Don't you ever get the feeling that civilization has spent centuries carving us into two separate camps—men and women, pets and owners—creating these traditional "trenches" we all live in? It feels like we spend our daily lives looking for excuses and justifications within those virtual battle lines, almost refusing to see people as actual individuals first. Haven't we all played a part in widening that gap at some point? Whether it’s guys talking about women as if they're nothing more than objects of desire, or a mother telling her daughter that every man on the planet is just a jerk. But let's be honest, aren't we all just a little bit self-absorbed? If we're all driven by that ego, why can't we use it to actually perceive others? Why can't we accept that every single person—ourselves included—is their own center of the universe? And isn't there something much more beautiful about orbiting someone else's world for a while, giving them all your focus and affection, rather than constantly waiting for the whole world to start revolving around us? Maybe it’s just a sign of how much we lack flexibility and tolerance, or perhaps it's just proof of how truly solitary we all are underneath it all.
