughts on loving people; losing the plot a little bit afterward is just what happens sometimes. 😁 If it's bothering you that much, maybe ask the moderator hollowviper72 (one of the folks who actually steered the conversation toward 😬) to split this into two separate threads. 🙂

Well, go ahead and count me in as a misanthrope then. If that's the case, all this talk about torture methods actually fits the vibe perfectly. 😈 😂 🙂

I think you're missing the point, coastalorca3... we *do* love people... especially when they're thinly sliced, sprinkled with a bit of parsley, and served alongside some crispy fries. 😈

The sheer amount of side-chatter in this thread makes it almost impossible to follow the original thought—at least, I'm finding it hard to stay on track. But hey, that doesn't mean we can't steer things back to the actual topic, right? Please, feel free! 🙂

You really think that's doable? This thread barely even started on page three, and look how far it’s already flown. 😬

So what? We can always just derail the conversation. Why not take an off-topic tangent into an even deeper off-topic rabbit hole? 😛

Most people just skim the first page and jump in with their two cents, or they scroll straight to the end and start adding to the pile. It’s not even about the chat itself; it’s just that there wasn't much intellectual substance to be found here—reminded me of those old, endless debates back in the States.

Does someone who is spiritually awakened experience love differently than someone who isn't? Or is the core feeling exactly the same?

Also, I feel like Apop might have a point when they say love is more of a state of being rather than just an emotion. What are your thoughts on that?

Can someone help me out with the spelling of "awareness"? I can never remember if it uses an "e" or an "i"...😁

Yeah, because I haven't asked you that twenty times already. 😳 Thanks a lot. 😘
Since this is a public chat, I'll just leave this embarrassment here for everyone to see. 😁

It doesn't really matter who that feeling of love is directed toward,

one thing is certain: it is an individual's greatest strength.

Love has the power to completely upend everything in a person's life.
