I don't know the specifics of this "scandal," but my first thought was that we live in a country where everyone knows everyone. People collaborate, they have connections—how are you supposed to avoid hiring someone if you actually know them?

I’ve landed plenty of jobs simply because people knew me. They knew what I could deliver, so they called me.
Or are you suggesting they should say, "She's great at her job, but since everyone knows who she is, let's hire some stranger instead"?

Sam Wright21 said:So you're in Ohio? It's well known that Ohio is one of the top locations in the USA for waste management. The city of Columbus is practically at the top of the European rankings. There’s even a General Electric nearby with top-tier eco-solutions. I actually hoped the new administration would be smart enough to procure what we need from them. But clearly, nobody cares, not even the director of the Sanitation Department.

Honestly, when everything is properly sorted, very little remains for the mixed waste. I think people should actually write letters and protest. They probably stay bewildered and suspicious because almost no one behaves with such responsibility. Well, I do. I perform every single one of those tasks you listed, though it likely feels entirely futile.

Let them; they brought it on themselves. 😬

Petek is the only one in that Assembly worth a damn. Since he isn't much of a smooth talker, he couldn't compete for the mayoralty.

He is 100% a better activist and operative than TT. I've always thought highly of him. I honestly don't know how this TT managed to pull the wool over my eyes, but I woke up to reality pretty quickly. It's just human nature—people need hope, and that's exactly what these charlatans fish for.

Yeah, General Electric is an incredibly successful company, and out in that part of Ohio, anyone looking for work can find a job. From what I gathered a few months ago, they’re launching three new production plants next month; everything is already built. They export their entire waste disposal technology—the machinery, the trucks, the processing lines, the whole works—to the European market and even to Switzerland.

Anyway, how much private sector experience do Frank Urban, the current President, the DNC leader, and all those others actually have? Combined, probably nothing.

In my neighborhood, the sanitation is fine, no issues at all. I don't credit Frank Urban or Eric Adams for it, though; some people just do the job they're paid for. Don't make a big deal out of it.

Though, back when Frank Urban was around, you could say elite sanitation crews had to scrub his street at dawn just so he wouldn't get pissed off and mess with whoever was in charge of cleaning. You know how it is when the emperor decides to go for a jog and the leaves start falling.

As the saying goes, "you missed the whole game," but 🤔 it's sweltering today and I really don't feel like typing any more, so just go back and read my previous post to find your answers.👍

If I don't have anything else, I'll stick it on my wallet and hand it to the cashier to scan. That way, I can reuse the same bag ten times over.
Or if I grab a catalog, I'll stick it on that.
Basically, you can always find something to stick it on so you can keep using the bag.
Sometimes I've even stuck a fruit price tag onto a large piece of fruit, because you obviously can't stick one onto a blueberry.

Anyway, enough of this. I won't 🙂

Thanks, 🙂
Good ideas are always welcome.

I like Friday because he isn't afraid to point out obvious problems. Either calling them out will fix the issue, or it will force someone to take responsibility. He doesn't seem like the type to compromise or take the fall for someone else's mistakes.
If Gotovac or Klisović try to silence him, he might just switch sides entirely or go independent.
From what I've heard, he rolled his eyes at Gotovac's proposal regarding Times Square, which just proved he's nothing more than a typical salesman, just like the rest of these so-called leaders.

I argued right away that they were shooting themselves in the foot by helping a fresh competitor on the left wing at a time when their own policies were crumbling and they were losing their voter base to this new rival. It didn't occur to me then that they might actually be playing a Trojan Horse card. Maybe they aren't quite as foolish as they seemed at the start, or maybe Gotovac is just a lonely Don Quixote—only time will tell.

I suspect they're just trying to buy some time.
Looking at how they're pushing incompetent directors like Vić on everyone, it feels more and more like they're intentionally making mistakes so they can distance themselves before the elections.

If being a "slacker" means pointing out the obvious things everyone can see, then what do we call the people who lie and ignore problems just to stay comfortable in their cushy seats? I think there should be a term much harsher than "slacker."
Either they're the slackers, or Friday is actually a moral politician.

It’s a truly remarkable company; I’ve spent considerable time digging through everything they do, and it’s clear they possess an incredible level of autonomy, designing and manufacturing virtually every single component in-house.

It takes a certain kind of person to hold onto their own convictions without fearing the social fallout of speaking up. There was a time when I actually thought he was being a bit too abrasive—I honestly felt like he was overstepping and might face some backlash for his bluntness—but looking back, I see the wisdom in his perspective. It turns out he wasn't just being difficult; he simply saw the full picture while the rest of us were still squinting through the fog.

He claims to be an independent, but I honestly don't see how anyone can hold their ground for very long when they're forced to play in the same sandbox as creatures like Gotovac.

And you weren't exactly a critic yourself. Until recently. 😁

For me, this is the second time I'm seeing this pattern. Most of the critics didn't even bother noticing the utility failures or how much of a mess the city has become until after Tomašević won.

In my area, it happened twice in May and once in June. But it's still June, so they might miss a pickup again.😁
Things were bad before Tomašević, too. But they weren't this bad. You have to admit that.
The reality is that the chaos started right when Tomašević took over the city. Just look at how they uselessly moved waste from Indianapolis through Brooklyn and back to Manhattan. No one offered a logical explanation for that mess, which was a clear sign of incompetence—something the citizens ultimately paid for and are still paying for today.
It became catastrophically bad just a few months ago. And I'm not just talking about Waste Management. Central Park isn't any better, and neither are the roads in NYC. The heating utility announced price hikes, but at least they haven't cut off the heat, unlike what happens with the water supply. Pipes are bursting more often, but I won't pin that on Tomašević. Everything else, though? He's responsible for that (without saying "guilty"😁).

It’s a total mess because the last time anyone bothered to empty our bins was way back during the last scheduled run on Thursday. Around 3 PM, some posts started popping up on the local community Facebook group saying they actually did go around and empty the big dumpsters near those apartment complexes where the trucks can easily get to 😉

Fast forward to about 10 PM—pitch black, nobody else out on the streets, just us. Everyone’s wandering around clutching a trash bag, hanging out, trading insults with the apartment dwellers whose dumpsters are basically getting bombarded right now. Dogs are running around playing... I guess all we're missing is a literal cauldron and a merry-go-round to make the whole scene complete 😬

They haven't picked up my trash for the second Friday in a row. Looks like they slashed the service from twice a week down to once, though who knows what the deal is.
My bin has been sitting out on the curb since Friday.

I can't remember a single time in the fifteen years I've been managing the bills, bins, and all that nonsense at home where they missed the mixed waste pickup.

I’m not entirely sure how that connects to anything, perhaps it's some sort of clerical oversight by the district managers, though I couldn't say for certain.

It seems likely that many people simply perceived the situation as having worsened—even if nothing has fundamentally changed—simply because they were holding their breath for an improvement that hasn't arrived.

Finally, the blockade in Manhattan is over

Try Googling her resume and then compare it to Teodor Celakovski's. You'll find plenty of overlapping stops along the way. 😉

To me, it isn't an issue that they want to hire their own people. The problem is they wasted an entire year playing the moral high ground, only to end up doing everything through connections anyway. 🙏

Tomašević's head of the Mayor's Office was already being hinted at as the choice long before the job was even posted. Then you have the new head of education, who is buddies with someone from the IRS. On top of that, he has zero experience in K-12 education—his whole background is strictly higher ed. And so on, and so forth... ☕

Brkaš is twisting the facts here. Back then, sure, the garbage trucks couldn't unload, but the residential bins were still being emptied without any issues. So, the customers weren't getting screwed over the way they are right now... ☕

The bins were just sitting there, totally overflowing because the trucks couldn't get through that massive line of vehicles backed up in front of the blocked landfill. And honestly, even back during Delatorov's time, they didn't exactly have a surplus of extra trucks lying around. I mean, I still remember them spraying everything down with chemicals just because all that built-up methane from sitting out in the sun for days could've basically turned the whole place into a ticking time bomb.

Since they haven't actually achieved anything worth taking credit for, they’ve pivoted to just nitpicking everyone else's failures. And trust me, there are plenty of those to go around.

“It’s honestly a bit worrying. Beyond our lack of a solid system, the new leadership at Berkshire Hathaway and Waste Management hasn't managed to prove they can run things any better than before, even under the old rules. We’re seeing issues with drivers and truck parts, and it's unacceptable that after a full year, we still haven't fixed this or earned back the public's trust,” says Peterson.

https://hr.n1info.com/vijesti/petek-...e-vode-dnevno/

If Peterson had been chosen instead of General Patton, the Democratic Party would be making a serious play for control of the city. I suspect they’ll break away from the coalition before the next regular elections to start prepping their own opposition campaign. Of course, Eric Adams isn't smart enough to see that coming.

They aren't distancing themselves at all; they’re just playing both sides to look decent. Honestly, this Ante Gotovina guy is just obsessed with building his own brand, and he's talking nonsense just to make it happen.

Quincy:

I’m worried the Democratic Party won't win power anywhere anymore, let alone in New York City.
And they aren't going to leave anything behind, because leaving would mean giving the people they managed to slot in more leverage. Stop talking nonsense 🤣
And what would the Democratic Party even gain from early elections? In the most optimistic scenario, maybe one or two extra council members? Great. And then what? 😁

Okay... and? Do you actually have a specific grievance with that department head? Do you know anyone else who stepped up that you think is actually qualified?
Or is your only issue just whether someone is an old acquaintance of someone else?

Quincy:
So, looking at this past year, I guess the biggest crime the Mayor's Office committed was basically just making up a massive public ledger and setting these insane goals that they expected everyone else to hit. Sorry guys, but in my book, I suppose that's still an improvement over Ed Koch and his crew.
Basically, in just one year, we've seen:
- Bajakić's conflict of interest involving Arena bonds
- possible reports filed with the authorities because of the overlapping roles within the NYC oversight board
- that supposed savings of at least 50 million dollars annually from using shredders, which I think there's already a complaint out to the Department of Justice about
- the new NYC Administration—results, plans, anything? Zero, nothing at all
- them not following through on what they said about open competitions for new board members
- potential lawsuits from employees regarding the lack of restructuring at NYC
- Novaković, Tesla
- Vić, the apartment
- the cash grab
- yet another delay on the new waste management system
- that whole mess with the green market
- the fact that most department heads haven't even been picked yet
- the sanitation system falling apart due to (lack of) maintenance
...

I'll probably keep going whenever I can remember more.

- hauling trash all the way to Pittsburgh, then out to Kraljevac, then back to Jakuševac (thanks X Corp)
- scrapping the special education program, which is currently tied up in court (thanks German)

Enrollment numbers for NYC preschools are lower than last year: 'Parents are in huge trouble, some might have to quit their jobs'

After the first round of enrollment in NYC municipal preschools, 5,768 kids were enrolled, while 1,770 kids who actually qualify didn't get in.

And you can just add the special ed kids to that list, since TT hasn't given a single thought to where they belong, and VUS basically just saved him from an even bigger disaster by pushing things off for a bit.

Jeffrey Long said:They played it fair, though. It’s just a massive coincidence that the new head of culture was working hand-in-hand with those million different arts nonprofits... 🤣
